People can't go their whole lives depending on what others tell them to do, sooner or later they have to decide for themselves. EdGojira, you should see it and make the decision on your own.
Sadly, I must make you aware that anything I say is my opinion.

Contrary to popular belief, I did like Godzilla 2014

No amount of gifs can describe the joy I'm feeling right now.
"Am I glad he's frozen in there and that we're out here, and that he's the sheriff, and that we're frozen out here, and that we're in there and I just remembered we're out here. What I wanna know is where's the caveman?"

I have always wanted to see Robert Downey Jr. in the Steve Martin role. I think he would kill it. Of course, these were my thoughts BEFORE the Avengers and at the beginning of the Iron Man movies....if your trying to spend your money wisely, Downey is now out of range.

Well no crap you do not dislike it, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT. See the movie, for god's sake. The one thing everybody on this site agrees on about this movie is that you need to see it. And if you're still not going to see it, then go to a subforum about something you actually have seen so that your input actually has value.
I dont agree that people need to see this film now.
It's an average G film, there was nothing really special and it doesnt even have the charm of the Japanese films.

Im pretty sure he is not living his life like this.
And he did make the decision on his own based on the info he found out, just like you went to see the film based on the info you got.

Exactly.

E.T. 2, Breakfast Club 2, Forrest Gump 2, Gladiator 2, were all announced sequels that never came to being. I mention them because they were huge box office draws at their time.
The difference being that none of those films had a 60 year tradition of franchise status behind them. That would be like questioning whether a James Bond sequel would "actually happen" after Casino Royale was such a huge success. Hell, Man of Steel got a critical drubbing and they announced a sequel a month later.
In my opinion, of course.

Anyone else hoping that Frank Darabont could return to write the sequel? He was the person who crafted one of the most emotional scenes in the movie,
Spoiler:
Joe and Sandra Brody's final moments together
. I think it would be interesting to see what he would come up with if he were chosen to write the sequel.

HannibalBarca wrote:As for Ford, I could see him sticking with the franchise. With Godzilla on the loose, MONARCH could be in need of some sort of military rapid-response force to aid with evacuations or other on-the-ground stuff in the event of a monster attack. Considering that Ford is pretty much the only military personnel to have come in direct contact with Godzilla and the MUTOs and lived to tell about it, he'd probably be a good candidate for a kind of MONARCH version of an XCOM squad.
Why do we have to follow MONARCH or the military again, though? I'm really hoping for new protagonists, hopefully from a different background.

Also, yay!

With his track record, I'd prefer if he was the only one who wrote on the sequel.

I never thought of that, but he would do was as a Steve Martin. Not quite like Burr's, but something close. Weird.

And a big yes to Darabont writing.

Only a few thoughts.

Virtually EVERYONE I know hated the Andrew Taylor-Johnson Character, Ford Brody. I admit, while I didn't hate him, I did feel tht he was a very boring character. Everyone one I know, including me, very much liked Serizawa and felt he should have been the lead. So if there is a sequel, which I pray there is, either give him a smaller role or leave him out of it all together. If they want to be really cool about it, make the sequel many years in the future and it can be his son teaming up with an older serizawa, who could get an eyepatch!

Another thing, a lot of people complained that Godzilla got his @$$ kicked the entire fight until the mother got lured away, and after defeating each ahd to take a nap. I would say that the big man should be made a bit more powerful, explain the energy loss on the fact that he was drained from both lack of food and swimming a bazillion miles. Just don't send in a throw away monster to prove he is 'strong'.

Lastly, since people complained WAAAAY too much about Godzilla's screen time, make him have a role the length of the mutos, and give his enemy a shadowy prescence. Maybe the military could build a mechagodzilla kiryu style from those bones from the muto pit, and have anguirus be hidden. Heck, his nickname was 'Kiler of the Living' beef him up, have him fight goji, then have the two team up.

Just ideas, of course.

One of my favorite ideas for a sequel involving Anguirus is this:
Have Anguirus be from the Radioactive Age that Godzilla is from. Set him up as a rival predator to Godzilla's species. When Anguirus awakens, he gives off something that alerts Godzilla of his presence. Anguirus starts destroying balance and Godzilla converges in on him to return balance in a brutal fight to the death in tooth and claw.
And, yes, I will be seeing the film.
How long has it been? I honestly forgot.

i personally would like to see the sequel to follow serizawa and for the humans to have put a tracking device on godzilla and have the movie go deeper into what godzilla does untill another monster shows up

Eh. I'm okay with this as long as they team up. Anguirus really does a fantastic job at being the big guy's side kick. I even know a few ways to realistically support it in these new films...

I really can't see how the Alpha Predator out to restore balance could team up with another monster. I wouldn't' shoot for a team up, this sort of discussion should probably go in the sequel discussion thread instead of the announcement thread. Maybe I could change that premise up to the more interesting idea where Anguirus detects Godzilla and starts hunting him while Godzilla catches on and does a good ol' "Who's the Prey Now?" moment.
