What Era do you consider this movie ?
Im curious to see how fans place this movie. Do you place it in the Millennium series ? Some include Zilla98 as a part of the Heisei Era. Or do you place it as the beginning of a fourth era. I guess itl depend if legendary makes enough movies. Personally I have it as a separate thing , atleast until either legendary or toho starts cranking out more movies.

For now, I'm going to call it the "Legendary Era".

That's what I've thought. If this film gets sequels or becomes a trilogy I'd be fine with calling this the "Legendary Era".SaferEmerald wrote:For now, I'm going to call it the "Legendary Era".

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
Right now I call it the Legendary Godzilla so I really have no issue calling it the Legendary era/series if it really gets going.

The time gap between Showa and Heisei was 9-10 years, the gap between Heisei and Millennium was 4 years.
The time gap between Millennium and Legendary was 10 years (not counting the cameos). I think it's long enough to warrant calling it a new era

I'm calling it the Legendary Era.
In the last year or so I've started thinking of Heisei and Millennium as one unit, but I've always thought of Emmerich's Godzilla as apart of the Millennium films than the Heisei series since, well, it has nothing to do with Heisei while an argument could be made that it fits in with the reboot-happy continuity-less Millennium movies.

Heisei dosnt really mean it has to be the Heisei Godzilla series. Like The Gamera trilogy and the rebirth of Mothra series are Heisei Era

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
No, but that's what it de facto is. If any of us say "Heisei Godzilla", we're all going to automatically assume the speaker is talking about the seven films made between 1984 and 1995. There aren't a whole lot of people who include Emmerich's Godzilla with those seven, and I don't think it makes any sense to unless, for some reason, people need Millennium to begin with G2K.Rareeve6195 wrote:Heisei dosnt really mean it has to be the Heisei Godzilla series. It's a non-point for me anyway, since I've come to think of everything made between 1984 and 2004 as one complete set.

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
I may be wrong dosnt millennium series only relate to Godzilla ? Like you can have Showa Godzilla/Gamera/Ultraman , I often see Gamera the Brave classified as Heisei. Can any one clarify whats happening there ?

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
A new one. Legendary, Reboot, American, all possible names for it. If the franchise takes on a distinctive flavor once the theoretical sequels come about, maybe a better name will come up.
I think it's classified as part of Heisei because GtB didn't spawn its own franchise.I often see Gamera the Brave classified as Heisei. Can any one clarify whats happening there ?
In my opinion, of course.

I have no idea.... the thing is that it's still the Heisei era as Emperor Akihito is still on the throne in Japan, as he has been since 1989 (so, technically, Godzilla 1984 was a Showa film if you go by the strictest definition).

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
It's just the Legendary/Edwards Godzilla like TriStar/Emmerich Godzilla for me until we get a series. Then it could be the Legendary Series, Edwards Series (if he directs them all).

Re: What Era do you consider this movie ?
^Agreed. Legendary Duology if only one sequel, Trilogy if only two sequels, Series if we get more than two sequels.
