Yeah that was back when Ted Turner was on his colorizing binge. He had several classic films colorized. A fact that Joe Dante passingly parodied in Gremlins 2. I believe the colorized version was available on VHS at one time. I'm almost positive somebody on TK recently got a hold of a copy.

Yeah, my friend owns a copy. I'm surprised its not as available as the original version today but some older dvds might include a colorized version. The VHS came with two video cassettes if I remember right. It was widely available at the time.

I'm definitely going to check it out on the 15th. It might be bad, but I'm going in with an open mind. It's not like there a lot of shows like it these days.

I've always wanted a T-Rex with fricking laser beams on their heads. Cool picture.
I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

Then expect something that's fiercer, more cruel, and deadly than anything that's walked the Earth.

I personally enjoyed the 76 remake and adore the 05 remake, and of course the original is a masterpiece.

I've always enjoyed the 76 remake in spite of it's flaws. In fact, it took me years to admit that I actually prefer it to Jackson's film, despite Jackson's film being a technically better movie. I applaud them both for expanding on the relationship between Kong and his captive. The 33 version really is the best though, it's fun, it's economical, and it hits all its marks.

^ One thing I loved about the 1976 version is when they are discussing the Island on the ship. When Jack Prescott talks about people who had landed on Skull Island in the past, that have "pierced the white veil" and mentioning a "huge slouchy humanoid thing". And that line

From the wedding with the creature who touches Heaven, lady, God preserve thee.

With the shot of the crashed Japanese WWII fighter plane from next year's KONG:Skull Island, I would be too surprised that new take on the original Monster King will be recounting the encounters the civilized world had with Skull Island similar to Prescott's spiel early in the 1976 film. Which was kind of creepy to my single digit self when watching it on TV.

One of my favorite scenes too. I also think Kong's entrance, and the score in general, are fantastic.

Has anyone has the pleasure/displeasure of seeing the new Netflix show yet?

Yes, I've watched the first five episodes. The trailer's a pretty accurate representation of the show. It's imaginative but definitely aimed at kids. If you like "King Kong Escapes" you might enjoy it, but I have a feeling a lot of older/more mature fans would probably eviscerate it.
