Death or retreat or captured?

Postby Living Corpse » Tue Nov 16, 2010 7:13 pm

OK guys, when it comes to the fate of the enemy monster(s) do you think LP can pull off a retreat so they can bring the monster back for another film if there is one or do you think they should just kill it and if there is another film use a different monster?

This idea actually has a lot of potential, old foes could come back as reluctant allies against more powerful critters or if say they use King Ghidorah they can bring him back for the next film, hell maybe have him converted by the U.S. army into Mecha-King Ghidorah as a sort of anti monster weapon once they recover his comatose body.

What are your thoughts on this subject guys?

Retreat/defeat/imprisonment.

Options for sequels. Although I actually wouldn't mind if this were a stand alone film. Assuming that is the case, I would like to see some sense of finality to the film.

I say kill the enemy monsters. Hopefully in a awesome way. If any of them are so poular that they feel the need to bring them back, just bring in another member of the same species.

Depending on the monster and the plot of the movie. I can't say for sure.

They need to kill the enemy monster off... Which-ever it maybe an maybe leave traces of DNA or bacteria that could form another monster to battle Godzilla if this film manages to get a Sequel or 2 at most.

Kind of like how the did ''Biollante'' despite people saying the film was all over the place if Legendary had a Sequel an they picked up the idea to use Godzilla DNA or let's say it's King Ghidorah's then it could be made to create another monster to challenge Godzilla or the monster re-form into a stronger version of itself. I think something possibly along those lines might work.

But if they use Ghidorah, Rodan or whatever in the first film i say kill them off i don't need to see them again in a Sequel.

Well finally a new thread. The lack of news from LP got this board dead. Anyway I always liked how Ghidorah and Gigan retreated in their battles with Godzilla in the old showa films. But no I can't see this trend continue especially now. I dont expect monster factions, they will most likely all have their own agendas. My guess is the monsters will fight til the death and will have an anti climatic ending to leave fans wanting more.

As long as it isn't Godzilla dying or retreating, I don't care what the enemy monster's fate is.

Death/Retreat, doesn't matter. If the monster is supposed to come back, they can always find a way to write it back in despite death.

I think that it depends on which monster, what its role is in the film, and what its role has been previously in the Toho films. I don't really want to see Rodan or Anguirus, for instance, being killed in "an awesome way". Hedorah, on the other hand, would be a good enemy for killing.

I really don't think the American franchise will last that long. So I hope they kill them off. That way we can get as many new enemies as possible before the rides over.

I'd be bored with the series if the same monster(s) was/were spared for a sequel, UNLESS the sequel had some new monsters. I'd rather have Godzilla obliterate his opponent.

Just because a monster doesn't die doesn't mean that it has to return in a sequel.

Falling off a cliff into the ocean or flying back into outer space isn't very satisfying anymore. So I hope the bad guy gets blown the hell up Gamera style.

Depends on the monster. If it's a beast that could become an ally in the future, like Anguirus or Rodan, keep it alive. If it's a flat-out villain, kill it in a spectacular manner.

If the main villain is King Ghidorah then I have a feeling Godzilla will kill him similar how Godzilla killed KG in GvsKG.

I'd say the enemy monster in the first film must be killed.Godzilla should at least be defeated or imprisoned, sort of like in the Return of Godzilla did it,like Godzilla falls into Mount Mihara's volcano and doesn't die but is imprisoned.
Though, this doesn't necessarily mean he has to be imprisoned in an volcano. He could be trapped onto an island surrounded by a force field or something like that. And something that seems to match Godzilla's strength can destroy the forcefield somehow from the outside.
It's a signature with words. What more can you want?

... Considering I was brought up and raised during the 'Leave no survivors' era in terms of enemies, I say let em live. Sure you can make the argument that Godzilla leaving his opponent alive is nothing special anymore, but I can make the same argument about Godzilla overkilling his opponents. How many opponents has Godzilla let live? 5 (6 if you include Gabara). How many has he set out to kill, but escaped? 5. How many has he killed/destroyed? 25. How many left ambiguous? 4... I think it's time to lay Serial Killer Goji to rest...

I honestly never really liked it when they let enemy beasts get away. However, if they were to return for a planned sequel, like Starscream in the Transformers films, I would be all for it.
