I like Shannon, so I'm looking forward to seeing him as Zod.

Though at the same time, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Metallo or Parasite appear as a supporting villain as well. Luthor is a must. If even just to establish his presence, character, and feud with the Man of Steel.

You could say the villain in the 3rd movie was pretty much Bizarro. Brainiac was the original choice for the 3rd film, and the Superman Lives project from the 1990's. They where never used since the studio feel like that they can not be fit into the story.

Better then having Doomsday for the first film.

You are right. I now totally accept this film having a pre-used villain because Brainiac and Bizarro were PLANNED for other films, but weren't used, dating back over 20 years ago.

I don't think it was mention that Zod is the main villain. They could throw much bigger and more evil villain as the main villain like Darkseid. I rather have Darkseid or Doomsday for a sequel.

Looks like they plan the movie for June 14th 2013. It will be seven years since Superman Returns by the time came out. Hard to believe it been half a decade since SMR came out.

I thought they had to make the movie by 2012 in order for them to keep the rights? Oh well, David S. Goyer has not left the project neither.

How is a Warner Bros company going to lose the rights, from another Warner Bros company?

I remember a while ago that it had to deal with a legal battle between Superman co-creators Siegel and Shuster and DC/Warner Bros over the rights.

They had to be in production by 2012, otherwise Jerry Siegel's estate has the legal right to sue them for profits lost.

They are in production, so that's not an issue. Nor are they in danger of losing the rights to the character.

Lets See if the more time they take for the movie, it helps the final product...

I don't see why they push back until June? I guess they where unable to find a good date for it, at least they won't have to rush it out.

Maybe with Goyer leaving the project, the rewrite for the script is taking a little longer the filmmakers hoped and couldn't help but delay it.
