I’m pretty certain Jonah was intentionally generic for some big reveal that he’s actually an alien. He isn’t given any backstory, and is super creepy. He also doesn’t get his commupance. It’s not far fetched at all, because there’s plenty of Godzilla films where aliens either inhabit human bodies or control them.

Future of the Monsterverse: Monarch TV show. Let's just say there's some rumors they are planning it ;)
