Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
Really, Godzilla had just about no reaction at all to the military's attack. My impression was he shrugged it off (assuming he noticed it at all) and then walked through the bridge.

Back off? He ignored them. He didn't run like GINO, he just kept trucking despite it. Which is almost more insulting than if he had retaliated.goji89 wrote:Why is it the American versions of Godzilla just back off from the Military?

Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
They weren't firing on the bridge. Their missiles targeted Godzilla, but he was simply too close and at too poor an angle so the missiles were messing up bad. The modern navy wouldn't be equipped for a close-in engagement with a creature like Godzilla because naval guns, for appropriate real life reasons, have been de-emphasized in favor of missile fire. You see some gunfire but from what I remember, the explosions are missiles and what you see flying past are missiles.Irys X wrote:I would've liked to have seen some of those ships get blown up (they kind of deserved it for firing on the bridge), but now that I've had time to mull over it, I actually liked how Godzilla reacted. He didn't really back down from the military, he just didn't pay any attention to him because their attacks were doing absolutely nothing.goji89 wrote:Why is it the American versions of Godzilla just back off from the Military?

Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
I'm gonna be honest here, I thought that this shot would be the final shot of the film. It definitely would have been a perfect shot to end on. Then after watching the film again I could see how this shot could play in a sort of alternate ending. Like imagine the nuke at the end couldn't be disabled nor transported and the HALO jump was an attempt to save as many people as possible before it goes boom. Everything comes into play, Godzilla still takes down the 2 Mutos (only instead of saving just Ford he saves an entire boat of citizens), and as Godzilla faints and the boat distances away the nuke goes off; killing the nest and presumably Godzilla as well. Then after a scene with the human characters reuniting/rejoicing we cut to the destroyed San Fransisco and then a huge dust cloud puffs up and then you see an arm, then this dust roar shot, then cut to black.
I doubt that was AT ALL an idea, but it's still a nice thought.

Heh, his reaction was almost like "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about you" then he dropped it.kiryu8 wrote:the only thing that could have made the final kill scene even better is if he had thrown the head into a building, not just let it drop

Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
The early script did indeed have Godzilla tearing a wing off the maleI thought the winged Muto's wings got torn off. I watched the movie yesterday and didin't see the wings torn off. And the female is HUGE! I feld sad when she was crying over the dead Muto babies.

Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
Question: who was the suit at the meeting who first proposed the nuke plan to take out G and the MUTO? Was he from the DOD? The White House? Was he another member of MONARCH?
In my opinion, of course.

The original script also had the TV cut away being a tease with the atomic breath. At least we got to see that with no limits, right?

he shot it at the eight-legged MUTO and knocked her out, but got distracted from finishing her off by the winged MUTO
In my opinion, of course.

It was Bonnie, the Female Muto. When Godzilla fired his Atomic breath for the fist time, was it the Winged Muto or the 8-legged Muto?

Hm ya know...I don't know. It really did look like just a stream of flame. So there may not be kinetic force behind it.Living Corpse wrote:I forgot but did it have "force" to it and push her or did she just back off by herself when it hit her?

Watching the scene again, I'm sure I see no kinetic impact. Just a hot stream of radiation.Living Corpse wrote:Maybe, maybe not. Ya know, I couldn't really spot any visible damage on the female when it was done.

Re: Godzilla 2014 Spoiler Thread
Most of the time yeah. But I figured since the Mutos and Godzilla can make each other bleed, with tooth and claw, a giant stream crazy napalm/plasma or whatever, would cause some visible damage.Living Corpse wrote:There usually isn't in these films.Maverick Centigrade wrote:
