This is a general thread to discuss possible story ideas or to speculate on the plot based on what we know.

Also, feel free to discuss what you think the theme of the movie is going to be or what you would like. Will it be a nuclear theme? Will the movie have a mutation theme? Maybe a pollution theme? A war theme? Or will it just be a mankind's mistakes in general theme?

Personally I think the film will have either a mutation theme or nuclear theme since I have a feeling that if they are going to have Godzilla fight another monster they would want both of their origins to be similar/intwine so that that people won't be asking where the hell the other monster came from.

I have a feeling it will have another modern environmental theme, but I'm hoping for a simple 'Nature's Fury' thing.

I would like it that the film has an anti-nuclear message. North Korea keeps testing nuclear weapons without permission, they are threatening the US with them just because we are doing "drills", and Iran is doing some questionable work with their nuclear stuff. Hell, Obama is soon gonna be given a set of the Barefoot Gen manga for just this reason. Why not make Godzilla about that? It is a hot topic. Hell, not to mention the finding of russian spies recently. It is allegory material right there. It is the allegory of the original Gojira made relavant today. Just have Godzilla attack Japan, North Korea, and 80% of it the US. In that, get pollitical with the main characters being scientists and journalists. Bam. Brooding and such but can still be for kids.

I like the idea of seeing Godzilla as a myth but with without the mystical stuff.

Maybe like Godzilla attacked Japan in the 50's but was covered up by the Japanese Government after it disappeared/Died, but rumors and stories from survivors were still told.

I'd like a theme touching upon Man's mistakes. An anti-nuclear or anti-war message would be great too

And I've already said I like the idea of Godzilla being treated as a myth until he shows up in all his glory.

Socially relevant yet entertaining. It doesn't have to be as heavy as the original, but to bring back Godzilla and remind us of what he's all about would be nice. It's gotta kick GINO's ass basically.

What kind of story ideas would you guys like to see for the film?

Here are a few of my ideas:

The first idea takes place from the beginning, having Godzilla created by a North Korean bio nuclear weapons test along with another kaiju. Godzilla and this other monster (probably a giant insect Queen) are the top predators of a newly formed mutant ecosystem created by the aforementioned bioweapons. The movie revolves around Godzilla and this other monster fighting and hunting down each other for control of the planet, showing how humanity is caught in the crossfire and having the final battle take place in a major city like Los Angeles or San Francisco.

The second idea is based some what on the "meh" Quentin Tarantino idea.

This idea takes a lot of inspiration from G 94 and some from Quentin Tarantino's Godzilla idea. This story is similar to Godzilla 2000, having Godzilla present in the beginning of the film. The story takes place in 1964 Japan, 10 years after Godzilla's first attack on Tokyo. Since then, Godzilla has been rampaging through the Land of the Rising Sun while defending it from other kaiju at the same time. The story has the world's greatest Generals, scientists, etc, form a team and go to Japan after the country asks for help. They arrive just as Godzilla is attacking an island village and fighting another kaiju, the opening scene of the film. The rest of the movie reveals Godzilla's history and origins, has him battle a few other kaiju, and ends with a huge battle in Tokyo against an alien monster that landed on Earth using a meteor (most likely King Ghidorah).

I like the idea, and if the rumors of that LP wants Godzilla to fight a gaint insect are for real then it might end up being Mothra. I don't like the idea of Mothra being created by nuclear weapons since it sounds like something that Roland Emmerich would do.

Notice how scary LP made Joker, Twoface, and Scarecrow?

If Mothra is in this movie, which I doubt it, they won't make her a fluffy cute thing. They would probably make her look like a real moth only, you know, giant and badly mutated.

I would like the idea that this film "followed" the original 1954 movie. Perhaps what happened in 1954 was kept confidential for whatever reason and people, over time, had forgotten what transpired at the time. Current nuclear arms testing could awaken a "second" Gojira that brings to light what actually happened in the 1950's.

If Mothra, I would like to see the twins introduced as those who warn a certain people (the main characters) of Godzilla's emergence from the testing. They try to convince others of what will happen but are obviously not taken seriously. Godzilla comes, does some shit, then people beg for the help of Mothra.

The end of the movie could show the twins warning the same main characters that Godzilla is not what worries them but what will eventually come from the skies. (a nod to King Ghidorah)

A solo Godzilla movie does not do very well in the USA since Return of Godzilla was a box office bomb back in 1985, and G98 being a solo movie is one the reasons why people did not like the movie.

It was Noland that made them scary, and dark. We don't know who will be hire for the movie yet.

A solo Godzilla movie does not do very well in the USA since Return of Godzilla was a box office bomb back in 1985, and G98 being a solo movie is one the reasons why people did not like the movie.

But Godzilla 1985, as it was called here, wasnt being produced by an American company. That was all Toho. Legendary Pictures has a pretty good track record within the past 5-6 years.

Am I the only one thinking they might use Kamacuras? I mean I always felt the Mantis idea was cool, but Kamacuras got the short end of the stick. Or it could be Kumonga. Both of those, done right, would look down right scary. Anyway, as for fitting them in, easy, they're mutated by nuclear testing or something.

Personally, I'd kinda like to see Gigan, because, let's face it, if they made Joker that scary, imagine an LP Gigan and tell me you wouldn't have nightmares.
