Like seriously, its doom and gloom at every frickin' step of the way.

How about we wait until they release something like a teaser trailer before we start "giving up on this movie?" =/

And how do you "give up" on a movie thats not even made yet?

Oh, I'm sorry, is it being made too slowly for some of you? What the Hell do you want? For them to rush it just so you could complain that its a rushed, half-assed cash-in? There's just no winning with some of you.

It is pretty sad isn't it? Although its not surprisingly ironic, its still pretty sad.

I think we all can agree on that we want to see this film, and that we want it to be good, or at least better than the previous Toho Film, and of course GINO. But can a select few of you giving up on the film, you know, keep yourselves together? :eh:

You've managed to wait over 7 years without a new Godzilla film, without new content. With that in mind, what's another month or so without new info?

I'm not being negative, just mature. I know the industry and right now Warner Bros is not about to let its sterling rep get muddled and destroyed by spending way too much money on a character that may not make the money back that they spend.

Right at this moment the industry is losing lots of money and they're not getting any better at saving it. John Carter will lose millions. Disney(in its stupidity) has given the go ahead on another flop(The Lone Ranger). Warner Bros and Legendary will wait and see how well Pacific Rim does before they even think about producing G. I don't blame them. It makes perfect economic sense.

I want to see a new take on this magnificent character. And if the powers that be recognize that they can save money(one of the reasons Edwards was hired in the first place) and stop dicking around with the writing we will eventually get our movie.

For now, its officially on the back-burner. :xilien:

I'd laugh if Legendary had secretly finished the film already and arnt telling us anything about it to mess with us.

On topic; though sometimes I question the progress of the film, my faith in it remains fairly strong,

Knowing the industry and actually knowing what is going on with the team at this very moment on the project are two different things. There's no current knowledge of what's going on, so you can't say that its officially on the back burner as if its a fact, unless you personally were involved with the team.

Same, and honestly I probably would do something like that or at least get it half done so it'd be a huge surprise when a teaser trailer comes out of nowhere.

i feel those movies are a poor example. Look at how Batman recovered after B&R. The reason those movies flop is because they arent very good. A good Godzilla movie will make a ton of money at the box office because hes such a well known icon like the superhero movies and Star Trek reboot.

Also like someone said on here before LP did NOT get the Godzilla rights just to wait and see how Pacific Rim does.

My guess is the script is done and they are just getting approval and getting everything together. We should here something soon.

Don't bet on it being anytime soon, Max Borenstein is flushing out Goyer's script an in 3 day's it'll be 4 month's since it was announced he was hired... Normally it takes between 4 an 6 month's to complete a script (estimated), then it has to be approved by Legendary an after them Toho an then an announcement will be made.

July 2011 was the Official announcement David Goyer was going to make the first draft for Godzilla, I would expect an announcement at Comic-Con 2012 on the status of Godzilla or at-least a release date. I'll be surprised if we get any news before May 2012.

I don't think John Carter is going to lose that much money since it just came out. Just like gatorzilla said, I think LPG should do fine depending how well the reviews and marketing is. We just got a announcement for the film two years ago which is better then some movies when they just get a announcement then nothing at all afterwards.

While Goyer is a good writer, I just hope Borenstein does a good job on writing his story. I don't want the movie to be like the new Ghost Rider which a cool idea for a story but the movie turn out to be very flat.

The industry still makes a lot of money off of movies. Movies bomb due to word of mouth, look what happen to Battlefield Earth and Green Lantern for example.

To be fair about the whole John Carter thing, keep in mind people of this generation have no real clue who the character is, besides some people. Hell, I didn't even know who it was, and I am 32-years-old!

Godzilla is a bit different in that he is still, essentially, a recognized character. As for why it is taking so long to hear any news, this stuff takes time. Hell, I've been writing a story for on my characters for years.

I haven't seen John Carter yet, but I'm really sad that the movie isn't doing well. I've loved the original novels since I was a boy, and I hoped this might have been the gateway for the youngins to grab a copy themselves.

It's a case IMO of a fine filmmaker loving his source material far too much and not having any real experience with living performers. It would have worked far better as an animated film(and would have cost half as much). Its too bad that Stanton didn't follow Bob Clampbett's lead and make it animated. It would have been terrific.
As it is, its a bore IMO.
