I wanna see if Godzilla can take an actual 10 years off instead like 8 or 9. Plus, it'd give em alot more time to develop the movie with story and everything else.

Is there really much of a difference between a year or 2 of time off? Not to sound rude at all.......But Godzilla has been gone long enough, the longer a franchise stays gone the smaller a fan-base becomes. Audiences will move on an find other franchises an things to accompany there time with.

With that said, also a period of ''Crap films'' will also kill a fan-base.... Which the entire ''2000 era'' of Godzilla films besides (GMK) to me at-least were a bit in lacking.... an ending with (Final Wars) also left the franchise with a sour taste in most peoples mouths.

So if it takes till 2014 to make a Good Godzilla film, Fine.... Im cool with that, but if there doing it because they think it will make some kind of difference because it's his 60th or something then they better stop kidding themselves an get the ball rolling.

Fans were thrilled in 2007 when they thought the CGI Godzilla from Toho was a sign he was coming back early, then Banno's stupid ''Yes i said Stupid'' idea for a sequel to Godzilla vs Hedorah, had fans patiently waiting for years... now thats dead.. an Legendary has given little to no word at all about Godzilla since announcing Edwards as a director...which took them an entire year to get.

Not to complain but i see no reason as to why this film at the absolute latest couldn't make a Summer (May - July) 2013 release date.

As long as it's a good movie I don't care how long we have to wait.

HS... ALL movies have "periods of silence". It's completely normal.

Yeah but it's does it over a long period of time then it could be mean that something is happening with the project. Either they have been working on it for a long time or they where working on it and not any more.

I've noticed something about TK and the new G2012 film recently.

It basiclly goes like this.

Step 1: Hear about the film

"OMG! A NEW GOJI FILM?!?! EPIC!"

Step 2: Random discussion

Step 3: News on the film surfaces

"That's cool. Nice to know it's moving along"

Step 4: no news foe a few months

"OMFG ITS IN DEVELOPMENT HELL! IT WILL NEVER BE FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*repeat steps 2-4
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

Could be that LP is busy with other movies. But the Evangelion live action movie was just like that with Weta and the movie has yet to be released.

I think Godzilla had a long enough break period especially here in the states where the last theatrical release was G2K. There are a lot of people that don't know much about the 2K series so Godzilla is very much fresh for a comeback. Again if the plate is still empty with this project come comic con then I will be convinced that LP has no writer and finished story to work with.

Tell me, HS. Exactly what are you basing this assumption on? Making a film is far more complex than we can comprehend. There are an infinite number of possibilities for the lack of news at the moment. It's nothing to worry about.

Nah. Other movies wouldn't hold this up. My guess is that it's Toho and the approval process

That was a good one Tyler^. I don't know where everyone keeps coming from with toho needing to approve everything. Anyway I think they're gearing toward a surprise announcement to begin marketing this movie.

Because Toho put an approval process on Tristar and they've put it on IDW. When Jan De Bont was in set to helm the American film (in '94, I think), he wanted three-toes and Toho insisted on four and the project was stalled. When Atari was making Godzilla games, all animations and move sets had to be sent to Toho for approval. All art for the IDW comic has to be sent to Toho before it gets printed. This is how Toho works and they aren't very open-minded about the whole process.

Besides, they're good at this whole guardian of the property role. It makes it even less likely we'll get some awful looking Godzillasaurus instead of getting a true Godzilla.

If toho were so anal about what goes and what doesn't then why did they approve anything done with Tristars version (which many would say they made it their own), and some of the moves that were used in the atari games? Toho no longer produces Godzilla on their own so I doubt they will be fussy on what they will allow LP to do. Especially when LP seems to know what they need to do.

And should I ad that this is suppose to be a re introduction to the charactor so there will be some forceful changes which toho may be willing to agree upon for an overall improvement.

That was the third Tristar backed Godzilla project since what, the late eighties? Toho already dragged their Heisei films out longer then intended and Tristar already put millions of dollars into preproduction of an American Godzilla film. Toho wanted an American Godzilla project but they were increasingly in a position not to haggle; it was a take it or leave it situation.

and some of the moves that were used in the atari games?

What about them? They're there because Toho approved them.

Thats exactly a reason TO be fussy. They aren't establishing "their" Godzilla cinematically anymore and since Godzilla is their character and property, they have every right to dictate how that property is handled. Consisdering the hoops that IDW and Atari (and Tristar in the past) have jumped through AND the previous American Godzilla project, they're going to be as anal as ever.

And should I ad that this is suppose to be a re introduction to the charactor so there will be some forceful changes which toho may be willing to agree upon for an overall improvement.

And Toho will want this reintroduction to be as proper and as faithful as possible.

Don't get me started on attari. The moves and handling of the monsters were poorly done. Everything from monsters lifting and hurling buildings to Godzillas spinarooni tail whip was stuff that I would think toho would want taken out of the game considering this isn't the depiction we ever had of the monster. The games were decent but elements like the ones mentioned made it silly. Check out Mechas break dancing and tell me attari didn't have fun and freedom doing what they wanted with tohos monsters.

Break Dancin' MechaGodzilla was hilariously awesome
Why are you complaining about a good thing?

They were games about giant monsters fighting, how serious could they be?

How dare you croco. I for one happen to take the giant monster attacking civilization theme very seriously. Is Godzilla a joke to you? If so you're missing the point. This is what I don't get, a movie character that's suppose to be taken seriously and sooo protected by the company it spawns from yet this kind of stuff flies.

It's a straight forward fighting game with Monsters; its primary goal is to entertain not educate. Godzilla and his overall shared universe IS cheesy. Trying to ignore that or somehow brush it all aside instead of trying to work with it for a modern portrayal will just give us GINO 2. That doesn't mean Godzilla should fly or talk but it doesn't mean Godzilla should be so savagely evil and straight-faced and hateful that you just make it unappealing.
