The Mysterians Restored RKO Dub
Using the Blu-ray HD masters, I managed to restore the original RKO dub of The Mysterians that premiered in the 1950's. The RKO dub featured many edits towards the middle and the end of the film, including various scenes shorten and completely removed or altered special effects shots. The original title cards of the dub are presented on a blue background but the rest of the restoration is the HD Blu-ray master.

The Mysterians reconstruction with the RKO dub looked and sounded great. Thanks for putting it together!

One thing I would suggest is stretching the title cards back out to their full width. The title cards were actually squeezed from Tohoscope down to the TV aspect ratio, so stretching them back out would allow you to have Tohoscope ratio credits, without those blue boxes around them.

I'm pretty sure the titles are cropped to 4:3, not squeezed. It's hard to tell because I haven't been able to rewatch the Japanese version to compare, but it looks like that's what they did.GodzillaFanatic2001 wrote:One thing I would suggest is stretching the title cards back out to their full width. I pretty sure it's squeezed to full frame. I'm basing that off the space station in the background at the beginning. It looks rather distorted at least to me.

Quick update: goji1986 has offer to restore the original titles in HD for me. Once he's done, I'll send out links for the updated version.
