I read on one of the postings on ''Comingsoon.net'' that Junkie XL was going to be scoring Godzilla 2. It was naming his upcoming projects and he was attached to it.

FOUND IT - He is scoring Godzilla 2 and Spectral for Legendary

Official posting - While the first Deadpool was perhaps better known for its needle drops (DMX, “Angel of the Morning”) than its score, Junkie XL made a big contribution to the film. He’s in no danger of running out of work though, as he’s set to score Legendary’s Spectral and Godzilla 2, Sony’s The Dark Tower and DC Films’ Justice League. He’s best known for his work on Mad Max: Fury Road and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This better be true. His BvS score was god.

I kinda wish Desplat would return. His score was really epic and heavy, perfect for a Kaiju fight.

Like Tyrant said, it's likely going to be Douglas Pipes. I calculate a 95% chance that he's the guy

Desplat would be a good choice too. I am a big fan of his G14 score. I hope the awesome parts aren't cut out. A good example would be the ending of Golden Gate Chaos not being played in the final film.

I haven't seen Trick R Treat or Krampus, but in general I rather like the pick of Michael Dougherty for Director.

At least as far as the track record for the MonsterVerse goes....Gareth Edwards jumped up from a single feature with Monsters to Godzilla, likewise, the only feature Vogt-Roberts had before Skull Island was Kings of Summer.

Dougherty has two feature films under his belt, and genre stuff seems right up his alley. If Legendary and co have faith in him, then I think he'll do a good job.

I intend to watch both of his films to get a sense of his style, just to see what kind of execution we might be in store for.

A conductor is not the same thing as composer. Composers write the music. Conductors do exactly what their titles imply.

However, the last time Harry Gregson-Williams served as conductor on a film, it was for Cowboys & Aliens (2011). He also served as composer on that film.

It's hard to tell for now. We'll have to wait and see.

Oh, alright. I'm still hoping for Junkie XL, Brian Tyler, Michael Giacchino, or Hans Zimmer to be the composer. If Desplat returned that'd be cool as well.

You'll be waiting awhile. Composers are rarely if ever announced this early. Hell Jackman was only announced as composer of KSI only a few months ago.

My fingers are crossed for Giacchino. Junkie XL would be damn good too. For whatever reason, I'm not hyped about the idea of Hans Zimmer being the composer....even though he used to be one of my absolute favorites.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten another casting announcement yet. Watanabe is supposed to be confirmed soon from what Chris and Variety said.

The "main" cast is usually put-together a few months in advance, but the more secondary characters normally don't start getting cast until a month or so before filming. Hell, Aaron Taylor Johnson wasn't cast until just two months before the first film began

As for Watanabe returning, many returning cast members don't get confirmed by trades for some reason. Charlie Day and Burn Gorman were not "confirmed" for Uprising until set photos revealed them a couple of months into filming.

I've seen reliable production reports on Gormaru Island's forum that list Watanabe as a cast member. Those same reports knew about Gareth's departure, Dougherty signing-on as director, and the film's title among the casting of MBB and Chandler in advance before the trades reported that news. We might not know about Ken Watanabe's return until a while into filming
