Legendary Pictures says Godzilla in ''Full active development''

Yup, When trying to get an interview with Thomas Tull they replied by email an said he wasn't allowed to grant any information because the film is in full active development, it's still titled ''Godzilla 2012'' so i guess it might still have a 2012 release date? They are speculating the information to start coming by Comic Con 2011.... There is no truth to this, but leaking information could start around then.
Glad to know Godzilla is at-least going somewhere an we hear something from someone else from ''Gareth Edwards'' which isn't allowed to say anything yet.

What they show at Comic Con better be worth the wait.

What do you expect them to show? The thing is in development! I expect very little or nothing at all.

Finally!

But i still think 2012 is not a good year for this movie since there are other many movies in 2012 that people rather watch over this.

I'm happy with this bit of information. Its good to know that they are working toward a 2012 release. Most have stated here that it isn't a good idea for them to release the film next year but I'm sure it will do well. After all Godzilla is as big a name as Superman. As far as a comic con presentation on the film it might be too soon but I expect them to confirm which monsters are expected to appear but they won't give much more than that. If we're lucky they might reveal Godzilla's 2012 design and a brief review on the story.

I'm shocked he didn't know that clip of Godzilla was from Always 2. Not saying he isn't a fan because of it, but damn. Where has he been?

I'm hoping that 2013 will be its earliest year of release.

^Same. I don't buy it's in "Full development" just yet until I see more because Matt Greenfield said the same thing all the time with the Evangelion live action movie. That movie has been in development for half a decade.

If it does get a 2012 release then it will likely have a Winter 2012 release date. The new Superman movie is set to be release around December 2012, so having it to be released on that time won't be a good idea. I say May or June 2013 would be perfect, it might seem like a long time but it will be hear before you know it.

So instead of being released in winter when there are generally less actiony movies to compete with, you rather have it release in the summer when every big blockbuster movies come out? And whether or not this year is "bad" for a summer release, the following summer will be just as "bad". If they want the film to succeed, regardless of release date, they actually have to get people anticipated and excited.

2013 at the moment has:

Elysium (March 2013)
Iron Man 3 (May 2013)
The Dark Tower (May 2013)
Monster Inc. 2 (June 2013)
The Hobbit Part 2 (December 2013)
Nick Furry (TBA 2013)
Green Lantern 2 (TBA 2013)
Pacific Rim (TBA 2013)
Tron 3 (TBA 2013)

If they want to be release soon then 2013 should work since they can have the time to put into the time slot before other major movies take over. And that having in 2012 would rush the movie, and rush movies end up being awful.

^ Godzilla Vs Megalon is a prime example. Three weeks of production equals one lame piece of crap.

Prometheus (June 2012)
Pixar's Brave (June 2012)
Star Trek 2 (June 2012)
The Amazing Spider-Man (July 2012)
Ice Age 4 (July 2012)
GI Joe 2 (August 2012)
Total Recall (August 2012)
The Bourne Legacy (August 2012)
The Expendables 2 (August 2012)
Resident Evil 5 (September 2012)
Frankenweenie (October 2012)

Its May 2011 for pete sakes. No way is Godzilla out next year. I'm thinking 2013 at the earliest.

As for all those movies that Hellspawn listed, more than half of those will be pushed back.

I'm pretty sure a James Bond thread exist in the Media center. August - October tends to be a dead month for movies, I don't see a big named series like "Godzilla" being released around that time if they want it to be one of the highest grossing movies of the year.

As for all those movies that Hellspawn listed, more than half of those will be pushed back.

The 2012 movies that I listed down have release dates, and most have started filming.
