I've obviously seen FW, and it was a "send off" film. Of course it was going to have familiar things from the Toho universe.

Toho always revamps Mechagodzilla. Surely, Kiryu will always be merchandised, but they won't ever use Kiryu for another major film. That's just the way it goes. Who knows if we can ever expect new Godzilla films from Toho anyway.

The first two were beam spamming tanks...
Seems Kiryu isn't very high popularity on the interwebz... a lot of bands and gay vampire anime characters show up if you search Kiryu. Not a lot of avatars or sigs I can use. Actually, there are only the TK avatars I found...
well Toho usually revamps MG by making him thinner and faster, so.... I don't see how much thinner and faster you can get than Kiryu...now if he could only learn to take a punch...

I don't understand why the Orga topic has pages and pages of actul discussion and here, we can't last two pages without Hedorah ruining it and Goji asking stupid questions.

Kiryu was cool and I like him a lot. He is not coming back and Toho will make a 4th MG in the future if they end up making more movies in the future.

Kiryu is cool and all with all his weapons but like others he is my least favorite Mechagodzilla. I prefer the original Mechagodzilla instead.
