The change from alien weapon to millitary defense unit was the best change for the character. But i find kiryu slightly better

Why didn't MGII's Diamond armor go from NT-20 to NT-21 with Garuda attached? Shouldn't Garuda's NT-1 armor improve MG's?

MG2 isn't my favorite, either, but the mech has a nice design and some powerful weapons. It's just too stiff in its movements.

Because it doesn't work like that? That's like saying the sunscreen I just applied goes from SPF 30 to SPF 45 when I put my backpack on.

This is my favorite MG incarnation, with the '74 version right behind it. I wish it could've been in GvSG as well, instead of Moguera... But the one thing I don't understand is everyone disliking this one because it has no "personality". It's a robot, okay? Since when do true robots have personalities? This one did rely heavily on beam-spamming, but it the end, MG2 is one of the most interesting and one of Godzilla's deadliest (if not the deadliest) opponents because it outright killed him, albeit temporarily.

your standard robot does not need personality. it needs to accomplish its job efficiently and it does when necessary.

if it was nightrider's KITT, then it could have personality like Kiryu, or if it were the terminator, it could have personality like MG '74-'75. all this talk of robots not having personality lacks context.

My point exactly. But as I said, everyone tends to dislike this one because of a lack of personality.

He was pretty bland and serves his purpose. IMO he was the most effective of the three mechagodzillas at battling Godzilla especially since he actually was able to KILL Godzilla.

Ummm yeah it did. It blew out Godzillas second brain and killed him. Godzilla only came back because Rodan gave him his life force.

so shooting godzilla after they had killed him was because the pilots liked the way the masers resembled rainbows?

Better safe then sorry ;) but seriously Godzilla was killed regardless. This Mechag was the only one that got the job done.

After the brain is destroyed and Godzilla falls he still moves for a bit as Mechag unloads all its weapons on him. After that he stops moving and lays completely still until Rodan revives him. Doesn't even move his eyes or react when rodan falls on top of him. To me he seemed pretty dead the film even says that if they destroy the brain Godzilla won't be able to walk not paralyze him completely to the point when he can't even move.
