They plaster this cool looking chrome trooper all over the marketing for Force Awakens, go to all the trouble of casting Brienne of Tarth herself to play the role, and get us all excited to see this new break out character....

And then she amounts to absolutely nothing in the film. I don't know whose fault that is exactly, but I feel like that type of stuff is easily avoidable. Just don't promise stuff you know isn't significant to the film. It isn't that hard.
Please stop the Star Wars comparisons :(((
Please I’m begging everyone

But still, at least Mechagodzilla played a big role in the movie, and is a critical plot point. It’s not like they hyped up MG, and nothing happened.

There were more changes to Mechagodzilla in the 2nd film then there was to Gino in 98.

Wings are kinda wimpy (like Keizer Ghidorah) but I can dig it for the most part. I like the glowing effect.

Man I really do not like the face of this new ghidorah.
"Japan's filmmakers are really starting to perform a dick-waving contest as to who can make the weirdest and most untraditional Godzilla. First Anno turns him into the beef-jerky version of Hedorah and now Gen Urobuchi turns the character into his own incesteous lovechild with Biollante. I bet that next, we will have Godzilla get tuned into some sort of rogue A.I." - LegendZilla

Am I reading this right and that paper is saying "20 kilometers"?
In a post-Shin Godzilla world, the kaiju genre should, more than ever before, be held to standards of quality that are more than just "big monster go rawr". Don't act surprised when you get trash movies when your core audience asks for nothing but the bare minimum.

Yes. Yes you are. Ghidorah is the largest monster in the series.

I mean, it's supposed to be a world destroying kaiju
The size should definetely give that vibe

You read Monsterverse King Ghidorah's profile on the MonarchSciences site? It's not much bigger than Heisei Ghidorah but it's still capable of destroying the world because of how it manipulates the forces of nature.

Not that Heisei Ghidorah was small mind you...

Heisei also seems to have longer necks. That would give LPGhids significantly more body mass.

This Ghidorah is meant to be a Cthulu like God from another universe, it being gigantic like that works fine for what they are going for besides its a Planet Eater, not a planet destroyer. You gotta be pretty big to eat planet

My my Ghidorah, you've changed

I think it's an appropriate size, I think having Ghidorah be far larger than Godzilla works better than just having them both be the same large size, which would make it just any other Godzilla vs Ghidorah battle.

The sad thing is, if I describe the ideas and plot elements of the anime trilogy, it actually sounds awesome?

Godzilla rules over an Earth without extensive human involvement for 20,000 years? Awesome

An automated mechanized city run by Mechagodzilla's corpse and nanometal? Awesome

An evil religious Ghidorah cult? Awesome (seriously, I f'ing love that idea)

So many great ideas, but I feel like they've just undercut themselves and caused these things to not live up to their potential.

I speculate that no matter what happens...

People will hate the film & rag on it...even though its not really that bad.

Nah, I think the first two were pretty bad. I have no reason to think this one will be any different.
