There's nothing to gain from a secret film production, especially if you're not doing something vaguely Abrams-esque to keep peoples interest up. Movies, especially ones like this, rely on hype.

Well there TOTALLY aren't TONS of STUPID, probably SPOILED 12-YEAR-OLD G-FANS whose mommies and daddies will buy them ANYTHING their PRECIOUS LITTLE HEART desires. In all honesty that's probably not the case, but since it's pretty clear this movie isn't coming out until late 2012 at the earliest, it seems stupid to me. I don't know who it could be.

He wasn't denying that he was filming the film when he was.

He was just keeping aspects about the film secret (character designs, plot, etc.)

Everyone knew it was going down. Just didn't know details.

These. The movie could be great, but it probably won't be amazing. I'm personally hoping for another large renewal of interest in Godzilla here in America, but I don't expect anything like that. It's my way of avoiding disappointment.
