Spacegodzilla discussion

Post by Breakdown »

Godzilla's 2nd to last foe. What are your thoughts on him? Good? Bad? Meh? I like his design and his concept, but thats about it. He isnt as powerful of a foe as people say he was. He has great potential, but imo he had a poor showing.

I never really liked Spacegodzilla and never plan to.
His whole origin is ridiculous even for a Godzilla movie. Black hole then white hole? Please.
The design is also an issue i have. His face looks hideous and his crystal shoulder spikes look silly.
He's essentially a ripoff of Super Godzilla. Seriously, they took Super Godzilla, repainted him, and gave him crystal spikes.
He was a completely cruel evil creature, and arguebly the smartest of Godzilla's oppenets, so he get's credit for that.
But overall, i'd say Spacegodzilla: Bad.

Great design, great concept. The suit was too stiff but it looked awesome except for some occasion the crystaline objects looking too much like resin or vinyl. A CG rendition would be too awesome.

Ah...Spacegodzilla

Where to begin o.o

Well, he is in essence a great concept for a villain BUT in the movie he was horrible at showing it. I believe he could have looked a bit cooler as well but he does not look bad.

As a foe...One of if not THEE worst villain i have seen Godzilla fight :/ His corona rays didn't strike me as all powerful as some claimed and it they didn't do a lot of damage to baby godzilla and they sure as heck did not live up to expectations. He also seemed extremely weak in the fact that he needed crystals to power himself. He did not seem to hurt that one mech ( who's name escapes me sadly ) that badly as the pilot got it up and running by yelling and smacking some buttons. This mighty monster couldn't hurt a baby, cant keep a weak mech down, and he seemed to have bad aim. I have heard fans claim it was him being sadistic but then; Why would he screw around when Big G is right around the corner? More importantly why would he still hit the baby if he was trying to miss and be sadistic? It makes no sense to me. If i recall correctly, He was sending these missile crystal things at godzilla and godzilla just went right through that like a tank.

His durability didn't seem all that impressive either as his crystals were blown off in what seemed like an easy fashion by MOGUERA. I personally find this to be one of the more failed enemies just because he didn't strike me as well you know...." Awesome " or " Good " or " just above the minimum " XD

All in all, I have to say "Bad" on this verdict. He couldn't kill a baby if he tried and he got weakened by something also weak.
~ i don't have to outrun the bear...I just have to outrun you guys

The movie is not really that bad as people say it is, but it's definitely the worst of Heisei. As for the monster itself, Space Godzilla is really stupid. My friends and I have this ongoing joke about Space Godzilla saying how he's the deviantart monster of the Godzilla series, with random crystal spikes, lol telekinesis, and a "dark" theme going for him.

It's on par with Sonic The Hedgehog recolors.

He was once a film concept that was shit out as a video-game character, that was then re-eaten to form Spacegodzilla. He's like Nuclear Man from Superman IV.

Yep. I'd call this pretty accurate.

The design isn't bad, but the suit was too bulky. The monster barely moved from his spot during the entire fight. Spacegodzilla's beams were average for a Hesei era monster, but I did like the crystal missiles. They weren't powerful, but they were interestign to watch on film.

I wonder how a showa version of SpaceGodzilla would have looked like.

Having played SUPER GODZILLA sometime in 93', I was not impressed when the first photos of SpaceGodzilla were released. The first thing I thought was "So..they just renamed Super Godzilla and decided to make him Godzilla's opponent?" *yawn*. It didn't help that when I finally saw the film about a year later, I was extremely underwhelmed by it.

Like Legion said, he's cool in concept, but was executed horribly.

I get what he means. Unlike a lot of other villain in the series, who are just there to be villains, SpaceGodzilla has this wicked, I'm-gonna-kill-all-your-children-and-pets fell to him. It's one of the apects of his move that I enjoy most.

So yeah, cool baddie with interesting powers, but in a bad movie.

I think he's a pretty boring monster. As far a "lesser" Kaiju go; Megaguirus, Battra, and even Orga are more compelling. Though at least he wasn't portrayed through the use of Bandai toys...

The only personality he has is a pedo. He can't have kidnapped Little Goji for the sake of it, could he?

Spacegodzilla is probably my favorite Kaiju that was created in the Heisei series. His beam is probably the coolest out of all beams from the 90's and he's just so darn evil! I love him
