I believe the smiley indicates he was joking.

Anyway, here's an article that explains all the changes.

I'm just playing. We all know Godzilla tried to molest Kong, Kong wasn't into it and ran away, and Godzilla was so embarrassed that he disappeared.

Let's get this back on topic. No unneeded personal insults, and all posts relating to it, on both sides, have been removed.

I expect better from all those involved in the future.

Joking aside the differences between the American and Japanese versions that I can point out is that the American version replaces Ifukube's score with stock scores from Universal monster movies, the only one that really works is the Creature from the Black Lagoon one, also there's more human scences in the Japanese version.

It's a work in progress please suggest to me how to improve it

There are vast VAST differences between the American version of KKvG and the original Japanese version.

As mentioned above. There are more human scenes... Though more accurately you might want to say FULLER scenes.

With all that added American Crap gone (and all the added American stuff is exactly that to me... CRAP!).

This movie flows and though Mr. Tako used to be the character I despised the most in ANY Godzilla film (Actually beating out Gengo from GvG - Though not anymore. He is just as stupid in both version)... He was utterly redeemed in the Japanese version. Still goofy mind you. But at least he came off as more of a plausible character.

The Musical score is MUCH better in this film as many will say. It certainly makes for a MUCH better film because of the score Ifukube did!

This is a great movie.
If you are EVER going to buy any film in Japanese... make it this one.

GREAT (Japanese) MOVIE!
Find it!
Buy it!
Watch it!

Though Kong is still hideous and Godzilla still lookes like a big frog at times (To me! HEH!).

The tone of the Japanese film is completely different from the American version, its a comedy.

Oh I didn't see it as that much of a comedy. I mean it had a lot of comedic elements (if that is what you mean by tone). But there was a LOT Of stuff beyond all of that. Especially in the Japanese version - I think the American version makes the Japanese characters look bad cause they carved out all the most normal scenes.

Though I still laugh like an idiot at the Fumiko Sakurai "Osamu's sister" (Mie Hama) during the run from the train and fall in/all over the rocks & river bit. Just hilarious! and I know it isn't suppose to be a funny scene. But it truly cracks me up!

I will say regarding the rumor, I do remember reading on a much older site that an alternate ending was filmed, but never used, involving Godzilla winning, which does sound plausible to me. I even heard once an image of it was in an older book.

Ohhh Bad form!
NEVER... EVER... Believe rumors.
I personally think if there was an image out there... we (Fans) would have had it by now.
I am one who is seriously in doubt from all I have read that there was ever a dual ending. There is just one ending so far as I can tell.

But ask one of the Many Kaiju Scholars that run around here (I am fairly certain they will fast shoot it down).
HECK... I'd bet Arbok knows!

I am not saying it wouldn't be cool... Just highly doubtful.

Besides the ending it has is pretty decent no matter which shore your standing on!

^ According to the link, the image was out. It was an old site though, late 90s era.

I don't find it completely unlikely a different ending was filmed, most of movies made seem to have a lot of cut material in general. The only thing that made me disregard the particular rumor is simply that it hasn't come up again outside of when I bring it up.

The Japanese version was completely different. One difference is that it was good.

Heh. Good one.
I definitely recommend tracking this one down and buying it. If you find it it's probably either Toho's R2 or a bootleg using the R2 as a source, which means the video quality is pretty meh.
Kong still looks like ass, though.

I wonder if it's possible to completely re-engineer the English version. Personally, I found a little amusement with the news segments (but not by much). If they were to completely re-engineer the dub, I hope it has these fixes:
-include the cut scenes
-restore the Japanese score
-re-dub the dialogue (I doubt very much the dialogue from the cut scenes were ever recorded in English)

The extended earthquake scene in the English version is up to fan choice. Personally, I'm so used to seeing the flooding and the earth opening, because that's what I've watched all my life. The review once stated the Japanese version of the earthquake at the end of the Kong/Godzilla fight scene was 'weak.' I've watched the Japanese version, and it didn't at all seem weak to me. But whoever re-engineers the English dub, I really don't have any opinion about the extended earthquake scene included or not. But, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I haven't seen the Japanese version, but I don't have any problems at all with the American version. While the news scenes were mostly dull, the one with the paleontologist and his idiotic theories makes up for the rest. That's one of my favorite parts of the movie. Even the music doesn't bother me. Maybe it's just because I'm so used to the stock American stuff, but I can't really imagine what I've heard of Ifukube's score fitting this movie very well. It seems way too dramatic.

There actually is an international version of the film, which means the Japanese cut did at one point exist entirely dubbed. Whether or not this version is even still around is anyone's guess though. It has never seen a home video release anywhere, and seems to have only played theatrically in the Philippines in the 70's.

If this version was readily available, we'd have the Japanese version, dubbed into English, and there wouldn't be any need for a "fan made" cut.

Well, here's hoping the international version surfaces at some point in our lifetime (stein of root beer in the air).
