The Gorilla Whale

Post by Godzilla165 »

Tokyo, Japan.
1954.

A city in ruin. A sea of flame. Tokyo had become literal hell on Earth, as pillars of smoke blanketed the night sky and red embers fell to the ground. Terrified citizens, thousands of them, littered the streets as they desperately ran for their lives, pushing and trampling over one another. They were running from a seemingly invisible force, one that only a handful had truly seen, but managed to strike fear in every living being that resided in Tokyo. The unlucky few that had seen this destructive force didn’t live long enough to tell the tale, having either been swiftly executed by the terrible menace, or some having took their own lives from the very sight of it. Everyone had heard its terrible, unearthly cry, of which shook the people of Japan to their very core.

Among those running for the nearest possible safety they could find, was a young man, late teens, perhaps even in his early twenties. He had been running through the city streets for what seemed like hours now, blinded by the sting of his own tears. The boy had just witnessed his parents and older sister be trampled underneath the heel of that living terror, but he somehow managed to escape what seemed like inevitable death, if for just a little while longer. He was severely out of breath and losing his footing with every step he took, but the young man kept running; he knew he couldn’t stop, even with his burning lungs pleading for him to. If he did, his fate would be sealed. As he dashed through the streets, the man laid witness to dozens upon dozens of bodies littering the tarmac, some having been crushed by falling debris, and some burning. The putrid stench of cooked flesh raced through the boy’s nostrils, causing him to gag and nearly throw up on multiple occasions. But he kept on, whilst trying his best to ignore the carnage around him. He couldn’t see but two feet in front of him; the only source of light were the fires that burned all around him. He felt their intense heat rush past his face, of which was drenched in sweat and tears.

As the young man rounded a corner, he soon heard the thunderous sounds of tank engines and treads heading towards him. And, before he knew it, a dozen of the armored vehicles were right on top of him and soon positioned themselves in a way that almost formed a makeshift barricade around him. Without wasting anytime, the tanks unleashed huge chunks of burning lead from their powerful cannons into the smoke clouds before them. The roar from the blasts violently rattled the man’s entire body and pummeled his ear drums. He dove onto the hot concrete and covered his ears as best he could and squeezed his eyes shut. The tanks kept firing into the darkness, with every shell hitting its target dead on. Each hit exploded against the body of the reaper who tore the city aflame, and illuminated the creature in silhouette for just a few, fleeting moments. The details were sparse, but the creature looked to have had a massive head with draconian features such as: Long pointed ears, and a pointed snout. It had large, broad shoulders with massive arms and clawed fingers, and even larger legs and almost dinosaurian feet. Though, even then, those details could have been exaggerated or inaccurate all together. In any case, the brave men whom piloted their metal steeds kept up their assault, while the young man cowered behind them.

Suddenly, the man felt himself be forcefully yanked to his feet, causing him to scream at the top of his lungs and rip his eyes wide open. In front of him, the man found an angry and terrified solider glaring at him. The latter shook the boy violently, “The hell are you doing, son?! GO! NOW!” The soldier screamed and proceeded to shove the man with all his might. The young man slammed against the tarmac, dazed and confused as he watched the soldier hurriedly get back into his personal tank and join his brethren in their continued offense. The man’s words rang through his head repeatedly, and without having to have been told twice, the young man quickly staggered to his feet and raced off away from the ensuing fight. He soon located a nearby alleyway and inadvertently collapsed to his hands and knees, and puked. He did so until he just couldn’t anymore and crawled over to a brick wall and slumped down onto his butt. The young man sat there for God knows how long as he heard the tanks nearby still firing at the Devil. And then, artillery fire was soon replaced with bloodcurdling screams of sheer agony and excruciation. Those screams of death tore through the boy like a sharpened blade, and he found himself unable to move out of fear and exhaustion, but mostly the former. As soon as the screams rang out, they stopped, and aside from the crackling of nearby flames, it was eerily silent.

Boldly, the young man staggered to his feet to peer around the corner from where he hid. To his immediate horror, he found the remains of every single tank burning in the street. Their seemingly impenetrable armor had been reduced to nothing but molten metal. Those men… That one who dared to exit the safety of his vehicle to rescue the boy… They were all dead, just like that. The young man was about to run, knowing that death wasn’t far behind, when… He heard a snarl… One that shook him to his most basic genetic makeup. He started to weep silently and prayed to God to let his demise be a swift and painless one, before he slowly turned around and looked up. That… That is when he saw it, saw him. The one responsible for all this death, destruction and misery… He was there, peering straight down at the boy from behind the building he had just been resting beside. The young man only saw the creature’s enormous head, and even then, he couldn’t make out any real details. But what he did see, and the things that pierced through his very soul… Were its eyes. Those horrible, ghostly white eyes with tiny pupils as black as night. The man stood there frozen in fear, his own eyes stuck on the towering being standing before him. From this close, the man could even hear the creature’s heavy breathing, sounding more like gales of wind.

With nowhere else to run, the man closed his eyes tightly and cried in defeat; he was at the mercy of his killer now. But, as seconds turned into minutes, the young man eventually reopened his eyes and peered up, only to find that the creature had disappeared almost like a ghost. It was nowhere to be found above him, and the boy could do nothing more but collapse to the ground and scream to top of his lungs. And then, he fell unconscious as Tokyo continued to burn around him.

Present Day.
Osaka, Japan, 1966.
Now, a little over a decade later, that same young man is now a respected and decorated member of the Japanese military, and captain to its flagship vessel: The Atragon. This enormous battleship is equipped with the latest in both military hardware and software, from missile launchers, railguns, experimental maser cannons, and even a massive drill up used as a ramming device. It took nearly a quarter of the military’s resources and funds to develop and build this machine, but if it was successful in helping to take down the recent uprising of giant monsters that plague humanity, then it would be well worth the cost. And, the most important aspect of the Atragon was its captain: Hidachi vi Britannia, the same young soul who survived the attack from the reaper and lived to tell about it. That scared and timid young man from all those years ago was no more. Now, Hidachi was a fearless, determined and fiery man with a festering vengeance and vitriol burning in his heart. On that faithful day, all those years ago, Hidachi made a promise that he planned on keeping: Should the Devil ever return, Hidachi would be at the frontlines to make sure that he stayed dead this time, and Britannia would be the one that dug the grave. And now, that time seemed to have finally come.

Britannia sat in the central seat overlooking the tight, circular command center of the Atragon as the ship flew towards Osaka. It had taken a bit longer than expected, because of both the torrential downpour that had begun nearly half an hour ago, and the darkness of night. Worse yet, there was a massive gridlock on the outskirts of Osaka from people desperately trying to escape, but luckily for the most part, the inner level had been evacuated. Even with the exorbitant amounts of rain drenching everything, somehow, they still couldn’t put out the towering walls of fire that swallowed huge sections of the city. Carnage had already started, and whatever defenses against the attack had been destroyed. Hidachi and his crew were merely trying to stop the bleeding now; they were the last line of defense.

“We’re approaching Osaka, sir. ETA is 60 seconds.” A young, red haired recruit affirmed from his tiny workstation overlooking a small computer screen.

Hidachi simply nodded. “G-Squadron, battle stations!”

Immediately as the order was made, the 12 other operatives that accompanied Britannia went to work bring every weapon system online and raising the Atragon’s power to maximum capacity. There were a series of loud hums and whirrs as the artillery came to life, and the large thrusters at the back of the ship increased in their intensity. Just as the young recruit estimated, the members of G-Squadron had arrived in the ruins of Osaka in under a minute. All eyes were watching the main screen in the top center of the command terminal, witnessing as the Atragon flew past various burning and destroyed buildings. With the darkness of night washing over everything, and the buckets of rain being spilled, it was like Hell on Earth. But, oddly enough, it was surprisingly calm and quiet. Osaka was a ghost city. Hidachi ordered for the Atragon to be taken down lower, just to see if they could locate any possible survivors, and if he was hiding.

“No sign of any survivors, captain.” Ryu Yamane, a youthful JSDF lieutenant, and Hidachi’s right hand man, said. Only 26 years old, Ryu rose through the ranks of the JSDF at a monumental rate, surging past his classmates and going onto to become second-in-command on the Japanese military’s flagship vessel. No one handed him any favors; it was through sheer discipline and hard work that got Yamane where he was now.

Hidachi leaned forward in his seat, “Do we have a visual of our target yet?” He inquired.

Ryu shook his head, “Negative, sir, not from what I can determine.”

Britannia swore to himself whilst staring intently at the main screen. He then shifted his gaze over to his pilot: Mitzuki Ozawa, a raven-haired, hazel-eyed air force graduate and natural born flyer, due to her time working on and piloting her family’s personal old plane since she was 8 years old. “Mitzuki, take us back above the city line.” Hidachi said.

“Yes sir.” Mitzuki quickly obliged and began to steer the Atragon upward, when a sudden cry from Ryu made her freeze dead in her tracks.

“Wait, sir! I’m getting a massive radiation spike on my screen!” The man exclaimed.

“Yeah, me too!” The red headed recruit piped up, “It just came out of nowhere… That can’t be possible, can it?!”

In seconds, the entire room was buzzing with new information being passed around by the second, of something that had seemingly popped into existence without warning. “Everyone QUIET.” Britannia boomed, which almost instantly brought the entire room back to complete silence. Hidachi, after making sure that everyone had been settled down, turned to Ryu. “Do we have any idea where this energy spike is originating from?”

Ryu quickly proceeded to type various commands into his computer… And his skin turned white. He slowly turned to Hidachi and gulped, “It’s… It’s apparently right on top of us, s-sir.”

Britannia’s eyes widened in shock and he whipped his head in the direction of the main screen. It was so dark outside, and the rain had severely blinded the exterior cameras; only brief flashes of lightning and the glow of the weakening fires were the two sources of real light. “Mitzuki… Hold her still.” Hidachi calmly ordered.

The girl nodded and kept the Atragon in place. As every soul in the ship kept their eyes glued to the central monitor, a flash of lightning briefly revealed something on the right.

“Wait… What the hell was that?” Ryu asked out loud.

“What is it?” said Hidachi.

“Can we turn on cameras 4 and 5 on the right side, please?” Ryu ordered.

“Cameras 4 and 5 coming online now sir.” An engineer responded.

As they came online, so too did two smaller monitors that swung out and soon showcased what they saw. As far as anyone else inside the ship could tell, nothing was out there. But, Hidachi knew Yamane well enough to know when the man was being serious. He intently watched the two screens intently, and ready to act at a moment’s notice. His palms and brow began to sweat, as Hidachi could swear that he saw something moving ever so slightly to the right of the ship, but he couldn’t say for certain. But, upon a bright but brief flash of lightning, Ryu’s hunch was immediately confirmed. Standing mere feet away from the Atragon, and utterly towering over the large battleship… Was an enormous and black creature, whose silhouette was unmistakable. And worse yet… It was staring right at the ship.

Everyone onboard held their collective breathes as fear began to set into every soul in that room, everyone except Hidachi. He needed to remain calm if he was going to get him and his crew out of this alive.

“Sssir?” The young, red headed recruit stammered as he stared at the screen in horror, “Is… Is that?”

“Yeah, that’s him.” Hidachi solemnly answered as he glared at the titanic creature through the monitor, “…Gojira.”
The creature, now known as, “Gojira”, glared down at the ship through ember eyes that were shadowed by deeply set brows. This one wasn’t as bulky or broad as his distant relative from over a decade back, replacing that sheer mass with a slender and muscular build, considerably longer arms, a slightly smaller head, and slimmer legs and feet. However, no mistakes should be made, for this second Gojira was both larger and gapped his predecessor in power tenfold. The giant monster just stood there as still as a statue, watching the Atragon like a predator does its prey.

“Mitzuki, raise all thrusters to maximum levels.” Hidachi stated. Seconds past, and there had been no response from neither the girl nor the ship. Hidachi glanced at Mitzuki and found her staring at the screen, frozen in fear by the sight before her. Every flash of lightning made her jump as it revealed Gojira’s looming form still standing there. Mitzuki’s hands were on the controls to the Atragon, but she couldn’t move them; they were shaking too much.

“Mitzuki… Mitzuki, listen to me, I know this is a scary situation for you and for all us, but I need you to try and compose yourself and focus on the task at hand, or else we’re all going to die. Understand?” Hidachi attempted to reassure. No response from her still. That is when the captain took a more direct approach, one that always got her attention. He raised a fist up high in the air, and slammed it back down on his armrest, causing a loud “CLUNG!” to echo throughout the room. “Mitzuki!!! Get us the hell out of here, NOW!!!” Hidachi bellowed.

The young pilot was immediately shaken from her trance, her hands stopped shaking and she tightened her grip around the flight controls with authority. “YES SIR!” She shouted engaged the thrusters and made the Atragon blast past the mountainous mass of Gojira, whilst bringing the vessel higher into the air.

Hidachi settled back down in his chair and smirked internally; that never failed. “Turn the ship 180 degrees and lock onto Gojira! Adam, be prepared to fire the railguns when she does!”

The young recruit, now known as Adam, nodded firmly and set the massive guns to hot. When Mitzuki positioned the ship to face the scowling form of Gojira, Hidachi immediately screamed, “Railguns FIRE!”

In seconds, gargantuan slugs of lead were hurled at Gojira at supersonic speeds and forcefully smacked into his hide. The rounds exploded with anger on his skin and left huge pockets of smoke in their wake. The Atragon didn’t let up with its assault, and soon added a barrage of armor piercing missiles into the mix as well. They hit Gojira with enough force to level an entire city block and kept coming as the Atragon unloaded its entire ordinance of both weapons on the radioactive titan. The explosions from both the cannons and the artillery hitting its target could be heard clearly from nearly 10 miles away and cast both Gojira and the heart of Osaka in a harsh orange glow.

Seconds turned into minutes, and when Hidachi finally ceased the assault, a cloud of smoke hundreds of feet tall stretched into the night sky. As he watched the central screen, his eyes widened in shock once the dust had settled. There, standing unmoved in the same spot, was Gojira… And he was completely undamaged. In fact, the entire assault looked to have not laid a single scratch on him! The only effect it had on the creature was his mood; he was thoroughly annoyed now, evident by a low growl that could be felt from every squad member even from their elevated position.

Hidachi bared his teeth in frustration before turning to Ryu. “Get the maser guns online and stat!” He ordered.

“Sir!” Ryu acknowledged and brought the weapons to life, as Mitzuki wordlessly aimed the left side of the Atragon at Gojira. “Maser guns locked and loaded, sir! On your mark!” Ryu affirmed.

Wasting no time, Hidachi sounded the command, “FIRE!”

Like streams of harnessed lightning themselves, the masers erupted with a brutal “CRACK!” from their cannons and surged towards Gojira with amazing swiftness. The volley of electrical beams hit their mark right in the center of the monster’s chest. Gojira’s body ceased up as he found himself actually being forced back by the streams of energy. The currents raced through his body, attacking his nervous system and singeing his hide. Gojira let out a low howl of annoyance and pain and turned away from the maser fire.

“YES, HELL YES! We’re hurting him!” Adam excitedly said.

“Keep the pressure on! Don’t give him any room to breathe!” Hidachi exclaimed.

They were doing it, they were hurting Gojira! At this rate, G-Squad would have him good and buried before sunrise; victory was in the cards for all of Japan tonight. Or, that is what they thought. Slowly, Gojira turned to face down his foolish attackers and began to march towards them.

Adam’s eyes grew as big as dinner plates, “What… No, no no NOOOO, we were hurting him! What the hell happened?!”

Hidachi was silent. He just watched on in disbelief as Gojira stomped closer to them, despite having nearly a dozen masers slamming into his chest. “Ryu, what the hell is going on?! Are the maser guns still operating at full capacity?” He demanded.

Ryu nodded vigorously, “No signs of weakness or anything, sir! They’re still running at 100%!”

The captain clenched his teeth. What the hell was going on?! They were just winning! What changed? Swearing to himself, Hidachi turned to Mitzuki and said, “Fall back and position the Atragon to face a different angle! Maybe that will work!”

But, before Mitzuki could do as she was told, the entire room’s attention was turned to the sudden blinding blue light being cast. Upon quick revelation, they found that the light was resonating from… Gojira. Or more specifically, it was emanating from the dorsal fins on his back. Then, a ball of energy, pure radiation, started to conglomerate within his terrible maw. It grew and grew until it nearly filled Gojira’s entire mouth, and, with a loud snort, he unleashed the blue hell at the Atragon. The massive stream of blue hell raced towards the ship at what had to be supersonic speed, and like a million raging freight trains, it slammed into the side of the ship with enough force to immediately cause it to spin out of control like a giant top. And, that was just from a glancing blow.
Everyone onboard screamed and held on for dear life, some of which having even been ripped from their chairs and were now tumbling and bouncing across the room. Mitzuki tried with all her might to get the Atragon stabilized, but it was no use; the flight controls had been totally fried just from that one hit alone. They were all at the mercy of gravity now.

Hidachi tried to crawl and pull himself towards some of his men, but as he glanced at the one monitor that was still working, he saw that they were swiftly approaching the Earth. He grabbed on to a nearby pole, held on as tightly as he could, and screamed, “Brace for impact!!!”

Without warning, the Atragon crashed into the city streets below, tumbling once before sliding through several buildings and taking whole chunks out of them. It continued to slide for several hundred feet, before finally, coming to a stop upside down in a huge pile of rubble. Minutes turned into several as the battleship laid there unmoved, its hull having been severely damaged from both the sheer heat of the blast, and the monumental amount of force behind it. Inside, the entire command center had been destroyed, glass and metal were everywhere, and ripped wiring sparked and crackled with constant ferocity.

Hidachi rolled over onto his side, coughing up blood and moaning in agony from his newly broken ankle and wrist. He craned his sore neck to check on the rest of his crew and found both Mitzuki and Ryu trying to claw themselves up. Mitzuki had sustained multiple gashes to both of her cheeks, and a broken arm, whilst Ryu had a large cut on his forehead and a dislocated right shoulder. As a few more operatives began to stir, Hidachi breathed a pained sigh of relief.

“Is… Is everyone alright?” He immediately asked. He got some yeses, some still weren’t sure, and a lot of noes. Cursing loudly to himself as he did so, Hidachi managed to pull himself up onto a nearby chair and helped Mitzuki to sit in it.

“Captain, captain, Adam is… He’s not responding, sir! I think he’s unconscious!” A soldier stated as he was desperately shaking the former.

Hidachi hobbled his way over to the boy, knelt and cradled his head in his arms. He put his hear up to Adam’s chest and was relieved to hear that he still had a pulse, albeit a rather faint one. “Ryu, can we send for an immediate evac?” Hidachi inquired.

“Negative, sir, the blast from Gojira must’ve fried the entire logic board to the ship; we’re stuck here for now. And worse yet, the radiation levels are off the charts in here.” Ryu solemnly stated.

Britannia swore under his breath as he lifted Adam in his arms. “Alright, listen up: Whoever is still able to stand and walk, I need you all to help your fellow brothers and sister out by escorting them outside. It’s not safe in here anymore. Let’s move out, and quickly!” He commanded. Those who could walk all did what Hidachi said and helped the wounded outside of the ship through an emergency exit door on the top of it, which was now conveniently the bottom.

Once Hidachi slowly hobbled his way outside with Adam’s limp form still in his arms, he found everyone else staring up at something in horrified awe. He followed their gaze and immediately found the source, which caused his grey eyes to darken in seething anger. Several blocks away, standing in the rain with his back turned to the humans, was Gojira. As the rain poured, lightning began to strike his dorsal fins repeatedly. Gojira raised his head up, threw it back, and screamed to the top of his lungs as he basked in the lightning storm.
SKREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-NNNNNK!!!

Deep below the earth lay a secret completely unknown to the upper lands. A colossal cavern the size of a large island, cut off from the rest of the world for over 65 million years. In this land lit by crystals unknown to man and warmed by heat of the planets core, life from the earths ancient past flushed. Long ago their ancestors had come here to escape the great calamity that injured the very eco-system itself and threatened them all with extinction. These creatures were dinosaurs.

In this isolated eden they continued to flourished as they had done for countless years. In time they grew larger, stronger and more intelligent, yet they never lost their primal nature. Always they stuck to the laws that had governed them since time immemorial, the laws of nature. They lived in tune with their world, only taking what they needed and in turn giving back. They didn't care for the upper world their ancestors had left, they had all they wanted here. Food was abundant, the cavern had it's own lakes and it's large size insured suitable weather. It was a paradise... but as with all things change eventually comes.

In resent years, desire, greed and arrogance grew in the minds of some of the dinosaurs. Yes they had plenty, but they could have so much more if they returned to the surface. At first this was looked on by the rest as just the musings of day dreaming hatchlings but soon this way of thinking became more prevalent and spoken of openly. Some individuals went to surface and returned with tails of the humans and how they were poisoning the planet with their "mammal ways". With this news, fear also began to infect the minds of the dinosaurs, for what could happen if the humans found their hidden world and poisoned it like they did their own. These dark thoughts hung over the dinosaurs but were never acted on... until Ururu rose to power.

Ururu was from the mighiest of the carnivore clans, a Tyrannosaurous Rex and he was far mightier then any of his kin. Not only was he strong, but he was also blessed with an IQ of over 300 and powerful psychic abilities. With his power caim ambition. To him the life of a simple alpha predator was so lacklustre. He was far greater then any dinosaur to ever exist and with his power he could not just rule the food chain, he would rule all dinosaurs and the world as king.

Ururu soon talked and intimidated a large number of similur minded dinosaurs around to his way of thinking and with their help he began the creation of what he called "The Dinosaur Kingdom". Those who didn't listen to words or threats were ether mind controlled or killed. Soon Ururu had his kingdom. All dinosaurs were now underlings to the mighty Dinosaur King Ururu wither they liked it or not.

…………………………………………………….

At the centre of the Dinosaur Kingdom was a colossal spire that joined with the roof of the cavern. At it's base was a cave of grand size which granted it's occupant a luxurious home by dinosaur standards. It was here that Ururu made his abode.

Ururu had sensed the changes in the world above. He didn't know exactly what the cause was but he felt it by instinct and with his powerful mind. The time to expand his kingdom had come. He raised himself up from his resting position and made his way to the mouth of his home. He stepped out into the light of the crystals above and looked down upon his kingdom. Below stretched a beautiful grass land with patches of larger vegetation spread across it, at the heart of the paradise was one of the caverns larger lakes. Across this paradise were all manor of dinosaurs going about their daily business. "And it and they are all mine" though Ururu proudly. Wasting no further time, Ururu let out a thunderous roar that echoed across the entire Dinosaur Kingdom. Every dinosaur stopped in unison and looked towards their king, none daring to ignore the Ururu's voice.

"Gorgo!" Ururu bellowed "Come here now!"

In the grass land, a Gorgosaurus who had only just begun to tuck into his freshly killed prey, roared his reply "Coming my king!" Gorgo began making his way to the towards Ururu's cave, his mouth still stained with blood. He was soon out of the grass lands and into the rocky foot hills that sarounded the central spire. Grumbaling all the way, he'd barely eaten enough to take the edge of his hunger, Gorgo was soon within sight of his king. Ururu took stock of Gorgo as he came closer. The Gorgosaurus had been amoung the dinosaurs to willingly follow Ururu from the begining. While not the greatest example of their kind, Gorgo was strong, a resonable successful predator and most importantly of all loyal enough for what Ururu had in mind.

"Gorgo" Ururu rumbled "The time has come for the Dinosaur Kingdom to expand beyond this cavern. We shall begin our conquest of the outer world." Gorgo nodded his understanding, making shore to show no sign of his annoyance at having his meal interrupted. "I'm sending you as a vanguard" continued Ururu "You are to travel to the outer world and establish a territory there. It will act as a suitable staging ground for our conquest." Again Gorgo nodded but then asked, "Alone my king?" An irritated sound emanated from Ururu's lips and Gorgo was about to back away but the Dinosaur King's voice stopped him cold. "Yes, alone" stated Ururu with a blatant threatening tone "Besides you have mental power similur to my own, you can turn the beasts of the outer world into an army to aid you in the task should you find it difficult." Ururu's voice took on a mocking tone as he continued "Or perhaps you feel you are not fit for this task, maybe I should choose a fitter dinosaur who can better serve his king?"

While Gorgo's fear of Ururu would have made him do as he was told, the Dinosaur King's last words had stung his pride. "I will do as you command my King, as soon as I've finished my mea..". "You will go now!" growled Ururu "Do not worry about your meat, I will personally see to it that it dose not go to waist." Gorgo wanted to object but Ururu's tone and posture showed that the Dinosaur King's patience was wearing thin, so he simple bowed and took his leave.

Satisfied, Ururu began making his way to the grass lands and Gorgo's kill. He wasn't that hungry but he enjoyed exercising his authority. As he walked the Dinosaur King allowed himself a small chuckle. Ururu's goal was in reality to gain further knowledge on what the humans were capable. Also he had sensed something else on the outer world, a powerful presence much like his own. Better to send one of his more expendable warriors like Gorgo to test the water, then put himself in harms way unnecessary.

A middle-aged japanese man enters a horizontal sliding door into a large room with chrome walls and various blinking terminals. The man wears a silver jumpsuit with some form of belt around his waist consisting of several scale-like plates made of a reflective black metal. On the buckle of this belt rests a metal ornament resembling the head of an ape-like being; it's sunken eyes and sculpted mane of hair give it a feral appearance. On his left arm is an armband made of the same black, scale-like plates as his belt but does not have any decorative ornaments on it. Perhaps his most distinguishing feature is the greenish-black patch of skin around his right eye, which could be either some kind of injury or perhaps a form of war-paint. Flanking him are two other men of different ethnicities wearing the same silver jumpsuits, however theirs lack any distinguishing characteristics like the older man's. Unlike the older man however, these men sport silver helmets with two antenna-like structures jutting from the sides and an opaque black visor covering their eyes. On both sides of the helmet near the temples are red, comma-shaped symbols with a white circle in the middle. To the common eye, it would appear that the older man is definitely some sort of authority figure, possibly a commander of sorts. All three men are armed with a strange, pistol-like weapon that is unlike anything else on Earth; it's design is sleek and almost simplistic, and it too sports a chrome luster.

The three men continued across the room as the door behind them shut with a loud mechanical thud. The dizzying light show of terminals in the room reflected on their shiny jumpsuits as they approached another door with a black, camera-like apparatus on the left side of the door. All three men stop in front of the door before a voice comes in over the speaker on the camera-like device.

"Alpha!"

Without a moment wasted, the man to the right of the commander, a dark-skinned individual, steps forward and approaches the camera and speaks loudly and clearly to it.

"Centaurus!"

Seconds later, the camera device retracts into the wall and another horizontal sliding door opens, revealing a very large room full of men and women dressed in similar silver jumpsuits and antenna helmets. Like the previous room, this one's walls are the same silvery hue. Unlike the previous however, the terminals and computers appear to be much more sophisticated and appear to serve a much different purpose. One such terminal across the room next to a massive observation window displays what appears to be some sort of progress meter and the wire-frame schematic for some sort of massive construct. Emerging from the crowd of busy workers is another Japanese man wearing opaque sunglasses and sporting a trimmed goatee, as well as an arm-band made of the same scale-like plates as the older man who entered the room. The man would stop right in front of the older man and stretch his right arm across his chest with his fist balled up in some sort of salute.

"Kuronuma, sir. We are grateful that you've arrived. I take it your arrival here was without...complications?"

"Yes, and it was exhausting. Give me a report on the progress you've made"

Kuronuma ordered his subordinate. The two men accompanying Kuronuma stepped aside and remained at the door as their commander and this new individual walked towards a strange, computer-like device on the far end of the room. The large computer consisted of several thick silver cables connected to large, cylindrical modems and in the center of it all was a green holographic screen displaying various data in an unknown language.

The man with the goatee approached the screen and swiped right on the screen, bringing up an entirely new array of data on the screen as Kuronuma approached, leaning forward and squinting his eyes to read the data on the screen.

"Our agents have infiltrated various organizations on Earth, and as a result we have amassed a significant deal of information regarding the inner workings of some of their military and political factions. Most importantly, we have acquired a wealth of data on the other monsters that inhabit this planet. It appears that our scientists where correct; Godzilla is merely one out of dozens, possibly hundreds of other giant beings roaming this world."

The beared man proudly exclaimed. Kuronuma showed mild annoyance on his face upon learning that there where other monsters on Earth aside from Godzilla. However, Godzilla was undoubtedly the biggest threat out of all these other creatures, and to that end, Kuronuma had a plan to remove him from the equation.

"And the weapon? How close are we to completion?"

Kuronuma inquired, still fixated on the computer screen.

"We've managed to complete the inner frame and are halfway done adding the outer armor plating. All weapon systems are completed and have passed inspection"

The bearded man proudly replied again.

Kuronuma grinned as he reached into the chest pocket of his jumpsuit and pulled out a thick cigar and a strange lighter. He put the cigar in his mouth and lit it before taking a long drag and casually strode to the observation window in the room. The observation window looked into a gigantic chamber clad with the same silvery materiel the rest of the rooms where made of. The walls where lined with mechanical arms and scaffolding where several workers strode back and forth carrying crates and tools. In the center of it all was a gigantic, vaguely dinosaur-like construct. The construct was still clearly incomplete, as parts where visibly missing from it. However slowly, the mechanical arms around the chamber would reach in and connect massive slabs of metal to the unfinished portions, and a second set of arms would bolt the panel into place. An enormous, skeletal arm made of various pistons and metal struts would be lowered into the chamber and inserted into a slot on the left side of the construct's torso, securely plugging into place before it too was bolted on.

Kuronuma took another drag from his cigar, exhaling a thick cloud of smoke before grinning with glee at the sight of the construction.

"It's magnificent."

He said with genuine amazement.

"I must congratulate you, sub-commander. Your work far exceeds my expectations"

Kuronuma said again, as he turned his head slightly to look at the bearded man before focusing his attention back to the unfinished construct.

"Soon MechaGodzilla will be complete, and we can begin the first phase of our plan to destroy Godzilla and initiate colonization!"

Kuronuma finished before chuckling loudly. The bearded man also began to chuckle as he joined his commander in witnessing the completion of their superweapon.

8:06 PM: Tokyo, Japan

Ding-dong! "Attention passengers, this is your captain speaking. We are approaching our destination in Tokyo. Please fasten your seat belt for the descent."

The statement over the flight intercom was enough to awaken the sleeping Madeleine.

"I'm here already?" she mumbled softly to herself. Instinctively, she turned to look out the window she was seated next to. The sky was glowing with a vibrant red-orange hue from the setting sun, which was now only just above the horizon. A wide single golden line ran across the ocean's shimmering glass-like surface below, stretching the star's orange gold tone seemingly endlessly from the air. Patches of dark purple clouds lined and seemed to reach up from where the sky met the land, creating a nice contrast to the bright colors that painted most of the brilliant scene. It truly was a sight to behold. In just a few minutes, dusk would signify the onset of nighttime, as well as the beginning of Madeleine's latest visit to Japan. It was a bit overwhelming, simply put.

Vestiges were still very apparent across Tokyo; signs that the country had experienced an otherworldly hell just over a decade prior. Anomalously empty lots and visible damage to buildings even after extensive repairs were only a few examples. The whole world knew the story of Godzilla: its nuclear origins, the series of incidents that led to the creature's slow siege of the city, and its apparent death at the hands of a tragic scientist. Rumor also had it that another member of its kind had been spotted earlier in the 1960's. Yet Japan's citizens carried on in spite of the grim situation, seemingly keeping the country's modernization in tandem with the rest of the western world. But even when things seemed hopeful, there was still that uneasy question resting on the back of everyone's mind: will it happen again, and if so, when?

As much as Madeleine would like to think of the subject in the same terms as the many B-movies she'd seen in the States, the thought that there is always the possibility that a monster could legitimately wreak havoc made her uneasy. Releasing a nasally sigh as the aircraft began to lower, she pulled her travel bag close, and could only wonder what had changed since her previous visit.

Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean...

The tropical storm that was raging at this time made things difficult for any who were either sailing or brave enough to be flying at this time. Assuming that the latter were below the cloud level that was, but everyone on the ground was dealing with the effects of the storm. People were either trying to desperately batten down hatches and secure doors and windows, at least, those in the cities. The natives of the islands caught in the path of the storm had their own ways of protecting themselves. At any rate, this was a storm that happened to be concealing the appearance of another beast, one who had been awakened by nuclear tests, and was now getting a feel for the world as it was now.

The creature raised its head out of the water, and looked around. It's head was draconian, yet vaguely felinoid, with straight horns on the back, gleaming blue eyes, ears tucked back against the horns, and a pair of fangs on the top of the mouth at the front of the muzzle stuck out, being the only teeth its lips couldn't conceal. Orange was the predominant color, while the muzzle and front of the neck were white with black stripes adorning it. It was clear though that the body was still under the surface as it bobbed from the wake. It breathed in through its enormous nostrils, attempting to gain a beat on any smells that were out of place. Well, as out of place as they could be in this weird world humanity seemed to have assumed to role of ruling.

It then dove under once it got what it was after. Destruction, fire and a huge spike of radiation that did not belong in this world of lowered radiation. It was similar to what had awakened it early from its slumber, and now it was intent on discovering what was up with these surges of nuclear radiation. There were those who had seen the head, and based on lore and legend, they knew it was an ancient God of the sea. They shocked, and called out its name... Though it would eventually be given a new name, Walterrus, and he was now heading for Osaka...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somewhere in Indonesia...
Night had settled several hours ago, and a family was preparing their meals after a hard day of farming. They were looking towards the future with the expectation of another harvest, one that would be as good as the last one. Though this would be disturbed as the earth began to violently shake, sending belongings everywhere and panicking the family, as the ground in a nearby valley broke open.
Rocks and stones were pushed and shoved out of the way as something alive literally clawed its way out. Horrifying, and yet hauntingly beautiful, a beast that was felinoid raised up on its hind legs, showing some human features as it did so, and let out a long yawn, having awoken after centuries of slumber. The creature looked up at the moon with blue eyes, light gleaming off of its exposed fangs. This one was toned in its build, and slender, covered in white fur with black stripes. It then began to move in an eastern direction of the place it had awakened from, going to all fours. Whatever had caused it to awaken, it was due to her nature as a guardian that something was wrong... Deeply wrong, and she was now heading off to find and correct this wrong.
As she moved, people would see her, and they whispered her name to each other. Others were stricken with fear, while most were simply too stunned to move. The family who had their dinner interrupted, cursed their luck, taking this as an omen as they spoke of her name. A name which when translated, was that of a legendary Goddess whose presence meant a dire situation was to come. A Goddess of war, Byakkan, The White Tiger Protector.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meanwhile in Tokyo...

A man was making his way through the crowds. He was clearly of mixed herritage, or appeared to be as he looked like a Japanese American who was visiting. In reality, this man was not human, but had a guise to cover his real appearance. If anyone were to see it, it would be impossible for him to move about openly. Hence, he took on this appearance, and attempted to blend in with the people. It wasn't long before he found a news building that had these new things called televisions set up around the window. They were all set to the building's news, of course, so it made for an easy way for people who were passing by to catch a glimpse of what was going on.

That was when he heard of it, and took interest in what the news was saying. Apparently, there were unconfirmed reports of Godzilla in Osaka, though this was corrected shortly as it was confirmed that Godzilla was there. But as it was difficult to get a proper broadcast signal, they couldn't show any actual footage. But they had mentioned that the self defense forces had dispatched a weapon designed to take care of this monster, as well as others. The anchor said that they would report as soon as they knew more before switching to another developing story, but the news still caught the man's attention as he placed a hand on his chin. "Godzilla in Osaka, huh?" He said to himself as he stepped back to give himself some room to verbally converse with himself, and not gain anyone's attention. "I did come to this planet to help with the rise in monsters... And Godzilla is perhaps the biggest fish, so dealing with him is a priority, just gotta get there." He then started to make his way towards a location where some of his human friends were at so that they could give him an assist. This being the location of a science group based in this country of course. "Cole, it looks like your lucky day may have arrived..." He chuckled to himself as he picked up the foot pace.

Back in the ruins of Osaka...

As the rain continued to pour with no signs of easing up anytime soon, the members of G-Squad were huddled together in a large circle. Some were busy tending to the wounded as best they could, while others sat in shock from what had just transpired. Hidachi sat with Adam still cradled in his arms, as he stared off into space, mentally replaying the devastating blow they’d taken tonight. One hit, just one hit is all it took for Gojira, or, “Godzilla”, as most now referred to him as, to take down the JSDF’s most potent weapon in its arsenal. The man was still trying to wrap his head around it, how something like that could have been possible. Just how powerful was that damn creature, really?

Ryu had his head resting on his knees, when suddenly, he both heard and felt a rumbling above him. He glanced up to look, and was immediately greeted by the best news G-Squad had had all night. “Look there, Captain, above us!” He shouted.

Hidachi was shaken from his trance and turned to look at Ryu, before following his point upward. It was there that he saw the unmistakable lights and the hum of propeller blades from a transport helicopter, suspended above them. Hidachi swiftly flagged the aircraft down, to which the latter proceeded to land safely away from the stranded crew.

Seconds later, five soldiers rushed out of the chopper and towards their fellow operatives, immediately beginning to tend to the wounded. One soldier rushed over to Hidachi and knelt to check on the man.

“Captain Britannia, sir! Are you alright?” The soldier asked.

Hidachi held his hand up and nodded, “I’m fine, don’t you worry at all about me. Just see to it that this young man here, and the rest of my crew are transported to a sick bay, ASAP. This one’s name is Adam Smith.” He stated before carefully resting Adam’s body in the soldier’s arms.

The latter gave a quick nod, “Right away, sir.” He obliged and started off, but stopped mid step and looked back at Hidachi. “Did you do it, Captain Britannia? Is he...”

Hidachi slowly shook his head no in response, “He’s gone, soldier.” He muttered and pointed back at the Atragon, “Took out my ship in one shot, and escaped back into the sea.”

The soldier nodded solemnly, “Oh, I-I’m sorry to hear that, sir.”

“Yeah, well... We’ll get him next time, of that I’m sure. In any case, how were you guys able to find us?”

The soldier motioned towards the ship, “When HQ saw that the signal to your ship was down, they immediately sent us. Sorry it took us so long, sir; this rain has really made a mess of things tonight”. He said.

“You’re telling me.” Hidachi agreed. “Speaking of HQ, tell them that one transport helicopter won’t be enough, and that we need at least one more. And, have them prepare at least a dozen hospital rooms for my crew.”

“Yes sir.” The soldier affirmed and quickly headed off towards his other squad mates. “Alright, listen up, we’ve got new orders! We need another transport heli down here STAT! Let’s get these people out of here!”

“Sir?” A familiar voice suddenly called out to Hidachi. He looked up to see Ryu standing in front of him, now with a bandage wound tightly around his head. “The helicopter is ready for takeoff, Captain, you coming?” He asked.

Hidachi shook his head, “You and Mitzuki go on with anyone else that can fit; I’m gonna stay here and wait for the other chopper to arrive.” He stated. “Oh, and you get some rest and get those wounds tended to, that’s an order.” Hidachi weakly smiled.

Ryu returned the expression, “Yes sir.” He murmured softly and headed off towards the aircraft.

Hidachi’s smile slowly faded as he watched the helicopter slowly ascend into the sky and head off, getting smaller and smaller by the minute, before it finally disappeared from sight. The man fell onto his back closed his eyes, as the cool rain pitter pattered on his face.

“Gojira... You and I are far from finished.” He thought to himself. “Next time, I will make sure that you die by my hand... That is certain.”

Gorgo erupted from the ground in an explotion of rock and dirt. After leaving Ururu he had mad his way to the edge of the Dinosaur Kingdom and in to one of the many cave systems that connected to the hidden world. From there he simple followed his instincts and made his way closer to the surface. Once he was a close as he could possible get on foot, he began tunnelling his way upward. While not the fastest root, it wasted less energy then trying to burrow right from the Kingdom, a good thing because he was still hungry.

The place Gorgo had arrived at was known to the humans as Kamiyama, Japan, but naturally the dinosaur didn't know this and he likely wouldn't have cared. Once free of the earth, he shook himself off and examined his surroundings. The landscape was very appealing with lots of mountains and forests, he could also smell an abundance of creatures although none he could identify. A suitable place to claim as a territory. It was then Gorgo picked up on a small but clear sound coming from near his feet.

Looking down, the dinosaur spotted what appeared to be, based on what he had been told, three humans. For some reason the small things were just standing there, staring and making a lot of unintelligible noise. Why the pathetic little things didn't run like prey should was beyond Gorgo, he tried probing their minds but all he got was pure panic and fear. It was at that moment that Gorgo's stomach reminded him of it's plight. Being a carnivore and with nothing else more substantial in line of sight, the dinosaur followed his instincts, leaned down and snapped up the humans in his jaws. Their meat was different from the prey back home. Not as tough or savoury but not unpleasant either, it had a sweet after taste. Unfortunately the three humans had been less the a mouth full and did little to curb Gorgo's hunger.

Looking around for more food Gorgo eventually spied a bear within the forest and quickly caught it. This meat was not nice at all. Gammy, far to hairy and tasted vile. It was so unpalatable he spat it out. The whole thing exacerbated Gorgo's already hunger fuelled, bad mood. He scented the air and began making his out of valley he'd surfaced in. He could smell more of the humans, a lot more.

It didn't take him long to come in sight of what his nose had detected, a herd of humans. They seemed to have turned an large patch of bare ground into nesting area by Gorgo's assessment. Interestingly they didn't seem to have any kind of sentinels or guards, mammals were strange but from what little he had seen so far their behaviour, these humans were baffling to Gorgo. It was like they had no common sense. But baffling as it was there was no denying that it would make achieving his goal a whole lot easier.

Gorgo began formulating his hunting strategy. While the humans clearly seemed defenceless and ripe for the taking, that might not actually be the case. Also if he just charged in and started snapping them up, the majority could bolt and he wouldn't get enough to eat. "But... why should I do all the work?" said to himself. He then turned to the forest around him, a forest teeming with life. Life that was, at this moment, cowering in fear and looking right at him. Gorgo smiled as his eyes began to glow red. Within a matter of moments, every creature in the surrounding forst that made the mistake of looking Gorgo in the eye was under the psychic control of the giant gorgosaurus.

Once he had enslaved enough creatures to put his plan into action, Gorgo instructed his makeshift army to move towards the humans.

Back at the hidden underground base in Okinawa, the final stages of MechaGodzilla's construction where underway. The body was almost completely covered in glistening armor plates that where bolted together with rivets. This gave the machine's body an industrial, heavy-duty appearance. Finally, the robot's reptillian head was lowered onto the neck and was secured to the body with a metallic clunk! sound. The robot's dimmed eyes flashed a fiery red-orange for a brief moment, indicating that all major connection points where attached successfully.

Kuronuma sat in a silver colored rolling chair, holding a glass of green liquid in his right had while looking at a display screen that gave an overview of MechaGodzilla's many systems as well as a wire-frame model of the robot. Kuronuma smiled and took a sip of the green liquid before turning the chair to face another man who was dressed much differently from the others. He wore a dark blue suit and pants with a black undershirt, and brown formal shoes. His hair was long and combed, and he had a mustache on his face. Overall the man looked quite intimidating, and had an intense stare.

"Agent 9, your orders are to infiltrate the G-Force organization and gather as much intel as you can about the whereabouts of Godzilla. We've been unsuccessful in locating the creature ourselves, but we believe G-Force may be more...knowledgeable in this regard. Maintaining your cover is of the utmost importance, and you will use any means necessary to remain undetected, including assassination"

Kuronuma said as he stood up, taking another sip of his beverage. He approached a large computer with several blinking green and white lights. He reached for a slot in the center of the machine and pulled out small booklet from it that contained falsified identification papers and a passport. Upon retrieving the booklet, he approached the Agent and handed him the papers, which the Agent took and placed in his pants pocket.

"You will be operating under the alias of "Yanagawa" and have been instated as a Security Adviser for G-Force. Once you've learned the location of Godzilla, download the information onto this device and transmit it back to headquarters"

Kuronuma said as he reached into his jumpsuit pocket and pulled out a strange, silver cylindrical device with a spherical crystal on the end. The center of the device was ringed with blinking green lights that glowed an emerald green. Kuronuma handed Yanagawa the device before returning to his chair and finishing his beverage, placing the glass on a oval-shaped metal table.

"Time is of the essence, Agent. MechaGodzilla is ready to be deployed and the final piece of the puzzle is the location of Godzilla. Once we find him, we can kill him. Then nothing will be able to stand in our way; man nor monster!"

Kuronuma exclaimed with a sinister grin on his face. The alien commander casually leaned back in his chair and pulled a cigar and lighter out of his jumpsuit, lighting the cigar with a green flame before taking a long drag.

"I understand, sir"

The Agent replied before preforming a salute and leaving the room. Yanagawa had the foresight to arm himself with a weapon in the form of the pistol-like weapon the guards had. However his was specially modified to accept a scope and a longer barrel, allowing for a sort of sniper configuration. The pistol and it's accessories where stored in a secret compartment within the Agent's suitcase as he made his way out of the base and into the caves where the base was hidden. Upon taking a secret passageway out of the caves, the agent arrived at a bus stop. From there he would take the bus to the nearest airport en-route to Tokyo, where G-Forces headquarters where located. While on the bus, he took the time to study his identification papers and memorized all of the information on them so he would be able to flawlessly introduce and identify himself should be be questioned. He also took the time to pin his falsified ID badge onto the breast pocket of his blue suit.
After an hour of driving, the bus finally arrived at the airport, and Yanagawa exited the vehicle. He took a moment to look around at the enormous crowds of people of various ethinicities and nationalities going to and fro. His face was stone cold and emotionless, but in his mind he could think of only one thing.

"Human scum"

He thought. Scurrying around the airport like they where, they resembled grotesque insects in a hive. He was particularly disgusted by the mere fact that he had to disguise himself as one of these primitives. Yanagawa was almost eager to complete his mission, just so his people could eradicate these vile beings with MechaGodzilla and enslave the rest. However all of that would come in due time, for now, he had work to do. Entering Terminal A, Yanagawa only had to wait a short while before the plane was ready to be boarded. He quickly moved in to board the plane before the other humans even had a chance to get up out of their seats. Yanagawa kept his suitcase with him as he took a seat and began to wait for the rest of the passengers to board and for the plane to take off.
But then, just when he thought it couldn't get any worse, a particularly rotund human wearing a blue hat plopped himself down in the seat next to Yanagawa. For once, Yanagawa displayed a form of emotion: discomfort and annoyance. He cast a glance at the fat human from the corner of his eyes; the clothes barely fit this creature, and it emitted a foul odor. Not only that, but the seat it sat in was barely able to accommodate it and it's arms spilled onto Yanagawa's arm rest. Yanagawa cleared his throat loudly, which the corpulent human took note of and moved it's arm away. This was going to be a long trip....

JSDF Headquarters; Shinjuku District, Tokyo, Japan
Peering into the room before cautiously entering, an intelligence officer hesitated for a moment before clearing his throat.

"S-Sir? I'm afraid I've got bad news.." he nervously spoke.

The leather chair that would normally be facing the man's direction was turned around, towards the window behind it. A huff of smoke exhaled from the headrest.

"What seems to be the matter?" a gruff voice spoke from it.

"We.. We have lost the Atragon, sir," the officer replied.

In that moment, time felt as though it had slowed to a crawl; more so than it was prior this news was broken to the General of JSDF Army forces. The tension could be felt in the air, and it was heavy. With a gentle flick of the cigar in the man's hand, a small bit of ashes fell to the ground; and Sho Hashimoto turned his chair around to face the officer.

Raising an eyebrow alongside a slight hint of concern on his face, Sho's next question was "What's the crew's status?"

"They requested an evac chopper. It arrived at the scene and airlifted those in desperate need of attention, Hidachi opted to stay behind and requested another chopper, which is currently en route. Fatalities, if any, have not been reported,"

"That captain and his arrogance sometimes.. It's something of an annoyance. Any idea where that reptilian bastard is at this time?"

"Negative, sir. Atragon was the last vessel to know its position," the officer responded.

Slamming his cigar onto his desk, Sho rested his arms on the desk, pressed both of his hands together and rubbed his forehead in frustration. "Alright, officer, that will be all.." he grumbled in frustration.

"Right," the officer hastily replied, and left the general to himself. Facing his anger was never something of a pretty sight.

Walking from the staircase off the plane, Madeleine made her way with the numerous other passengers to the Haneda Airport terminal. Having arrived almost 20 minutes ahead schedule, she wondered how long she'd have to wait before Yuzo would arrive take her home. Uneasily looking for a place to sit while she waited, that overwhelming thought came back to her. She'd forgotten Japan wasn't quite welcoming to foreigners just yet; for she not only stuck out like a sore thumb, but had trouble of getting any idea on where to go, given that everything still read in Kanji.

"Hey Maddie!" a familiar voice shouted.

Madeleine's face lit up at the sound of this voice. She turned around, and Yuzo stood there just a short distance away. "Hiiii!" she exclaimed, and quickly moved to the once face she could recognize. While she initially ran for a hug, she remembered to show restraint; giving a bow to her friend, as he did back. "It's great to see you again! I've been looking forward to this visit for a while now!" Madeleine exclaimed excitedly.

"Yeah, I've been waiting for this too!" Yuzo responded.

"Alright, let's get out of here.. I was on the verge of an anxiety attack from how much I forgot about this place," Madeleine said with a bit of a tired tone in her voice.

Yuzo nodded, and with that, the two began to head for the airport's exit, soon to be at the residence of Yuzo in the heart of Tokyo.

JSDF Headquarters
11:30 AM

Hidachi awoke under a slew of blinding lights shone in the ceiling above. As his mind started working, he discovered that he was in a hospital room inside of the JSDF's ER department. Hidachi tried to rise from his bed, but a sudden and sharp pain in his side argued against that. He groaned in agony before feeling a pair of hands gently rest of his shoulders and push him back down. Hidachi looked to the left side of him to see a young nurse staring at him.

"Try not to move, sir, you have a few broken ribs as well as your ankle and wrist." She calmly affirmed.

Hidachi did as she instructed and settled back into his bed. "Where are the rest of my crew?" He asked her.

"Most of them have already been discharged and sent home." Said the nurse as she went to fold some fresh sheets. "The few that are still here are currently being treated, but none of them sustained any major injuries for what happened last night." She stopped and looked at Hidachi, "You and your crew are very lucky, Captain."

Hidachi grunted silently whilst peering up at the ceiling, but then his eyes lit up as he remembered about Adam, his young redheaded recruit. "And what about Adam? Smith? Where is he? Is he alright?" He asked.

The nurse turned to him, "He's currently getting treated two rooms over, sir. He sustained a concussion, a broken collarbone and leg, but otherwise, he'll make a full recovery."

Hidachi, with all of his willpower, raised himself up from his bed and threw his legs over to one side. "I need to see go him." He stated.

The nurse frantically tried to get the stubborn Captain to lay back down, but Hidachi wasn't having any of it. "But sir! You need to rest, you still haven't recovered enough to just-"

"I need to go see him. Right now." Hidachi firmly opposed, causing the nurse to back away and oblige him silently. Hidachi looked at her and sighed; he didn't mean to have been so harsh. He grabbed the pair of crutches sitting beside his bed, stood himself up and headed for the door. He stopped at the entrance and looked back at the nurse, "I won't be gone long." He murmured softly before limping off.

When Hidachi arrived to Adam's room, he peered inside and found no one in it, only the latter lying ever so still in his bed and fast asleep. Hidachi made his way over to the young man and gazed down at him, noting the bandage wrapped around his head, the cast around his neck, and all the various little scars and bruises across his person. Hidachi just sighed and placed his good hand on Adam's arm and squeezed it. Then, as he turned to leave, he heard Adam suddenly call out to him.

"Captain?" Adam weakly croaked.

Hidachi turned around to find the boy looking at him through tired eyes, causing for the former to smile. "Hey, kid! How're you feeling?" Hidachi quietly asked.

Adam shifted uncomfortably in his bed, "Bruised and banged up, but I'll live to fight another day. How bout you?"

Hidachi pointed at himself, "No worse for wear, I'll be fine."

Adam smiled feebly and nodded, "I'm glad, sir... Captain? Did we get him?" He hopefully asked.

Hidachi's smile faded some and he slowly shook his head. "Not this time... But he won't get away next time, I promise." He reassured.

"I hope so, I want some payback for that bastard ruining my date tonight." Adam mused.

Hidachi smiled and rested his hand on the boy's arm, "Get some rest, son." He murmured, before he turned and headed out of the room.

Not having got five feet from Adam's room, Hidachi found himself being flagged down by a doctor. "Captain Britannia, phone call for you, sir." The doctor stated.

At first, Hidachi waved the man off and continued on to his room, stating, "Whoever it is, tell them to call back later; I've got to get back to my bed before my nurse has an aneurysm."

"Sir..." The doctor insisted, causing for Hidachi to pause in his tracks. "... It's your daughter." The man calmly confirmed.

Hidachi's face lit up at the news, "My daughter?" He asked.

Hidachi hobbled over to the nearest phone hanging on a wall, took it off the receiver and held it up to his ear. "Amori?" He inquired.

"Dad?! Dad, is that you?" Amori's voice frantically asked through the speaker, before Hidachi heard a long sigh of relief. "Thank God you're still alive... Are you okay? What's going on?"

"I-I'm fine, honey, I'm in the ER department at the JSDF. Where are you? Why aren't you in class right now?" Hidachi asked.

"Well, when news broke to the public about what happened, they closed the campus and sent everyone home for the day." Amori responded. "I found the nearest phone and have been calling for an over an hour to talk to you, but they kept saying that you hadn't woken up yet, and then I started to get really worried and..."

"Amori, Amori, breathe sweetie. I'm here now and I'm fine, okay? I promise." Hidachi gently reassured her.

Amori took in a deep breath and sighed again, "Good, but don't do that to me again, alright we're all each other has. I couldn't imagine ever losing you, Dad, so please just... Don't do anything stupid?" She calmly pleaded.

Hidachi smiled to himself, "I won't, I promise."

"Okay, now I'm coming to get you and we're going home."

"Well, they still haven't released me yet, honey; that may take a little while." Hidachi stated.

"Then I'll just sit with you until they do, and then I'm taking you home, okay?" Amori firmly said.

Hidachi snickered, "Okay."

"I love you, Dad." Amori murmured.

"Love you too, sweetie." Hidachi smiled warmly, hung the phone back on the wall, and started back towards his room.

Yanagawa sat at his desk in his new office at G-Force/JSDF Headquarters, typing in the small terminal that sat upon it. Entry into the headquarters had gone without a hitch, and the humans readily accepted his falsified credentials. As a Security Advisor, he now had access to personnel dossiers, building layout, research data, and the location of other G-Force bases: everything he'd need to accomplish his mission, all at his fingertips. The first thing he looked for was any information G-Force compiled on Godzilla's whereabouts that their sensors back at base may have missed. Yanegawa tapped his shoe impatiently as the computer was loading the information he requested. When it finally finished loading, the results where less-than satisfactory: G-Force knew just as little as HQ did about Godzilla's location. The only concrete piece of information that Godzilla was likely hiding somewhere off the coast of Japan and possibly some of the uninhabited islands.

"Damn it"

Yanegawa cursed under his breath. He'd imagined that tracking a gigantic, radioactive monster would be much easier, but apparently not. According to records, G-Force had tried to search for him using warship radar, helicopters and even sonar beacons. All turned up empty. Yanegawa rubbed his chin and contemplated this information. Perhaps he could suggest using some manner of radiation detection to trace Godzilla back to his point of origin? Like it's predecessor, this Godzilla was highly contaminated with radiation, and more than likely would give off a trail. Yanegawa liked the idea the more he thought about it: it wasn't much, but it was a start. Yanegawa closed down the terminal and opened a drawer in his desk, retrieving a pen and paper. He began to write a letter directed to G-Force's top brass with his suggestion, also mentioning that Godzilla's recent attack on Osaka would be the perfect opportunity to try and trace the creature back to it's lair and urged the organization's scientists to launch the investigation as soon as possible

Satisfied with the letter, he folded it in an envelope and got up from his desk to leave his office and walk to the mail room. Yanegawa looked up at the ceiling in the HQ's main atrium as he walked; an enormous footprint in the ceiling allowed light to shine in the room. The atrium had been constructed from the actual remains of the building's original structure that was damaged in the first Godzilla's attack. Miraculously, the roof remained intact, but forever scarred with Godzilla's footprint going clean through. Upon arriving at the mail room, Yanegawa deposited the letter into the drop box and plotted his next course of action; using his position as Security Advisor, he would urge the top brass to be notified of any progress regarding Godzilla's whereabouts under the guise of being prepared for the monster's next attack.

Back at the Okinawa base, Kuronuma personally inspected the now complete MechaGodzilla. He grinned at the sight of his war machine; his engineers truly outdid themselves with this technological marvel and he was most eager for the day that it could finally be sent into battle. Standing next to Kuronuma was the Sub-Commander with the goatee and sunglasses, who similarly shared his leader's admiration of their weapon. From behind, a Caucasian individual wearing the distinct silver jumpsuit and helmet approached his superiors, who turned around to acknowledge him. The lackey preformed the alien's salute and spoke.

"Sir, Agent Yanegawa has successfully entered G-Force's HQ and is in the process of discovering Godzilla's location using a plan he devised"

The lackey reported.

"Excellent! I have the utmost faith in his talents. I expect him to provide us with Godzilla's location very soon"

Kuronuma said with glee, pleased with the progress his grand scheme was making.

"That's not all, sir. We've also detected a signal of unknown origin. Our analysts say it is encrypted in an unknown language that is neither ours nor human, and it does not match any known frequency. They would like your permission to decrypt and make contact with the sender"

The lackey added. Kuronuma raised a brow, expressing both intrigue and surprise. Kuronuma's response came quickly.

"Tell them that they may decrypt the signal, but do not send any reply. I don't suspect whoever is broadcasting this is aware of our presence, but we would be wise to err on the side of caution until we can determine who is sending this signal"

Kuronuma said sternly, his sub commander nodding in approval as well. The lackey saluted and walked back towards the elevator to the control room at a brisk pace. Kuronuma turned to the sub commander.

"As far as I am aware, we are the only species operating in this sector"

Kuronuma said, arms crossed.

"Might I suggest communicating with this new faction off-premise? That way we can maintain our location and contact this new party without risk of being found."

The sub-commander replied. Kuronuma rubbed his chin and slowly nodded in approval.

"An interesting proposition, sub-commander. Perhaps this faction could prove to be useful to our plans if communications prove successful...."

Kuronuma replied with a sinister tone in his voice. Whoever they where, they clearly where not human and where advanced enough for their signal to be detected by their instruments.

"What do you mean I'm too late?" Cole, frustrated, asked his friends from the Kaiju Detection and Research Center(KDRC).

"Exactly as I said." Taichi Kuranagi, a Japanese kaiju researcher in his late 20s and head of the KDRC, replied, "That report was made after Godzilla had already disappeared. Unless it's an attack directly on the city in question, or is likely to lead to that city, the news stations will be late to report it. You were going to miss your shot at Godzilla one way or another." Cole sighed, and pinched the brow of his nose, a habit he had learned from several of his human friends.

"So what you're saying is..." Cole started up, "I need to find a way to get more direct info?"

"Exactly." Taichi nodded, "We have ties with the JSDF, but our job is more to detect kaiju, as our name implies, and then give that info to them. You'll need to consult us if you want the fastest news, or the JSDF. I can provide you with a communicator for that purpose if you so wish."

"I guess..." Cole said, looking at the desktop computers at the facility and the wrist worn device on Taichi's left wrist. "I still find it baffling how you have such advanced technology for a people that only last year still had computers that took up entire buildings and didn't even have phones capable of being moved beyond five meters..."

"War advances technology, Cole." Taichi sighed in slight annoyance. "We've been waging war with Kaiju ever since the first Godzilla appeared twelve years ago."

"I get that." Cole sighed in return, "Believe me, I've seen societies on other worlds that advanced quickly because of war. But here, on Earth? These book sized computers and wireless phones? According to what I've seen, and heard from my fellows, such technology, even with war forcing it along, shouldn't be this advanced for close to half a century yet."

"Well, you underestimate us humans then." Taichi crossed his arms with another huff, "So, will you take one? Maybe even consult the JSDF yourself?"

"I'll take the communicator, but you know damn well why I can't go to the JSDF yet." Cole said, shaking his head. "It wasn't that long ago that you were finding me hard to comprehend. Hell, you wanted to dissect me. I get the feeling that the scientists at the JSDF would want to do the same to me." To this, Taichi couldn't argue as he scratched his brunette colored hair, and let out another sigh.

"I could try to talk with the JSDF higher-ups on that, but maybe you're right..." He said, and then handed Cole a communicator device. "Here, when we detect something, you'll get a notification. Now, if that's all-" He was then interrupted by one of his colleagues.

"Sir." A young Japanese woman spoke up, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we're getting reports of a giant white tiger going through Asia major, and heading towards Osaka by some peoples calculations, and there's another disturbance off the coast of Osaka's shores."

"I see, thank you, Yoko." Taichi said and turned back to Cole. "Well, looks like you may get that chance. It'll take a while to get there, but hopefully you can mitigate and prevent any further damage." Cole simply smirked, his chance was finally nearing.

"Not at all, so long as I get a good jumping off point on the KDRC flyer."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Off the coast of Osaka...
The water churned and broiled as a long tail with orange fur and black stripes, red scales under side, and white spines rose out of the water. The tail started out thicker towards the base, and tapered off to a point where there were spikes make of fur at the tip. The tail then splashed down as Walterrus' head rose above the water and he gained traction on the ocean floor with his feet. He was still a ways out, so only his head, neck, and shoulders were sticking out of the water at this point. He didn't roar as some might expect of a kaiju, no, Walterrus was on a more investigative path. As he didn't want to give away his presence too soon to what he had detected earlier, he chose to stay silent.
Unfortunately, as he now saw, he only found ruins where... whatever was here, had been. Other parts of the city at the further boundaries were still relatively intact, but it was clear something had caused devastation. It wasn't distributed evenly at that, not like what one of those humans bombs had done, no, this was different... This was done by something else... It couldn't be though, could it? Did HE do this? It was clearly unlike the Godzilla he knew to do this level of wanton destruction on things that couldn't fight back. Still, something didn't feel right about this, and he had to take a closer look. He started to head towards shore, slowly revealing more of himself as he did so. First to be revealed were his arms which had red scales running from his mid biceps to his mid-forearms to break up the fur. Each hand had four fingers with white claw tips, and a slender yet muscular build to them. His forest of spines on his back became much more clear as he cleared the water level. As for his torso, it showed similar details, with white running down his chest and stomach. Again, while slender, his build was clearly muscular though more on the toned side. As his legs came into view, they would show a similar level of build, and as much scales were visible on his legs from the mid-thighes to his ankles, with his feet having tree toe claws in front with a rear claw on the "heel." Now that he was on land, he could get a closer look at the devastation...
Gorgo lay on his side, eyes closed, breathing softly and dried blood on his lips. His plan had worked better then he'd hoped. Using his slaves he'd been able to pen in the human herd. He then had set the creatures on the humans, slaughtering them on mass. Gorgo mean while had taken malicious joy in stopping on human nests and snapping up whatever ran out of them. A few humans had escaped but it really didn't matter al that much to Gorgo, just like it didn't matter that he had crushed a few of his slaves underfoot also. Once the attack was finished, he'd had the meat brought to him and began eating greedily. His mind was so absorbed with his meal that he'd lost control of the animels and they, upon seeing the dinosaur, ran for their lives. After eating his fill, Gorgo had settled down for a nap.
Suddenly the direction of the wind changed and Gorgo's nostrils caught a faint but clear sent. The dinosaur's eyes snapped open and instinctively lifted his head to better catch the smell. It smelled like... another dinosaur! Yet it was unlike any he knew and there was something strange about it. It smelled... toxic, like the poisonous rocks found deep in the earth. Why would a dinosaur smell like that? From what he could tell it wasn't sick, in fact it smelled... powerful?! Gorgo had only smelled that kind of sent once befor and that was from Ururu. It was the smell of a true alpha.
At first his instincts overrided his brain with the desire to flee, but as he quickly got to his feet the rational part of his mind kicked in. Firstly the sent was faint, so the alpha was not near by. Second Ururu would want to know and just telling him "I smelled a strange dinosaur" wouldn't be enough. He'd want details and if Gorgo didn't want to get his head literally bitten off, he'd have to get them. His fear of Ururu overpowering his fear of the unknown, Gorgo began tracking the sent which seemed to be coming from the Northeast. Cursing his luck, Gorgo set out on the trail of this strange alpha dinosaur.
Yuzo woke up to sunlight pouring into his bedroom. Squinting a little for his eyes to adjust, he rolled on his side to look at his clock. 11:32 A.M. "Damn it," he thought to himself.
He knew Madeleine was going to experience jet lag for the next few days, and as such, had intended to wake up earlier to keep his friend company. Lazily rising from the covers, Yuzo set out to do his daily routine: brush his teeth, wash his face, comb his hair and get dressed. It was no mystery that his friend was up; for the smell of breakfast lightly hung through the air, as well as conversation between his parents and Maddie. Walking into the area, Yuzo saw his friend sitting on the couch, flipping through television channels as his mother and father sat at the dining table.
"You aren't a very good host to your guests, Yuzo," his mother joked.
"Yeah, your parents have kept me more company than you!" Madeleine chimed in.
"Oh, can it you two," Yuzo hastily shot back. Taking his seat at the table, he began to eat the tamago kake gohan left for him in his spot. After a few bites, he realized Maddie wasn't there with them. "Are you going to have anything?" he asked her.
"I already had my share," she giggled. "It was actually embarrassing to say the least! I had forgotten all about your light foods and customs, it made me feel like a pig!" she laughed.
"I was certainly surprised," Yuzo's father added. "But how can you blame her? She initially came to Japan as a student, not a traveler looking to live here,"
Madeleine continued to flip through the few channels that there were, and as she passed by one, something caught her eye. Going back to it, she saw it was the news channel. The pictures showed a scene of total devastation. Columns of smoke rising from obliterated buildings, people of all sorts rummaging through the carnage in hopes of finding some sort of miracle, and a completely destroyed airship that looked to be of military origin.
Yuzo and his family were talking about things going on in their own lives at the table when he realized his friend had gone quiet. Looking over at her, it looked as though she had just witnessed a murder. "Hey, what's wrong Maddie?" he asked.
"..Where is this?" she uneasily responded.
Rising from his pillow at the table, he went over to get a look at what she was seeing. Reading the text that ran across the screen, Yuzo tried to take in details.
"Osaka.." he said in disbelief. He had heard that a nasty storm system was moving across that area of Japan the day prior, but the devastation was unlike anything he had ever seen. Yuzo's parents joining in to see what the two youths were looking at, they were just as equally shocked. The text across the screen spoke of a monster appearing in the midst of a harsh thunderstorm at Osaka, and the JSDF had used the best craft at their disposal to contend with it, only for the creature to effortlessly bring it out of the sky. It seemed the only success was turning the creature away from pushing further into the city. To Yuzo's parents, the scene looked all too familiar to that of the city they were in now, just over a decade ago.
"I've got a bad feeling about this.." Yuzo's father spoke.
As he entered his room to get back to resting, Hidachi was both surprised and a bit frightened to see none other than General Hashimoto seated in the room waiting for him.
"Heard you took quite a beating out there, captain," he spoke. "Just fourteen hours ago, I was furious about all of this. A supposedly gentle variant of the monster that lit a ring of fire around this city laying waste to Osaka, the loss of the Atragon, and you opting to stay behind in that danger zone. But I've since had time to calm down and get a hold of myself. How are you feeling?"
Immediately upon seeing General Hashimoto casually sat in his room, Hidachi's eyes inadvertently widened to the size of baseballs. "Sir?!" He said in greater surprise than he meant for, and quickly straightened up as stiff as a board. "What a... Pleasant surprise, General, I didn't know you would have been around here today, or else I'd have been back by now." Hidachi continued before giving a quick and respectful bow. He felt a nervous lump set in his throat as he felt Hashimoto's eyes still on him. Why the hell was he here?!
Remembering the General's question, Hidachi quickly stammered, "I-I'm fine, sir, thank you. Just a little banged up, but I've been through worse." Hidachi rested on one of his crutches to take some of the pressure off his wounded ankle, and gazed upon Hashimoto in subtle confusion. "Sir, if I may, what are doing in my room?" He asked.
Borneo, Indonesia
With their sensitive hearing, the birds were the first to notice the disturbance. The sudden cessation of their usual territorial and contact calls, replaced by tense alarms as they fled the understory and posted high in the treetops where they had a clear field of view, alerted the rest of the rainforest's inhabitants. Insects stopped buzzing, frogs stopped croaking, monkeys stopped chattering. Deer and pigs abandoned their foraging and slipped into cover. The local dominant male orangutan, confident in his size and the safety afforded by being nearly a hundred feet up in a tree, took advantage of the silence to let rip a few more of his booming 'long calls' while all of his neighbors could clearly hear them... but he, too, soon gave in to quiet, nervous watchfulness.
A deathly hush gripped the jungle.
Something wasn't right.
It was a cracking, crunching, rumbling sound, faint but rising... as though the earth itself were being crushed and shifted around... Had any of the animals in this flat tract of lowland forest ever heard a rockslide, they might have identified this noise as similar. As it was, the subterranean thunder was a totally alien phenomenon, and none had the foggiest clue what it meant, beyond mystery, which in turn could mean danger.
A few minutes in to the silent vigil, a new sound became audible: the swishing of branches, and the creaking of massive trunks, as a cluster of large trees began to shift and sway. It was a baffling sight and sound; only a mighty wind could make those towering plants move, and yet the hot, humid air, full of the perfume of tropical flowers and the odor of rotting leaves, was still. Having had enough of this strangeness, the birds began to scatter, taking to the air and abandoning their territories as the sound and vibration rose to a crescendo-
CRRR-UNCH!
With explosive volume, a massive tree trunk snapped in two, the upper half plummeting into the surrounding vegetation. Other trees, impossibly, seemed to tear themselves loose from the ground, literally rising into the air, roots erupting dramatically from the soil, as the earth rose up beneath them.
A small mountain formed in the middle of the rainforest, trees falling off the sides or swaying precariously atop the mound... and then the whole thing moved.
Slowly but violently, the mountain shook itself, soil, rock, and vegetation cascading away, clouds of dust billowing for hundreds of yards in all directions. Everything was shrouded in dull, brown darkness.
Seconds of obscured chaos passed. The animals who could fled the area, stumbling blindly through the storm. Others simply cowered or, in cases such as the orangutan, clung to their trees for dear life. Finally, gradually, the dust settled, the vibration and thunder of the avalanche tapered off, and silence reigned again. Mostly.
His terror subsiding a bit, the hulking, four-hundred-pound 'man of the forest' slackened his death grip on the tree trunk, releasing one hand to brush some of the itchy coating of dust and soil away from his shaggy orange pelt... and then froze again. There was still a sound. A rushing, whooshing sort of sound like... breathing... but far, far too loud... curiosity battled with fear, and won. The ape rubbed at his dirt-caked eyes, allowing them to crack open... and immediately wished he hadn't.
Another eye was looking back at him. An eye larger than his entire body.
With a high whoop of sheer horror, the orangutan whirled around and clambered away to the next branch, scrambling off through what remained of the canopy.
On the ground below, a shell-shocked herd of elephants tried to get their bearings. They milled confusedly in the settling dust, trumpeting and rumbling to one another, the adults trying to ensure that all of their calves were accounted for and surrounded for protection from... whatever was going on.
Abruptly, they were interrupted as a massive thing dropped down from above, brown and scaly, knocking over surrounding trees and making the earth quake as it slammed down. Rage taking hold now that there was a visible enemy, the old matriarch let out an echoing roar. Flailing her trunk and flaring her ears, the three-ton beast, her thick hide bearing the scars left by all the tigers, crocodiles, and even humans who had ever failed to bring her down, charged furiously forward, slamming her immense forehead into the attacker with all her weight and power behind her-
And bounced off.
She staggered woozily backward, shaking her aching head in confusion. It was a rare tree that could've withstood that assault, so what... was...
She eyed the thing warily, taking in the details for the first time. Realizing that it was a foot. The leg it was attached to disappeared into the canopy, and as she looked up, she saw that its owner blotted out the sun overhead.
Like the orangutan before her, the pachyderm turned and bolted, ushering her herd before her, and they stampeded noisily away into the undergrowth.
They weren't the largest animals in this jungle anymore.
...........................................................................
The ancient beast responsible for all this chaos blinked blearily in the bright sunlight, shaking his head again to clear away some lingering dirt and shifting his weight around to loosen his stiff limbs.
He looked around at his surroundings, surprised to find himself immersed in a lush forest that stretched to the horizon in every direction. There hadn't been nearly so much growth around earlier that day; the local herbivores (himself foremost among them) had kept this area much more trimmed and open than this. He sniffed the air, hoping for a clue, but only got a nosefull of the odor of unfamiliar vegetation.
And furthermore... how had he wound up buried underground? That had never happened before. He had no reason to dig a burrow, unlike some smaller dinosaurs. He and his herd roamed free on the surface, grazing content in the knowledge that no predator would ever dream of attacking them while he loomed watchfully overhead.
His herd. Where were they? He turned confusedly on the spot, glaring carefully around for the telltale shaking that would reveal the presence of other Angilasaurs beneath the canopy... ah-ha! Noticing a patch of swaying branches, he thundered over to the spot, looked down and grunted a greeting-
Oh. The creatures below the treetops were not his herd. Not even close to his kind, actually; he'd never seen anything like these leathery, gray animals, with their floppy ears and bizarre tails growing from their faces. They squealed fearfully at the sight of him, bolting away at top speed. He didn't follow them.
Dismayed, he scanned the area once more, but there was no sign of a fellow Angilasaur, nor any other beast he knew, for miles around. The animal scents in his nostrils were as strange as the plants. Tilting his head back, he opened his long, nearly crocodilian jaws, and let out a honking contact roar that echoed across half the island. Distant birds took flight at the sound, but no familiar calls greeted his ears.
What a strange place. How had he ened up here? He'd never once been out of sight of his herd before, so why had they left him now? Nothing made sense. But his goal was clear: the herd was everything. They were his safety, his companionship, his entire world. He had to track them down.
His stomach let out a loud, pointed growl. Okay... he'd track the herd down after breakfast. With an uncomfortable snort, he lowered his head and ripped a tree from the ground, crunching experimentally on it. Not a type he'd tried before, but not bad. And so the prehistoric giant known as Anguirus set off, slowly working his way north, grazing and following the scent of a nearby river... hoping all the while to locate any sign of the world he'd known in a bygone age.
Hashimoto almost seemed to chuckle at Hidachi's question.
"I'm in for it now.." the captain thought to himself.
"Britannia," the general spoke. "You're one of our more professional pilots here at the JSDF; it's why you were put in command of the Atragon. However, there is a lot more to our capabilities than you, or more than a select handful of other individuals, know of. So much so that those capabilities deeply violate any sort of military treaty that Japan has signed with the States, or any other part of the world. Our research teams only got clearance to openly produce some sort of super-vessel in the wake of Godzilla's first attack in this country after lobbying in the United Nations. However, we used that as a springboard to begin taking our research further. Of course, it is primarily meant to ward off monster threats, but if just one of our maser cannons were deployed onto the conventional battlefield, the carnage it could create would be fierce, and I believe you know it."
The way Hashimoto was talking almost seemed to take the pressure off of this meeting, if digressing to military jargon while doing so. Hidachi knew of the man's deeply nationalistic views, which made this conversation almost a bit amusing.
"So what are you getting at?" Hidachi asked cautiously.
"To put it short.. The Atragon was becoming old news, irrelevant. While its structural compromising wasn't quite a desirable result, its decommissioning was inevitable; as its successor craft is near completion, and almost ready for its first test runs with you as its helm upon your recovery. It's name.. Is Goten." Hashimoto stated.
Back at the Okinawa base, MechaGodzilla was undergoing an impromptu "upgrade" of sorts. The mechanical arms that constructed the machine now where preforming a different purpose; they had all been retrofitted with large, needle like structures connected to vials of red and black fluid. The arms hovered just above the robot's Space Titanium surface and squirted the strange fluid onto the metal. Another, smaller set of arms equipped with smaller needles began to rapidly poke and prod the fluid which began to foam and bubble. Within moments, a fleshy substance began to form on the robot's exterior and expanded rapidly as the arms moved further down the body, starting from the head. The small needles began to move in a crawling, spider-like motion as though they where weaving a web.
Soon the fleshy mass covered most of the robot's upper body, it's texture began to materialize in a very familiar wrinkly, scarred form. An even more familiar set of dorsal plates began to form on the robot's back, covering the square-ish ones already present on the machine. Within a mere half-hour, the entire robot was covered in the wrinkly flesh and almost flawlessly looked like....Godzilla?? Indeed, it appears that the robot was covered in some sort of artificial flesh coating to make it resemble the King of the Monsters, however the disguise was not flawless. Probably the most notable flaw was the eerie grin the flesh-suit possessed, which gave it a chilling appearance. This was further bolstered by the unblinking, forward facing eyes that where permenantly bloodshot as if in some berserker rage.
Kuronuma witnessed this whole process from start to finish, sitting in his silver lounging chair. He took a drag from his cigar and exhaled a cloud of smoke, grinning in satisfaction.
"Exellent. With this new disguise, MechaGodzilla will be able fool even the real Godzilla into believing it's another of it's kind, allowing us to use the element of surprise. We can also use it to lure any of his allies into a sense of safety before killing them as well. The humans and monsters, being the lower forms of life they are, will be none the wiser!"
Kuronuma said smugly. His gloating was cut short by one of his underlings calling out to him while approaching from behind. Kuronuma scowled before slowly turning around in his chair before answering his underling with an irritated tone.
"What."
Kuronuma said. The underling stiffened his body up like a board upon hearing his leader's displeasure with this interruption.
"Agent Yanegawa has compiled a file of high-value targets at G-Force and the JSDF who may prove to be problematic to our schemes. Additionally he has uncovered data regarding new development of energy weapon technology the humans call "masers" as well as a new warship"
Kuronuma contemplated this new information before issuing his response.
"Transfer the data to my personal terminal, I will review it and issue orders from there"
Kuronuma ordered. His underling saluted and hurried off to fulfill his leader's wishes. Kuronuma sighed and got up from his lounging chair and walked to a horizontal sliding door on the other end of the control room. The doors opened immediately and Kuronuma entered his personal quarters. The room was the same silver as the others, but sported less terminals and more personalized things throughout. A star map sat in the center of the room, displaying a projection of his kind's home star-system. In the middle of it was the accursed black hole which devoured all in it's path. The black hole had already partially devoured his home world's moon and now threatened the planet itself. This projection was a stark reminder of his mission here, and that the very survival of his species depended on the conquest of Earth.
Kuronuma sat at an oval-shaped metal desk upon which sat a square terminal linked to numerous cables that ran through the ceiling. Kuronuma's presence made the terminal's screen flash to life in a neon green. Alien symbols danced across the screen as Yanegawa's report finished downloading. Kuronuma read the entry with great interest, particularly the entry about the "Goten", which appeared to be a replacement for the JSDF's existing Atragon. Kuronuma was already aware of the Atragon from his other spies, and he found the vessel to be laughable. It was nothing but a mere child's toy compared to their superior technology, with Mechagodzilla being a shining example. Supposedly the pinnacle of Earth's technology, felled in a single battle with the very thing it was designed to fight.
Kuronuma chuckled to himself at the thought of MechaGodzilla obliterating the Goten and crippling the human's morale and will to fight. However, what if they could remove the Goten from the equation before it could even be deployed? Indeed, it would be one less obstacle to stand in the way of their plans. It was at this moment Kuronuma decided what Agent Yanegawa's next course of action would be. Kuronuma took off his black leather gloves and began to type on the screen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile in his office at G-Force headquarters, Yanegawa anticipated the orders from Kuronuma. As if on cue, his master's orders popped on screen through the device he was issued with before departing on his mission.
"Investigate threat "Goten". Infiltrate and sabotage Goten. Prevent deployment"
The orders read simply. Yanegawa reached over to the phone on his desk and used the dial pad to call General Hashimoto's office directly, but to his chagrin, only his secretary answered.
"This is Security Advisor Yanegawa at G-Force Headquarters, I need to speak to General Hashimoto immediately regarding a classified project
Yanegawa asked, trying to sound as non-monotone and professional as possible.
"I'm sorry Mr. Yanegawa, but the General is visiting the Atragon's crew in the ER wing. I can transfer your call if you'd like"
The secretary replied politely.
"Yes please, it's urgent that I speak with him."
Yanegawa replied. The call went on hold as the secretary transferred the call to the ER wing. Yanegawa patiently waited through the insufferable music that played on the phone as the call was being transferred. In the ER wing of the JSDF building, a nurse nervously skipped into the room and bowed with respect as Hashimoto and Hidachi where conversing.
"General? I'm sorry to interrupt, but you have an urgent call from a Mr. Yanegawa? He is the new security adviser. He said it was very important!"
The nurse said as she waved the phone in her hand.
"Goten?" Hidachi parroted curiously. The news of the Atragon being decommissioned was honestly, bittersweet for the captain. It didn't seem all that long ago when it was the top weapon of the JSDF, revered by everyone there, using the latest and greatest technologies, and just being an all-around incredible piece of machinery. So, for it to now be considered old news...
Hidachi let out an audible sigh, "Sir..." He spoke as he went to sit at the edge of his bed, "I would be honored to command this, 'Goten', upon its first maiden voyage. It's just... Surprising, that the Atragon is being retired so soon; I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't bonded with that ship." Hidachi said. Soon though, he straightened back up and looked at Hashimoto with newfound determination, "Just as long as my original crew remains, and we kill Godzilla, well... I guess I'll just have to reacquaint myself. I-"
Before Hidachi could finish, a nurse came rushing into the room and waving a phone in her hand, stating something about a new security adviser? That was odd, as their most recent one hadn't been here for longer than 4 years. For the JSDF to apparently just up and acquire a new one so soon... In any case, it sounded important, so Hidachi turned back to the General and gave him a single nod. "We can finish this conversation later, if you would like, sir. I shouldn't be going anywhere for another few hours anyhow."
Hashimoto looked back at the captain; it was evident he was thinking the same thing that Hidachi was in regards to no new security hires for quite a while.
"Give me a moment, I won't be going anywhere," the general told Hidachi with a stern look.
Taking the phone from his secretary, he gave her a botched 'thanks' before raising the phone to his ear.
"Who is this?" Hashimoto said with a low, gruff tone.
