Despite the many times Godzilla had lost or nearly lost to had it not been for help...

-King Kong
-Mothra Larvaes
-King Ghidorah (Showa)
-Mechagodzilla (Showa)
-Mothra (Heisei) and Battra
-Mecha-King Ghidorah
-Mechagodzilla (Heisei)
-SpaceGodzilla
-Kiryu and Mothra Larvaes

While he also almost lost to but won through plot or outside help:

-Kumonga (Showa); Help from Minilla
-Hedorah (Showa); Help from humanity
-Gigan (Showa) and King Ghidorah (Showa); Help from humanity
-Mechagodzilla (Showa); help from King Caesar
-Mechagodzilla II (Showa) and Titanosaurus; Help from humanity
-King Ghidorah (Heisei); Help from humanity
-Mechagodzilla (Heisei); Help from Rodan (Heisei)
-SpaceGodzilla; Help from Moguera (Heisei) considering in their first fight SpaceGodzilla won
-Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah; Help from humanity

Then again though it probably really depends on the incarnation of Godzilla or unless this is a new incarnation as a whole especially one ridiculously powerful like FW Godzilla or Burning Godzilla.

-Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah; Help from humanity
Kumonga: Debatable, Minilla was just as much in the way that set Godzilla up for some attacks.

Hedorah: No question here.

Gigan and Ghidorah: Wrong, Godzilla was winning this fight up till the Godzilla tower entered and turned it into 3 on 2. Along Godzilla had Gigan and Ghidorah on the run.

MechaG: agree

MechaGII and Titano: Needed help but it was also 2 on 1 in the first place.

King Ghidorah: Debatable, the fight to me was at worse a draw and King Ghidorah was destroyed when on even playing fields.

MechaG: He needed help against Super MechaGodzilla which was a fusion Mecha and Rodan evened the playing field. Normal MechaG would have been destroyed.

SpaceG: Agree here.

Monster X/Keizer: Another debatable one. Monster X was starting to lose the fight when he got his Keizer power up which I belive was from X. Keizer Godzilla in this case would be evening the playing field again.

You forgot the Mutos and I would say Mothra (Heisei) and Battra is a draw and Mecha-King Ghidorah is a draw.

AI controlled Ghidorah was generously handing Godzilla his scaly grey ass.

A Feral/Angered/Confused Ghidorah nearly choked out Godzilla if it wasn't for another stun from the Nuclear Pulse. Mind you this was in the same battle, in a very short time span. After regaining your own self awareness for possibly the first damn time, he nearly choked out a nearly powered up Godzilla. That's pretty damn impressive.

I wouldn't call Rodan evening the playing field. >.> Sure he was strongk, but he didn't really do much other then knock out MG's eye that got restored once he combined with Garuda. Which brings me to my next point -

UNGCC MG also generously handed Godzilla his own behind on a silver platter. If it wasn't for another plot power, and revealing that MG can overheat/short circuit rather easily. He probably would have killed Godzilla right then and there. It was absolutely no contest.

Eh - were getting kinda off topic here.

OT: Ask me this a few year ago, I provably would have said - sure, why not. Now? Not so much. Keep them separate. If Hollywood decides to put them together, I might be a little upset but hey - if it does good, then it's good by me.

Now now. The PR robots now have various upgrades I'm sure they could do some damage to G.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I'm not sure I feel Pacific Rim deserves a crossover with Godzilla. I feel the franchises (if PR even deserves the moniker with one movie under its belt) have extremely differing levels of quality where world-building is concerned. Godzilla has decades of lore, monsters, and ideas to build on, whereas Pacific Rim has yet to prove it has the chops to be as versatile as Godzilla's films can be.

So long as the MonsterVerse is finished. To include the MonsterVerse Godzilla, you'd have to re-write the whole backstory of the first movie. So no. But if the MonsterVerse goes no farther than G vs KK, sure, let's do it.

Yeah. I feel like if it did happen it'd have to be after GvKK by default. Otherwise it really would throw the timeline out of wack.

Most likely scenario is Monsterverse phase 1 will end with GvsKK, then Phase two will be a reboot in the pacific rim universe and will reboot Godzilla and Kong.

Not in a movie, but if it was a in a graphic novel, manga, or an anime I'd be fine with it.

No.

No reason to. This doesn't need to ever be made, ever. Just keep Godzilla in the Monsterverse.

My thoughts exactly. Those or a comic book. Doesn't however need to be a movie though.

Counterpoint:

1.) Godzilla in Pacific Rim would be a great excuse to go "full Showa!!"
2.) Mecha Godzilla makes a lot of sense in this universe.
3.) It's possible that the story arc of the MonsterVerse concludes with G vs KK, which means a reboot would have to be in the works for more movies anyway.

Full disclosure: I enjoyed Pacific Rim, but I'm sort of half-hearted on it -- especially if Idris Ebla isn't in the sequel(s).

That is the only argument for this crossover that has lessened my notion that it's a terrible idea. Bravo. I would love to see what "full Showa!!" looks like with a Hollywood budget.

I say no. It'll keep the lore of both series stable while preserving PR's uniqueness as a series.

I don't object, but it will have to be a brand new Godzilla, as the Monsterverse is just incompatible with Pacific Rim. Probably be a very fun movie, Godzilla vs a bunch of giant mecha, you have to go out of the way to fuck that up.

That attitude basically invites fucking it up.

Telling a good story, particularly in a medium as complicated as cinema, is never easy. Assuming that a few high concept details will make a thing inherently compelling just encourages lazy storytelling.

There are a lot of films that have been made where this question applied in pre-production. Transformers, for example.

If it happened, I'd be okay with it. But if I had a choice, I'd keep them apart.
