I'll definitely agree on the mainstream pop since it is produced and the scene bands, since they are genuinely shitty.

I recommend you give some rap a chance. Not the bullshit you hear on today's radio, but;

Wu-Tang Clan, Common, Proof, Tupac, Common, Outkast.
