Did everybody forget that this film features Hiddleston and SLJ? Just another thing to keep in mind, but if you elect to ignore that fact, you know, that's cool too

The cast in this is GREAT! With that aspect, it depends on how they market this. Having Brie Larson in this might even attract woman AND MCU fans wanting a glimpse at her. The cast is definitely not going to hurt the film, that's for sure.

When all you do is complain 'how bad a film did/is going to do at a box office", in another country and when it finally comes to United States you refuse to support it in a theater. You kinda come off as an extreme tool and generate a lot of negative around you. Understandably mind you. You kinda set yourself up for this.
OT: At the end of the day, I think Kong will do well. /shrug
Ya just to piggy back off this, as a general rule of thumb, if you act ridiculous on this forum you will easily catch some flak for it and that is completely understandable and within the bounds of the rules, but always remember not to over extend with roasting someone. Excessive roasting leads to people getting warnings generally on both sides
I've never ever called another member out like people do to me, I say what I feel but I don't make it personal. People take what I say so personal, like I truly did something egregious.

Nothing I say about the box-office can be considered hate. I go by data, there's no hate with 1's and 0's, just cold, hard, facts.
Sadly, I must make you aware that anything I say is my opinion.

Contrary to popular belief, I did like Godzilla 2014

Define majority. Studios keep only 25% of China's gross. Now Wanda owns Legendary how high do you think that percentage is going be? 50%, 75%? Then there is the fact that WB is going to get some of that pie too.

There was a article that said it was between that 50-75 you mentioned. Where that article is, I don't know or remember who published it.

So, LP obviously has an advantage in that department compared to other studios.

^ In NA theaters get 45%. I always assumed in China that was the same number with 30% going to the distributor (Hollywood studios NEVER get to distribute their own movies in China which is why they get stuck with only 25%). So with Wanda being the distributor that would mean 55% goes to LP. Maybe 60% tops. I can't imagine it going as high as 75%.

Those two aren't really box-office draws though.

Says who? I get it, they have both been in unsuccessful films in the past (like Crimson Peak), but a familiar property like King Kong with famous, talented people in the spotlight doesn't exactly boil down to an immediate box office failure.

They're good actors but hardly box-office draws.

Sam Jackson not a box office draw, since when.

He's arguing against the notion that he's a box office draw. That's why he used the word "hardly."

I misinterpreted what he was saying. Oops.

They're not necessarily draws, but they for sure aren't going to hurt the film. It does give instant credibility I think.

For sure, I've mentioned they are both nice editions to any film they are in.

The stars won't hurt the film, but time has shown again and again that star power means nothing, especially when they're on the smaller side, like K:SI's cast is. What gets butts into seats are movies with strong trailers that show off something both good and new, not a particular actor.

Boy... People from box office forums are predicting a 50m opening with a 150m domestic total.

Don't know if that would hurt the Godzilla Kong cinematic universe, but that total would suck. It wouldn't be BAD, but not really good either.

I do think Kongs overseas total will be better than G14 though.

The same people believed that Blair Witch would be the highest grossing horror film of 2016.

We still have two months left. There's no point in worrying yet.

Film could do slightly better or worse than Godzilla 2014, but I think overall it'll be comparable. Both got a big pop culture presence with smaller details that could give one an advantage.

Regardless what happens here domestically, I believe it's overseas gross will be stronger than G14.

A 150m DOM 380 OS for 530m total would be decent enough.

Also remember LP and Wanda now keep a lot of the Chinese gross... A advantage that other films don't have.
