It's just this apparent assumption some people have that, if you don't want him as a mindless peon of kitten molesting evil destruction, you want him to fly around and bump-fists with Jet Jaguar handing out ice cream to orphaned nuns.

Godzilla is as much a character as the humans. He should have his own history, personality, motivations, and goals and should act on those and not his written in allegiance to good/evil.

I would hate the movie if they don't put at least one battle between Godzilla and the Military.

I think Godzilla should be done karate and garage. In fact, he had been karate uniform, black belt, and boxing gloves.

Why not an intelligent animal? Something that acts out in rage/annoyance but is smart enough to not be fooled by "giant pile of fish hur dur".

I don't think Godzilla's behavior should be neither animalistic nor human. They should treat him as he is...A MONSTER! Godzilla is not an animal, he's a monster! King Kong is an animal. The way I kinda see it, Godzilla is not only a metaphor for nuclear devastation but a representation for human nature, the dark side of human nature, the one that no one tries to touch. The monster inside us. And that's why IMO Godzilla in the movies seems more monstrous than animal

Not to be a douche, but I hate when people try to sound deep by saying stuff like this. It's so corny, and quite frankly it's laughable. Saying he represents "the dark side of human nature" or "the monster inside us" is a little cliched. Oh, and I'm pretty sure Godzilla (as depicted in Gojira) IS essentially just a metaphor for nuclear devastation.

I like the idea of a higher-functioning, humanlike Godzilla, but I don't want him seeming too much like us (or, you, anyway) that the audience is not frightened (because I want this film to be just a little bit frightening).
