That's what I had been thinking and to be honest. Zilla nowadays since Final Wars had been getting more respect since people now sees him as his own monster rather then an incarnation of Godzilla. Apparently though I doubt we will see Zilla get in which is kind of a shame but at the least can hope for the best that he does.

If anybody is getting introduced in Skull Island, it should be Mothra or Rodan: an animal that could conceivably reside on such an island.

What if he just appeared in an end credits scene or easter egg as a set up for G2 or GvKK? I think that would be cool. Similar to how Thanos has been built up as a major threat over several movies in the MCU.

Years ago I had the idea that it would be awesome to introduce King Kong in a Godzilla rematch by having him defeat Varan, styled after an actual Komodo dragon. (Since "Varan" derives from "Varanus", the genus of monitor lizards) I had envisioned almost exactly what dopepope did earlier this year:



This obviously won't happen in Skull Island, but it'd be neat.

I, too, agree that an upscaled monitor lizard monster would be dope as hell for Kong to fight, especially given that I don't believe he has faced-off against a lizard in previous installments.

I'd like Kong to fight something different for a change. Something more than just a giant animal. Like one of those rumored opponents he's supposedly going to fight (however unlikely it is that it's true).

The rumored alien would be an interesting thing for Kong to fight. Unlike Godzilla, he's never fought an extraterrestrial to my knowledge.

Not even joking. Maguma fits the bill perfectly. The cost for acquiring his rights would be simple. He's obscure, he's a giant natural mammal, and could easily live on Skull Island.

Way too early for such a villain. Usually evil/hybrid/robot clones come in the sequels.

Moreover like King Kong, despite being an natural animal. Varan too is worshipped as a God by his native people being called Baradagi.

A great way around it is that Skull Island is home to two native people races, these two happens to be rivals and worship different creatures as Gods. King Kong for the natives shown in the trailer. Varan (Baradagi) for the other natives and both King Kong and Varan happen to be rivals due to this having clashed various times to determine who owns the island.

IMO I'd say Maguma would fit better and debut in a Destroy All Monsters style kind of film.
