EDIT: Judging from the tweets, the movie seems like it's not going to be about Kong, but rather Skull Island...

Legendary confirmed for best studio.
Not quite, it seems like it will go back to the earlier years of Skull Island but it will actually be about Kong's origins as well. Sort of how he became "king", how/why the natives started worshiping him as a god and such. Since they say the "cinematic origins", I'd think it would feature Kong in the sense I spoke of? I hope so anyway, I think it would be a cool idea.

King Kong Skull Island Movie

Post by demoylition »

Looks like legendary is making a new king kong movie. Maybe we'll eventually get a remake of Godzilla vs King Kong

Eh.... The only thing mildly interesting to come out of a new Kong movie from Legendary is it ''might'' lead up to a King Kong vs Godzilla Remake.

Otherwise to early for me to get excited for this, I'll see how it ends up as filming and production get underway and who's all behind it.

Wow. And in only two years, too! Assuming 2016 isn't just a placeholder, that is. Either way, new Kong!

A skull island movie might be pretty cool, but yeah, more info is needed.

Eh. I've never really been a fan of King Kong, but I'll probably check it out.

Can't go wrong with the Kong! Actually, you can. That was just for the rhyme effect.

Anyways, what's up with the people who voted "meh?" Show some respect for the big ol' ape!

Kind of curious if this will be based on the kong king of skull island novel or not which has basically the same idea.

And I bet ya that there'll be a after credits thing for the film where we see Kong sitting on a mountain and is looking at the sea, only to witness this GIGANTIC reptilian creature pass him by thus setting up the idea of King Kong vs Godzilla.

So will there be a connection between King Kong and Godzilla opening up for a King Kong vs. Godzilla remake, that's the thing I'm wondering about.....

It might happened seeing how LP is with Universal and Universal is taking a crack at the shared Universe idea.

Exactly, I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen.

Strange decision considering we just got a remake in what will be at that time 11 years ago.

That won't hurt G's chances of getting a Universal Studios' ride right?
