Frankenstein Conquers The World German DVD

I think I read here once that a German DVD was released and contained the complete aip cut but dubbed in German. Does anyone know where to find this?

Look out for this DVD. The german title is "Frankenstein der Schrecken mit dem Affengesicht". Pretty awesome DVD btw, probably the best release of FCTW worldwide.

Thanks, I searched Amazon.de but could not find it. Now assuming the German theatrical version is the entire aip video I should be able to just synch in the english audio from say an old bootleg vhs?

Where do you have your original information from, that the AIP cut is on the german release anyway? Unfortunately I don't know too much about the specific differences between the cuts, so I can't tell if the AIP cut is on it. But since it's the only release of FCTW in Germany, it has to be this one (if your information is correct). If you could give me some pointers for what I should look for (like length etc.), I can check it and tell you if it indeed is the AIP cut.
However, since all german theatrical versions of japanese monster movies during that era were based on the american cuts, there's a very high chance, that it's the correct one.

It does contain the scenes that were added to the AIP version since it used that version as it's source (as Plasmo just noted) Obviously the credits, and title screen are in German but otherwise it's the same. The sad part is that Media Blasters obviously were not able to find a good enough source to use, yet the distributors of the German release were more lucky (or diligent) in their search.

Someone could combine the English credits from the MB disk with the German video track as to recreate the AIP version. The only problem would be that the credits aren't in the proper aspect ratio.

I was thinking of adding in the English credits as well, but I had forgotten that the aspect ratio was incorrect. Maybe I can play around with that in a video editing program or something.

The aspect ratio is incorrect, but it isn't cropped. The image is just kind of squeezed a la MONSTER ZERO's credits in Classic Media's mediocre presentation of its US version.

I don't know if this would make a difference when it comes to those who are savvy in editing, but wouldn't the German release be in PAL format? Meaning, as-is, I'm guessing it wouldn't sync with the English audio.

You could try slowing it down by 4% or converting the framerate from 25 fps to 23.976 fps.

If anybody wants me to do a project like this, I wouldn't mind. It sounds like fun. I could also attempt a bilingual version with most of Nick's lines restored.

Can I file this as a request? :P It would be much appreciated! My video editing skills are pretty limited, but I still might try this.

^I'm actually pretty serious about it now. It won't be perfect, but I can assure you the entirety will be in OAR and no sound will be out of sync or missing. Expect it on the usual tracker in a couple weeks...

If you finish it could you pm with a rapidshare link or something? I'm not sure I can get back on cinemageddon. I doubt my account is still active and with my new internet connection I can't get decent upload speeds to maintain a good share ratio.
