why not just rip the 3D version?
Not everyone owns that release or has the means of storing such a big file on their computer.

It looks a little more cartoony, but I really dig it .Very clear and easy to follow action.

They probably do but just don't know about the release. They had to rip the movie to the hard drive to even do the adjustments anyway.

Still not sure why they didn't release it in 4K yet. Maybe waiting for a 4K MonsterVerse set? Still holding out hope for an extended cut as it's the only way I'd even bother getting G14.

For one thing, the cut Akira Takarada cameo that was publicized pretty heavily. A still of it exists but no footage.

Oh look. You can actually see what is happening in there. Why this kind of lighting wasn’t present at the cinema and in home video :? ?

That single cameo could have saved the movie if it wasn’t cut out

WB really missed an excellent opportunity to fix that damn transfer with the 2019 Blu-Ray release. I legit can't understand what went wrong
The lightened up version looks amazing. Also, just now noticed that the brief moment of Ford seeing Godzilla's tail move as he walks from a ground perspective sorta lines up with what Mark saw in the beginning of KOTM. Pretty sure this is unintentional but still kinda cool.

The lightened up version is so much better imo. The lighting in it was my main gripe with the film.

...Huh?

The guy asked what cut footage would be included, I told him one such piece. What's your problem?

WB needs to pay that person to lighten up the entire movie and release. I'd buy it again if it looked like that.

Just wait for the inevitable 4K. That should alleviate most of the darkness problems, especially with a good 4K TV.

Hope so, saw this on TV the other night and it was unbearably dark, really makes you appreciate how much easier to see KOTM is.

It feels like a whole new movie. I love it.
When those fleeting lives destined to die, forget their humbleness and sing praises of their glory, such will shake the very heavens and split the earth, and they shall know the wrath of the divine. The inevitable incarnation of destruction. So, you show yourself at last. Since we last saw each other, it has been 20 years for us and 20,000 years for you. It's been a while... Oh, King of Destruction.

"Well snap, looks like they released the crappy transferred overly dark version again. Welp, time to wait for the next $6 Blu-Ray in hopes they will FINALLY correct it. It'll happen eventually, right?"

No joke, I just switched my brightness settings around and it was just as bright as the original theater version
