I'd really like Hawkins and Strathairn to return; they didn't get much to do in the first film but they did a great job with what little they had and showed a lot of potential.Cookson wrote: Awwwwwwww yeah. Wouldn't mind if Sally Hawkins came back if they gave her more to do.

Sally can be developed further.
By the way, I like this casting choice. Hopefully that seven-figure salary means he won't be offed in the first half hour.

Same! And, dare I say it, I won't mind if Olsen and the kid came back.Variola wrote:I'd really like Hawkins and Strathairn to return; they didn't get much to do in the first film but they did a great job with what little they had and showed a lot of potential.Cookson wrote: Awwwwwwww yeah. A scientist, huh? I always pictured him as a military man in King Kong (you know, hunky actor character and all)bczilla91 wrote:More info-
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... uel-978221Plot details are being kept locked on a South Pacific island, but Chandler will play a scientist and father of Brown's character. The role makes him ostensibly the hero of the movie.
The first film in the franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards and released in 2014, earned $529.1 million worldwide.
Chandler, who won an Emmy and received multiple nominations for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights, currently stars on Netflix’s Bloodline, for which he has received two Emmy noms for his role as John Rayburn. The actor was most recently seen in Manchester by the Sea with Casey Affleck.
Chandler was fielding multiple offers for feature gigs but opted for the Godzilla sequel, nabbing a seven-figure deal in the process, according to sources.
Chris, Watanabe's return official soon!? I fuckin' hope so!

Funny enough i just saw King Kong 2005 the other day, he's a good actor... I'm glad Godzilla 2 is starting with such promising actor/actresses i hope it continues with further announcements.

I'm really glad we're getting good actors. 2014 had good actors, it's just that most of them weren't given that much to do.

When I first heard the news, I was a bit dismissive because I couldn't identify the fellow just from his name. Totally didn't realize he was in Kong or several others things I'm a fan of.

Glad to see casting news is picking up, not to mention news that they're getting another good actor.

Ken Watanabe is listed on IMDB as "rumored" now. Fingers crossed!

Chris pretty much confirmed Watanabe is coming back, or at least is currently in talks to.

At least he's a trustworthy source. A lot more trustworthy than even the likes of ScreenCrush, lol

In all seriousness, he was the 2nd best character next to Joe. I think he did a good job with what he was given in 2014, and he has a lot of potential.

In all seriousness, though, Serizawa was a decent character. He was kind of the "voice of reason" and the only one who truly respected Godzilla from the beginning. It's a shame he was pushed to the background in the second half of the film.Kaijunator wrote:Yes. He was an awesome character. Everyone was pushed to the background in the second half. Everyone not named Ford that is.

Nice get on KC (hey, same first name as me. )
As for a new female actress, I'd be down for Rebecca Ferguson. Her star is on the rise after Rogue Nation and talented to boot. She definitely sounds like the type of actor (or rather actress) they'd go after for a movie like this (and the types of names they pursued for the first movie): a fairly big name, up-and-coming actor/actress with some credentials on his/her side, but not a megastar (well, maybe Cranston).

I'd personally go for someone like Emily Blunt, Scarlett Johanson, or Emma Stone as the main actress
