Its been almost one week since WW release and already the film has made nearly $300 million. If that's not impressive I don't know what is.

Given how the film has been doing its certainly at least over $300 million at this point. Needs $330 million to break even.

The thing to note, there's no real agreement as to what the budget is since neither Legendary nor Warner Brothers have revealed that (as studios rarely ever reveal it). As Wikipedia puts it:

The Numbers reported the production budget to be $155 million. In December 2020, Variety reported the budget to be $160 million (and doubled-down on that this month), while TheWrap reported the budget to be $165 million. In January 2021, both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline Hollywood stated the budget to be $200 million. In February 2021, Comingsoon.net also noted the film's budget to be $200 million. Googling, I see USA Today reported the budget to be $160 Million, while Forbes reported it to be $165 Million. The New York Times reported in December that the budget is $155 Million.

So the "break even" point is anywhere between $310 Million and $400 Million and the "clear success" point anywhere between $387 Million and $450 Million. But with the matter of whatever deal Legendary and Warner Brothers struck for the dual theatrical/streaming release plus the complete mystery of how to convert however its doing on HBO Max into data we can understand relative to the box office returns...it's basically impossible at this point to work out anything. It's basically "half box office plus secret number on top of that versus unconfirmed amount spent on budget".

Warner Brothers and Legendary seem very happy with the movie's response and performance so far in both theaters and streaming, so that's probably the only thing we really need to know.

Don't think this will affect Godzilla vs. Kong's current run in theaters and HBOMax but figured I bring this up.
