Monster Toy Spotlight #10 - Megalon

Post by AWMGodzilla62 »

Welcome to Monster Toy Spotlight #10 featuring..... Megalon! Megalon! RISE UP MEGALON!!!

I thought I would appropriately start off the thread with the very first, original Megalon figures by Bullmark in 1973. Pictured is the medium scale version and the stardard size Hawaiian version.
Image

I thought I would add this "previous section" for easy access to older Spotlight threads.

Previous Monster Toy Spotlights

#9 Barugon
#8 Mecha Godzilla (Showa)
#7 Hedorah
#6 GMK Godzilla 2001
#5 Gigan (Showa)
#4 Baragon (Showa)
#3 Miregoji Godzilla 2000
#2 Gorosaurus
#1 King Ghidorah

Marmit Monster Heaven Megalon:

I think some get a bit too hung up on the paint scheme, as sculpt-wise this is one of more accurate, impressive Megalon figures out there imho...

AWM, a very nice example of the Hawaiian Megalon! ! The figure is very hard to find and usually has lots of the red paint oxidized away.

Here is one of my exclusive series, KaijuZoo Marmit Megalon kit build-up from 2010.

Is Ric-boy reissuing it? Or is it being reissued thru Diamond?

Is that Megalon build up kit the same figure as the Marmit Iron Joe figure? I really like the Iron Joe figures, and I think they're on par or better than their Xplus counterparts. Wish this would have become regular line ala their Monster Heaven/Parababy lines.

Here is Fresh Vinyl's review is the fantastic Xplus 25cm figure:

According to Ric-Boy's site, they will be listing online order dates/details at later, but it appears they are limiting to only selling 100 of these sets, so it might be difficult to order before they sell out.

Anyways, here is online review of the Y-MSF Megalon:

Yes, same sculpt. I think Marmit brought in Iron Joe as a third party to build up their Megalon kits.

By the way, anyone know where Kaiju no Mura disappeared to? Loved his King Ghidorah figure photos, but he's been MIA since then...

Those Parababy Megalon figures are awesome, especially the flying figure.

That 2009 Marusan Crystal Megalon is gorgeous KaijuZoo :mechagodzilla: How much was it?

Here is a Xplus 25cm Megalon review from Simon West:

Ok, who would like to the nominee for Monster Spotlight #11 later this weekend? Some possible candidates who have made contributions to past spotlights are Castellan Zilla, SpaceG92, Kaiju no Mura, Mr. X, Leunames, Heartless. ArchdukeSquidlyIII, RandomDeinonychus, Starsteam, GIGAN05, Captain Aktion, UltramanGoji, SJM925, Kaijunator, Tyrant_Lizard_King, . Or if AWMGodzilla62 has someone in mind he would like to nominate for Spotlight #11, then cool. Or if either a past or new poster wants to step up and volunteer, then go for it! It's open to everyone :monsterx:

I have no Megalons to share, but I do plan on nabbing one soon enough.

That being said, do any of you have reccommendations for a Megalon to go with the Marmit MH Gigan or the Gigabrain? A picture of it next to one of those Gigans would also be very much appreciated. So far I've been leaning towards the MH Megalon, but I've also had no luck in finding one.
