I remember over a year ago that LP plan to release it in 2012. Since it's almost 2012, it's very unlikely now and I think we might see it next year if they plan to move the movie forward soon.

Nothing said at Comic Con, nothing mentioned or revealed at their set-up. Obviously low on their list of priorities.

Toho has Banno acting as a watch dog and keeping a close eye on things, remember?

He can't make final decisions by himself. It all still has to go through Toho.

Do people think he's a bad choice for this project? I don't really have much of an opinion, since the only movie I've seen him attached to was Hedorah, but I was just wondering what people thought about it.

Well no but that's because he doesn't get any say on what's going to happen. He's just the middle man who keeps Toho updated on what LP and WB are doing and Toho says to him "tell them we don't like that/ we love this/ we're not sure about this/ maybe it will work if they tone this down". He's really just there to translate.

Huh. That just seems weird to me; why would they not be directly dealing with them? I mean there's no problem with that or anything, it just seemed to me that some of the news I've heard sounds like Toho isn't really interested or excited about this very much.

Anyway, 2014 is a good a guess as any; I don't see them releasing it in the fall season; I I think they would want to release it in the summer, because that is like prime time for movie releases.

Probably because they are busy working on other projects and they hired Banno to do all the watching for them. I don't know. Shrug.

It would've been nice to get thrown a bone or two on the project.

Anywhere from late 2012 to mid 2013 would be my ideal period. I want them to take care with this film and make it well and make it right, but I don't want it to drag on forever.

I already predicted 2014, so i wouldn't be disappointed if true.. 2012 was obvious Godzilla would have been completely over-shadowed no matter how good the movie was by all the sequels of major blockbuster's an the avengers. 2013 Summer seems very unlikely still might get the first official teaser.. You got Pacific Rim, Iron man 3, an other's taking up that area. Though now there's a big opening in late June an July so that is still a small possibility but that mean's filming will have to start early 2012.

I... Could still see a 2012 release. IF:

Script is written before the end of this year, or January at the latest.

Casting is done IMMEDIATELY after.

Shoot from April - July

Edit August-Sept

Release in December.

HIGHLY unlikely, but... Ya never know.

Though, I seriously see a 2014 date. So, all that^, pure best case scenario speculation.

Nah. Once a script is in, there's a lot of Toho approval/other drafts of the script to accommodate changes etc. That will probably take another 6 months. Editing will take another bit of time but the thing that will take the most is the CG. On top of that, you also have to have reshoot dates, looping sessions, sound design etc. I would expect them to start casting next year mid/late though.

Most of those won't/can't move along that quickly. Even if by some miracle it was, the movie would probably be so streamlined we'd get a rushed and criticized G98 debacle all over again (just maybe with a real Godzilla design).

2012 is out, period. The best case scenario -which doesn't mean likely- is that they're hoping for a summer 2013 release and the moving up of Pacific Rim is one piece of evidence in that argument's favor. However, 2014 or beyond is possible. I'm willing to wait a few years if I get my socks blown off. I'd rather not, but I don't want this rushed.
