With IMAX Yes, with 3D it depends if it's cheap 3D, conversion, or if it's actually top-quality like from what i've read on films like ''Avatar, or Tron: Leacy'' neither of which i saw it theater's but both i heard had great 3D effects.

Tron: Legacy - had a budget of 170$ million an made 400$ million with mixed reviews, it'll struggle if it will make a sequel though there are rumors.

Avatar - 237$ million budget but brought in over $2,782,275,172

Not i'm not comparing one film to another, but Godzilla isn't actually at the high point of his career right now will def not get anywhere near the budget of either of those 2 films.

I say forget the 3D, focus on the story first an then the visual effects an put it in IMAX... Then if the film does well do (if they must ) 3D for the sequel.

Look at it this way, Batman is doing just fine with IMAX an no 3D... an poor usage of 3D can also hurt even a good made film. So unless Legendary goes all out with that then don't bother. a.k.a. ''Clash of the Titans'' is a good example of poor 3D

I personally think that if Joss Whedon was the writer, the movie would be really fantastic

And you brought this topic back because, why?

We already have a writer.

If you want a Godzilla film, then Whedon is a wrong choice. Just because he made a great Avengersmovie, does not mean he would make a good Godzilla movie, because Godzilla isn't a protagonist who talks. And given that he is the centerpiece of the movie, you need a director whose strengths are with Animation, actually. Brad Bird would be a great choice for a Godzilla film, if not the best. Peter Jackson would do better than Spielberg. given the types of effects that would make action scenes most effective, Zachary Snyder would be a great choice. Keep in mind, the former two have directed Giant Monster films before.

Oh go no. I can't even believe he's doing the new Superman film. I was just shocked when that was announced.

Give Snyder a good script and he'll give you diamonds. Make him write a script, he'll give you coal.

Let me tell you something, if you go by what they teach you in film school, Christopher Nolan would get a D and Snyder an A. Snyder knows how to direct and use a camera. Nolan has serious issues with this. He's what they call an "actor's director".

I think enough directors will tell you film school doesn't mean jack shit until you actually make a movie, and from what I can tell Snyder hasn't learned a damn thing.

They won't. The only ones who will tell you that are Tarantino and Rodriguez, they got obscenely lucky when it came to making films. They're also confirmed morons and cokeheads when it comes to anything other than making a movie.

and from what I can tell Snyder hasn't learned a damn thing.

Okay, tell me, what about the technical aspects of Snyder's Direction tells you that he hasn't "learned a damn thing". Do you know much about directing itself? Not writing or dealing with actors, but actual directing? Blocking, Fluidity, Cinematography, Eye-Lines, Staging, Lighting. etc. Snyder is fantastic in all these regards, which is why each of his films have a memorable look. While you may not like his use of slow-mo, that's a failing on your part, not his. It's a trademark of his style, and considering his action heavy films, it's a sensible one. Rather than make things confusing and nonsensical and disorienting like every other action director out there nowadays, he slows it down at the best bits so everyone understands what's happening. And there's a musical fluidity to it all. Yeah, Sucker Punch is trash, but that's because Snyder is a horrible writer and can't make a good story, as a far as a Director though, the man shoots circles around his contemporaries.

I could care less about how a movie looks when the story is complete shit. Snyder's done nothing but adaptations - minus Sucker Punch - and he's managed to destroy them all.

It depends on the film's budget. They can keep it around 100 or 120 million as long if they don't over do the marketing on the film.

In Italy we trust. Give the script to Dardano Sacchetti, the special effects to Giannetto de Rossi and the music to Stelvio Cipriani. Banno could act as creative consultant. Director? Hmm, Bava and Fulci are dead, and Argento has "lost it". That's a hard one.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.
