I mean, he wrote the lyrics for Komm Susser Todd from Eva and they have a very similar tone to those found there, so unless it was stated somewhere that he didn't, he very well might've.

No, it's just I heard he was depressed and almost killed himself and some of that could be seen in the Evangelion anime. So the lyrics here kind of remind me of that. I heard persecution of masses tho, ghe beginning was great but then it got a little bit joyful.

As far as I'm aware he's never tried to kill himself, but Anno has been diagnosed with and suffering from clinical depression for at least 20 years. It had subsided a bit for a while, but he relapsed while making the recent Rebuild of Evangelion films - if I recall, I think he said recently that Godzilla basically saved his life and has helped him get through his latest battle with it.

What's marketing like over there? I have a close friend in Tokyo at the moment and she said the only piece of advertisement she has noticed so far is a small poster in the subway. She has been through the largest malls to find merchandise for me and it was a struggle finding anything.

They're doing marketing. I've seen the posters in the surface trains and subways, not a ton, but yes, I've seen them. And that's not just in Tokyo. I've been in Osaka, Sapporo, Kyoto, and Nagoya. They have tons of stuff at the book stores and places where anime, manga and toys are sold.

Hmm. Interesting. She told me she spent hours in Akihabara yesterday and only stumbled upon a small collection of stuff. Much of it was old. She might run by the Eva Store if she has time.

Is it me, or is a lot of the merchandise showing up in stores you wouldn't expect? I don't know Japan culture, but shops I see having the lottery and all that, don't seem like places I'd expect to find those things.
