Nintendo's next system might be shown at E3 this year?

If this is for real then it does awesome. I would not be surprise if we see Xbox 720, Nitendo's newest system, and PS4 at E3 2011 since it been almost five years since the Wii and PS3 came out. The Gamecube was released five years after the N64 and since 2011 is the 10th birthday of the original Xbox, we might see a 720 by Q4 2012.

Wii 2 will most likely be an incremental update ala the DS Lite to DSi. My guess is we'll get Wii HD and for existing Wii owners all we'd need is a simple firmware update to unlock the HD capabilities because the Wii does have a GPU which is more powerful than the original Xbox and that supported resolutions of 720p and 1080i.

The reason I think this is because the Zelda Skyward Sword GDC trailer was shown in 720p which is odd considering the system only supports 480p currently. As for Xbox 3 and the PS4 I wouldn't expect those for at least another two-three years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo revealed new hardware at E3 this year. The Wii had a good run, but once Zelda (and probably a handful of other titles I'm forgetting) drops, it doesn't really have anything going for it. I think it's a good time for Nintendo to move on from the Wii, personally.

SNES came out around 1991 and the N64 came out five years later. A new system at E3 seems very likely, and the new Zelda game is the only reason why I'm buying a new one. I sold my Wii back in 2008 to get a PS3 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Firmware updates are those system upgrades so that's how we'd get the update.

Honestly in my opinion the only thing new hardware we'll see is PSP2 and Wii HD. MS has said they're committed to the 360 longer than what they would be to the original Xbox and its only been six years since the 360 launched.

I don't know about a new Wii. That cheesy 3DS just came out with its shitty launch lineup and crappy battery power. I think they'll be hyping that thing up for a while and even though they *might* unveil a new console, it won't be out until NEXT YEAR and then it'll be a WHILE before any good games come out for it.

What makes you think Sony is ready for a new console? Or that the successor to the Wii will even be motion-based? You're assuming a hell of a lot. Microsoft has also said fairly recently that they're still committed to the 360, so I wouldn't expect them to show off any new hardware for a while.
