Monster Toy Spotlight #36: Biollante

Post by Tyrant_Lizard_King »

After some consideration I decided on the genetic abomination of a rose, a woman, and Godzilla himself, the giant mutant rose/venus fly trap monster Biollante. Whether she's a clone or even Godzilla's sister as some like to call her, Biollante is one of the most memorable kaiju to come from the post Showa era films. This topic will of course cover both the final and rose forms as there are only a small minuscule sample of figures based on her "rose form".

I love Biollante. Godzilla vs Biollante was the first Goji movie I watched, so...Lots of nostalgia for this kaiju.

I have this set; here's a rough scan I did of the box awhile back.
Image

In truth, I didn't even buy it for the Rose Biollante, which has become the coveted piece- I got it for the closed mouth Godzilla! Of course, they've both grown on me since. The battle box sets were some of the best and it was the first time in a long time that Bandai was creating figures of monsters they'd never touched, despite them being candy toy sized. Rose Biollante, Godzilla 89 (and 98), the Showa Ghidorah, even Manda 2004 got a set.

Here is another look at the Marmit Monster Heaven second version Adult Biollante ... released in July 2009. Think I have one more for sale = $185.

And the ever popular Marmit first release of the flower form Rose Biollante from 2006 - a real beauty!

I'm probably one of the few collectors out there that prefers the Marmit MH Giant Biollante, but the smaller MH Biollante has grown on me over the years. Here's a photo with all of my Marmit Biollante figures together:

I never realized that I had so many Biollante figures. Here are some more:
