Aliens Colonial Marines

Postby Hellspawn28 » Thu Dec 09, 2010 9:01 pm

Since no made a thread for AMC yet, I thought why not. It looks like the latest GameInformer give us a update for the game.

"Colonial Marines is still on. We've been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we'll be able to tell you a lot about that in the next couple months. It won't be November 11th (as previously reported). We haven't announced a date yet. This was kind of a pickup for us, with Activision acquiring Vivendi and us having the Aliens license. With the state of code available to us with Aliens Vs. Predator from Rebellion, that kind of forced us and allowed us to slightly alter our Aliens road-map and strategy. It made sense to release that first

When was that comment made HS?

Oh and this is easily my most anticipated game of 2011 assuming it makes it out.

I believe its from the latest issue from GameInformer? This game got push back away too many times, it was plan to be released in 2009 until AVP was getting made and was put on hold since then.

There was a little blurb about A:CM in the latest issue of OXM (Official Xbox Magazine)

Ironically well not ironically it was on a page for Duke Nukem Forever. Tonight when I get out of work I'll post the exact quote.

Maybe on a mission with an ally the game over screen has one of your buddies scream that when you die around them.

As promised the A:CM Blurb from OXM

This was an interview question with Randy Pitchford of Gearboax

OXM: You've Worked on Halo, and now Duke. Any other big names on your bucket list?

Randy: Hey! You didn't mention Half Life! We created all of the Half Life exapansions and console versions, remember? More seriously, one thing that's already been annouced that we haven't talked a lot about is our Aliens game with Sega. We're really committed to making sure it's the kind of game we always hoped would be made with respect to the films. You know... Halo, Duke Nukem and Half Life borrowed a lot of influences frome Aliens. From Half Life's head crabs, to the alien life-cycle in Duke Nukem, to the drop ships and space marines in Halo, Aliens has had tremodous impact and influence on game makers, including me.

Not a lot of info but enough.

Thanks a lot for the update Hellspawn, really. I've avoided the A:CM threads over at AvPgalaxy because it's just kind of depressing most of the time thanks to the lack of updates, and many very frustrated fans venting on a daily basis -_-

Ikarop on AVPG that Sega had meetings about ACM a few times already this year. This is what Sega commented on the meetings:

I can confirm the teams were meeting to discuss the ACM project. The teams at both Sega and Gearbox meet often, discussion of the title during production is a regularity. (...)

(...) More solid news of the game is coming later in the year, rather than tweets from devs and such.

I hope for a release date at E3, I think Q1 2012 is likely.

I hope this game actually has the quality of characters Aliens had. Great gameplay is certainly dandy, but to see the characters you basically survive the game through with kind of fall apart at the seems as they turn completely paranoid and hopeless like the actual marines did would be incredible.

You guys may orgasm over this but,
Sega and developer Gearbox Software have announced that the long-delayed Aliens: Colonial Marines is finally coming in 2012.

The PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 title will appear on shelves sometime in the spring of 2012. Of course, no game is immune to being delayed multiple times, but the fact that both companies are confident enough about the timeframe to put out a press release about it – and that it's relatively far away – hopefully means that this particular release window is doable.

The game features drop in/out co-op play, and hopes to replicate the frantic, claustrophobic, and eerie vibe of the Aliens film.

There you go.
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

Well that works. I'm actually glad it's not being rushed out in time for the holidays. Glad to finally hear some confirmation. I think we were all getting a little worried for a minute there.

2012 seems like a great year for the Alien series with a possible new other game coming out, a new DS game, and Prometheus (If it really is a Alien film).
