I still think Giacchino would be the best choice, though I could see James Newton Howard also doing a good job.

What about Brian Tyler (AVPR, Rambo, Dragon Ball Evolution, and Skyline)?

None of those scores really struck me, guess we'll see how he does with Skyline.

I really like his score for AVPR. He did a great job on the main theme for the movie, and I like how he mixed some old tracks from the other movies into a new score.

It feels out of place and would make the film seem disturbingly removed from its original source material. The only film to do this so far was GFW and every time those horrid tracks were played my ears hurt.

I do not mind if a rock song plays during the credits or maybe a snippet of instrumental peice is thrown in here or there, but overall I want a traditional orchestrated or choir score for this film.

Aw, come on. You know you want to hear some Devildriver in a Godzilla flick! (Joking....)

I agree 100% with what you said. Orchestral pieces would work best, even in this age of Bieber boys.

I hope the soundtrack is orchestral with a mixture of some choir/chorus, maybe even a few Latin or even Japanese cues for some dark somber moments,
Maybe they should do a mixed composer thing like have a Japanese composer and a Hollywood composer to make a grand epic score that would capture the aspects of both cultures.

I think for Hollywood composers, John Williams would be a perfect choice and could make a memorable Godzilla score just like the rest of his awesome music, Steve Jablonsky (I liked his military style cues he did for Transformers), Hans Zimmer (I liked his scores for Pirates of the Caribbean and Drop Zone), James Newton Howard (Because he did a fantastic job for King Kong’s 2005 remake, and even Disney’s Dinosaur), David Arnold could work two as some his cues for “GODZILLA” 1998 weren’t bad if only the movie could have lived up to the score, Alan Silvestri is a personal favourite for me (loved his score for Van Helsing), Howard Shore (because I loved the epic scale and choir music he did for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy).

For Japanese composers like some other have already stated, Shiro Sagisu would be an excellent choice. I’m a fan of his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion and it is beautiful, powerful, emotional, compelling and sometimes creepy and atmospheric. Another one would be Koichi Sugiyama because I loved his unique score for “Godzilla vs. Biollante” it really gave you the sense like you were watching something new and fresh, Kow Otani wouldn’t be a bad choice either because I loved the choir cues for his work on “Shadow of the Colossus”.

I'm starting to think Michael Giacchino is the only guy who could do this.

I want to hear the classic Godzilla theme in the form of an Epic Choir, example being this.

They need to have Godzilla's theme in this movie damn it.

With that said, i thought this was cool someone playing Godzilla's theme on piano. Sounds pretty good to me.

I don't really care if they use the Toho songs or not. It's not a Toho movie. So... No, they don't need it in the film. If they use it, fine, if they don't, fine. I just want good music that fits the movie.

Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, have John Williams do it.

Don't expect it, but it's a dream.

I think Michael Giacchino is a terrific choice for this movie, because of this:

It pays great homage to Ifukube while adding new things.

My other top picks would be Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and Craig Armstrong.

I agree that Giacchino would be great for this movie, however I think that he will be an unlikely choice. Artists like variety, and I doubt Giacchino would want to score another giant monster film, which would ultimatley just be compared to his previous work.

I was underwhelmed by those scores. I actually like the guy who did the first Iron Man though.

I LOVED Ramin Djawadi's Iron Man score and felt the sequel sorely missed him. Him or Hans Zimmer are my top choices. As for hopeless fan dreams? Kenji Kawai would create an amazing Godzilla soundtrack, just listen to his score for Ultraman Nexus to see what I mean.

The movie has to have a Classical Score throughout with out question. Whatever they do for music outside the movie to create revenue doesn't matter to me.

If they add a little new age to the score, that's fine as long as it doesn't sound like a shitty rock/rap song I'm fine.
