It's already been confirmed by none other then Gareth that there's gonna be another monster besides Godzilla.

And Millenium started off with a fight with Orga.

I'm good with another monster. I just hope they spend plenty of time on Godzilla first before introducing the other one. Should be Anguirus or Rodan, a more familiar monster that Godzilla can have a cool battle with but not kill. Then maybe bring in King Ghidorah or someone in the sequel and give him a big buildup.

O ok thats fine with me if there is another monster... and i thought the 1998 Godzilla was the main reason toho started making movies on godzilla again because they didnt plan on making more originally till 2005

Ithink three. Godzilla (obviously), a weaker, introductory monster and a small battle like the one in GMK with Baragon vs Godzilla, and then later on, maybe have the real opponent appear.

I have a weird feeling that this movie might just exceed all expectation, like "The Dark Knight" did.

It might just be called Godzilla, because he was the first, and maybe in the remake what makes him is tied into what makes the other earliest Showa Kaiju. I see it as a remake of Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster or at the most awe inspiring, a new version or lead up to Destroy All Monsters, maybe omitting the appearance of the aliens or their hench monsters to have them show up in a possible sequel.

Just one big hellish atomic age nightmare where a number of monsters attack the human populace With Godzilla at the fore as one of the more unstoppable ones.

Right now I can picture a horrifying and tragic scene of showa Baragon in the process of eating a busload of people, only raising his head to answer a challenge by Anguirus. I see the carnivorous Baragon fleeing the scene shortly after by tunneling underground, leaving Anguirus there to be mistaken by the arriving military to be the horned, quadrupedal dinosaur that was responsible for the human carnage.

Also, I think Ghidorah is the best bet for what squares off with Godzilla. The two monsters are viewed as rivals, and they both resemble fire breathing dragons of myth, which trump ordinary random dinosaurs. I first figured this when I picked up the game Godzilla; Save The Earth. I could not help but compare King Ghidorah to later alien looking foes like Destroya and SpaceGodzilla. I found Ghidorah's appearance every bit as alien and fearsome, yet familiar with his three dragon like heads, making him fit in with the earth born mutations a lot better.

I'd have been fine with a solo Godzilla picture, but since we know it's going to be two monsters in this film then I'll vote for that. However, I wouldn't mind a less significant "monster", a la Shockirus. Unfortunately, I guarantee you if they did a sort of parasite that it would be labeled a Cloverfield plot device rip off even though Godzilla did it over two decades before Cloverfield did.

Your right! I almost forgot about that creepy scene on the boat in Godzilla '84, with the mutant sea louse!

Before that I figured the parasites used in Cloverfield were rip offs of the GINO babies in GINO. The two films are actually pretty similar and fun to compare and contrast.
Like the idea of HUD capturing the monster on camera is very similar to how Animal captures Gino on camera, right down to the looking up at it from beneath POV.
I view both as enjoyable monster films and think GINO would have been good if it had not been put forth as "Godzilla". It sure had more scenes where the monster appears than in Cloverfield.

It'd be interesting to mix the trilobite from the original with the Giant Sea Louse.

Yeah, the scenes from both movies always gave me chills. Dr. Yamane's talk of a living trilobite and traces of Strantium90 being found in the footprint, and that ship full of dead crew and one guy with radiation burns appearing suddenly to save that reporter from the Sea Louse in the 1984 movie.

Hm, Godzilla, New monster, Obsidius and Krystalak as cannonfodder, just so the fans of those two monsters will see them in a movie and not complain. Godzilla wipes out Obsidius and Krystalak, then fights the new monster that Legendary Pictures and Toho make.

As JVM said above, we should probably just have Godzilla, a "Mook" or "Dragon" sort of cannon-fodder monster, and then the Big Bad.

Kaiju-wars... here's the main problem with your idea... Why would either Krystalak or Obsidious make it into this movie? Both of them came from a video-game that... frankly... didn't do well. Legendary Pictures would have more sucess bringing in Rodan, or Varan, or some other monster that's popular, and not two video game rejects (Though I DO want to see Bagan in this movie, but I know that won't happen). Plus, the main villan monster will probably be something from Toho's archives of monsters... something people already know, not a brand new Kaijuu...

Personally, i want there to be 3 monsters: Goji himself, a weaker monster like Anguirous for him to fight off at the start, then a tougher kaijuu like King Ghidorah or Destroyah that creams both the other kaijuu and Goji's butts, forcing them to team together to defeat the true villan...

That, I think, is a good idea, and you made really valid points, what I am getting at is that, Obsidius and Krystalak, or just one of them as fodder. You know, just so people will stop saying, this or that would happen if they were in a movie. (Well, were I live at, that happens a lot) You know, have something similar to GMK as in Godzilla fights three monsters, but this time, he is a good monster, not evil souls of WW2. That is all I am saying.
