Monster Discussion: Mire Squid

Despite its small appearance, I liked how the Mire Squid was pretty much a nod to Oodako from the 1962 film of King Kong vs. Godzilla and pretty unique how its a take on an freshwater cephalopod. Aside from the Sker Buffalo and Skull Crawlers. Probably without a doubt one of my favorite monsters in the film.

The profile mentions they can raise their body temperature so the ink they shoo out is boiling hot. I wish they had used that.

Yeah it was definitely a wasted opportunity for a really cool fight. It should have been a longer sequence. Still, I love the KKvG callback and I'm glad it was included.

I loved Chapman's reaction to it, just a mix of confused and afraid and not knowing which one he should be.

It was such an unexpected scene for me when Kong ate it. So cool!

It's a cool creature, not as strong as he looks, yet a good design and a nice nod.
Kong looks so cute when he starts eating him. <3

I loved it so much, I think I shouted "Rematch! Rematch! Oodako's comin' back for the title!" in the theater.
