Godzilla can only chase Ghidorah but never catch because he doesn’t have the range. That’s a rule now. :P

Damn smoke pellets!

He got away!

I guess I can't be too critical...

I'd be down for a M. Night Shyamalan directed Godzilla film...
on the condition he doesn't mess with Godzilla as a character
too much.

I wonder what kind of original kaiju M.Night would cook up?

Or it turns out that in the end the entire film takes place in a petri dish...

Or it was werewolves...from the future.

A ghost kaiju as in a kaiju you can't see? Cause that's what I'd expect after he swapped the giant, rampaging ocean spirit monster out for a big wave that didn't even touch anyone in The Last Airbender. I really don't mind Shyamalan, but man idk what it is with him and his aversion to action scenes.

Because he's not an "action" director...he is more about atmosphere & tension.

He and Edwards must've been in the same film class
But in all seriousness, Shyamalan has made some decent stuff recently with Split. But TLA is something that'll never go away

You're right. I just don't get why he'd look at a martial arts based TV series and think "Hmm... I should direct a live action adaption of this!" Again, I don't dislike him at all. I just really don't understand how he made that decision.

You see...Edwards knew exactly what he was doing with Godzilla 2014...and its not
his fault that some viewers lacked the patience & understanding that if you keep
showing two or three monsters smacking the scales off of each other...it will eventually
get boring.

I use Man of Steel as the perfect example of this.

Godzilla 2014 was fine.

If it was too subtle for you...go watch a Michael Bay film.

:P

Yeah...& GINO/Godzilla 1998 will never go away either...

What's your point?

I think it was simply a case of "I never done that before...I'll give it a try."

That's one of the main reasons I respect M.Night as a filmmaker...he is
always looking to do something different...or he was...until he realized
his own "Superhero Universe" had some untapped potential.

Seriously...I'm so hyped for Glass.

:huge:

Anyway...what thread is this?

*Checks*

Oh yeah...

I speculate that I will enjoy the film while others nitpick it to death &
bitch & moan that there hasn't been a decent Godzilla film since 1991.

How's that for a speculation?

You're being far too generous! They'll be saying there hasn't been a decent Godzilla film since 1968.

How's that for a speculation?
1. That Edwards jab was a joke. I enjoyed Godzilla 2014.
2. I'm just stating the damage to Shyamalan's track record has already been done.
3. I actually loved most of the more recent Godzilla films after 1991. And I hope I enjoy KOTM. I just want it to be the best movie it can be is all.

1). My response was also a joke.
2). And I'm stating that you're only as good as your last game.
3). I agree 100%

Yup.

Most people know about cheesy, man-in-a-rubber-suit Godzilla.

Some people want to believe their interest is more obscure, and therefore somehow elite, than it actually is.

He'd do something unexpected which is somehow unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Anno can throw out the entire playbook and basically make a joke of the whole thing as an excuse to produce a Japanese episode of The West Wing spiked with right-wing demagoguery and everyone goes wild, because Toho.

Sometimes I feel like the only person on the Internet who loved The Last Jedi. I like movies, generally, that take chances. I would put Shin in that boat.. the first half anyway.
