Monster Toy Spotlight #30: Gyaos (Heisei)

Postby ゴジマン » Sat Jul 09, 2016 10:41 am

Well I felt like it was time to do a spotlight over my favorite childhood nightmare, the Gyaos. The only figure I have is a Hyper Gyaos since I still haven't bothered to buy any others, but I'm very interested to see what you guys have.

I don't have any photos, but I had the Trendmasters Gyaos for awhile which looked like a weird cross between the 95 and 99 versions, and came with a purple beam that always jammed in its jaws. I also have an old Bandai Gyaos in a bin somewhere, but it's the Showa one.

My collection is severely lacking when it comes to Gamera (if I ever get back into collecting full time, perhaps these are gaps I will try to fill, as I've fulfilled most of wish/bucket list for my Godzilla-related collection). So I'll just post a few online reviews from time to time. Below is an online review of the classic Bandai Super Gyaos:

When we did this spotlight at CT, i was surprised how many Gyaos figures i had. Since then i've added some Showa Gyaos, but no new Heisei Gyaos in the past 3 years

This beauty was a Sega crane toy, sculpted by X-Plus iirc

My Gamera collection is pretty lacking, too. I only just added this guy (girl?) within the last month or so:

It is always fun to look at SD chibi-style toys, here we have the rare Yutaka 30th Anniversary boxed set with Gamera and Gyaos from 1995.

^ How tall are those? Do they scale with the chibi figures from Fujimoto?

An online review of the Revoltech Gyaos :

Alright, the weekend is upon us. I've been pming people the last few weeks regarding the spotlights in order to get some new people to do them. For this week, however, it's simple: Whoever posts first gets Monster Spotlight #31 :muto: :destoroyah:

Whoever it is that decides they want spotlight #31, here is the masterlist for your reference to see what kaiju have been spotlighted thus far:
