What are they keeping from us?

I created this thread because I believe that Legendary Pictures is further in production than they are making public. I won't say they got as far as to begin filming yet but I would think they had a script and some story boards completed by now along with concept art. Yes I know that they haven't officially announced a writer yet but there isn't enough mainstream attention for this project to have up to the minute updates like Man Of Steel or Dark Knight rises. Godzilla will just happen like Cloverfield with something totally unexpected.

We know that director Gareth Edwards is kept quiet on the subject. LP has more than they're telling us for sure. I won't be surprised to see trailers by next super bawl.

Gareth Edwards worrying about his other movie might be a wee bit of a hurtle.

And no, Godzilla will have a big, loud, obnoxious marketing campaign that shows off the monster in full glory.

Lack of new info for months could mean that the studio cares less about the movie. Sorry but it's true.

That could be wrong. From what I know hard work was put into just getting the licensing rights to produce another hollywood Godzilla film. It doesn't make much sense to go through all that and end up losing interest in the project.

Most projects that I seen that no info for a very long time, end up being rush and made on the last min since the studio does not want to lose the rights to it. For example, Fox and Dragon Ball since Fox wanted to do a DB movie for years and they end up making one on the last min. After that, we got DBE and end up being a awful film.

Hopefully it will be great. With a Cloverfield sequel coming within a couple years or less of the LP Godzilla film, it'd a battle of who can do the better monster movie, albeit LP doing so with a Japanese monster and staying faithful to said Japanese monster's heritage.

If the date gets pushed, I'll know they are taking it somewhat seriously.

With only 14-16 months for a summer 2012 release, they sure don't have a lot of time to do Production/Post Production. (hence this project is in the can as far as I'm concerned)

They haven't decided on what it'll be, but there will be one. IMBd has it posted as a 2014 release but idk when we're actually supposed to get it. It might be a prequel, it might be a direct sequel, lots of stuff. They are also undecided on whether or not they'll shoot it in real time again.

You can read a little here if you like, but I don't wanna derail this thread too much.

Don't trust anything from IMDB unless it's from a official source. IMDB will add random place holder dates until a official release date is made since Iron Man 3 was listed down for 2012 at one point.

In my opinion, there is no way this film is released in summer of 2012. Honestly, I hope it is delayed at this point, there simply isn't enough time to do a quality film. Way too much silence on the project for it to be moving along at the pace needed by this time in the production.

I'll agree to this, I'm now hoping for a 2013 release at the earliest.
