Re: Favorite Design or Suit
Big fan of the suits from Gojira (1954), Mothra vs Godzilla (1964), Godzilla 1984, Godzilla vs Biollante (1989), GMK (2001), and Godzilla's design from Godzilla 2014.

Absolute favorites are a hard tie between Godzilla 1964, 1974 and 1968-72.

Re: Favorite Design or Suit
I don't really have a favorite. I have a nostalgia for all of them. I guess my favorite would be based off whatever movie I have most recently watched.

Re: Worst Godzilla Designs?
I stumbled across this thread again, and took a look at my last post. 84-goji is actually one of my favorite suits now - but I still think the Heisei era offered the worst designs. Although it's perhaps the most consistent era in designs, after Bio-goji I feel the designs progressed with uglier and more cumbersome results.

Re: Worst Godzilla Designs?
Pretty surprised at the poll results, I guess I don't know what I was expecting. But then, most replies were from about 3 years ago.
While it has some great films, I'd have to go with Showa overall. At worst, I dislike the 1992 and 1993 designs from Heisei (mostly 1992), and the Megaguirus and Against Mechagodzilla looks in Millennium. But in Showa? 1955 (Raids Again), 1966 (Ebirah), 1967 (Son of Godzilla), and 1973 (Megalon), I'm not too terribly fond of. 1967 may be the ugliest suit of all time from the Japanese films; why would you want to mold the look of Godzilla after Minilla??

I'd rather have "Tumor-Zilla". Hell I'd take GINO's design over Son of Godzilla, SOG is the ugliest in my opinion.g2vd wrote:I'll take that one over old Tumor-Zilla up there any day, I mean in truth SOG Godzilla isn't that bad right?Living Corpse wrote:Son of Godzilla. Just....Holy Hell.

I mean, yeah, they were clunky and could barely move their arms, I like the designs of 84-91, but when they're in action, they look stiffGIGAN05 wrote:Even Bio/Ghido Goji?Lain Of The Wired wrote:I picked Heisei, those things look atrocious in action, every one of them

As much I love Bio/GhidoGoji, not gona disagree when it comes to arm movement.
But it's still better then the walking rolls of blubber that came next. At least in my opinion, the clunk on these two looked fairly natrual. Infact I say GhidoGoji is the leanest of the bunch ... And that's sad in the grand scheme of things .

Re: The General Godzilla Suit Discussion Thread
I thought the slow, clunky movement of Heisei was to emphasize size, considering they're twice as tall as the Showa Gojis, and perhaps not as well-adjusted to the size upgrade. Regardless, I think they all look glorious when shot at the right angle, and couldn't be farther from the worst for me.

Re: The General Godzilla Suit Discussion Thread
I think the choice of sacrificing suit flexibility for the sake of extra-extra mass was a mistake. I certainly believe Godzilla should look massive, but the suits can be massive-looking without hindering the suit actor's movement so badly*. Just look at Kinggoji or Sokogeckigoji, for example.
The 90's suits also bother me due to their - sculpt, I guess I'd call it. With Musukogoji, I can at least tell that this Godzilla looks flabby. With the 90's suits, I can't tell if I'm looking at fat rolls or extremely roided-up muscles. It looks unnatural in a way that bother my aesthetic sensibilities, if that makes sense.
*I find it interesting that Kenpachiro Satsuma has said the later suits fit him better and offered more flexibility. It's honestly never looked that way on film to me.
