It's not terrible, but it certainly is not what I'm looking for with Godzilla. However, I do agree the age of tail dragging has ended. I don't see that going over well with today's audience.

The issue is finding that balance of looking like a more agile creature while staying faithful to the design.

Color-wise? Not really, a bit strange but still decent. But I still favor the trademark black/dark greyish skin color.

Appearance-wise? The chest thing is a bit weird, but overall most of everything looks alright to me.
Anyway, the main purpose was to show the stance :)

Or Godzillawolf do you mean this stance?

That design looks pretty decent. I don't see anything really wrong with it expect for the really long tail, and the scar on his chest.

The first design posted is pretty neat, depsite the green skin and ginormous legs. The second is better but I think he should be a little more upright. I agree about no dragging tail. That needs to go.

That Uchuen (or however it's spelt) Godzilla doesn't do it for me. The spines are way to fleshy (why I'm not fond of the Heisei series). And the head looks too much like the Kiryu look/Final Wars one.

I'm perfectly content with the promo art. Love the snakey, amphibous look to it. Will help sell the fact that Godzilla is a sea monster (Which the Heisei look does fail to do).

I find it hilarious that everyone says Godzilla should never stand like that and the Japanese would never like it...

Yet, that's an acclaimed redesign series in a Japanese scifi magazine.

Eh, he's mostly hunched. The other paintings of Godzilla don't have him at that quite extreme of a stance.

Ah, yes. THat's the beauty of the Uchusen Art....They seem to have found a middle ground between keeping the retro, Knight stance and modernizing Godzilla for the post-Jurassic Park public perception of dinosaurs.

Agreed. I love every aspect of the Uchusen, except for how fleshy and weird their Godzilla looks.

I don't think anyone said that. I just feel Godzilla should be more vertical than horizontal.

Not to mention some of the newer movies already did have him leaning forward like a dinosaur. G2K, GXM, GXMG/S.O.S.

As for the designs that have been posted, yuck. They would work for maybe a deformed clone or just a new monster in general but for Godzilla himself, hell no, do not want.

That is a good point. Kitagawa actually leaned forward when wearing the suit. If anyone's ever seen "Bringing Godzilla Down to Size" on Classic Media's Rodan, you can see how his portrayal of Godzilla was unique when compared with Nakajima and Satsuma. He said he felt the weight and size of the spines made it seem more natural for Godzilla to lean forward a bit rather than stand vertically.

Is it me, or is Godzilla about to beat Ebirah over the head with that rock in his hand?

I actually really like this design. It doesn't seem anymore hunched over than what we've seen in the Millennium series.

To be a bit off topic, I have heard that Godzilla will fight another monster in the film. What should the monster look like?

Here are two possibilities I thought of:

1. I've heard on another thread that Godzilla may or may not fight King Ghidorah. Personally I would like to see something a LOT like the original. KG does NOT to be more dinosaur like or anything, mostly because he is NOT a dinosaur, but a space hydra. Based on this I could see a design similar to Grand Ghidorah used, albeit a bit more "spacey" or scary, maybe throwing in Kaiser Ghidorah's darker hues and textures, as well as the red eyes.

2. If we are getting an original kaiju, I would like to see a giant insect queen ala Legion or Megaguirus. I could see the Queen starting out as a massive armored larvae like Battra or Mothra, become a giant spiky cocoon , and then become a massive flying imago form. I would imagine the imago form to have a tail stinger like Megaguirus that fires darts like GMK Mothra, Mantis or scorpion like spiny legs, and maybe the ability to fire acid from its forehead like a termite.

Moving on, I imagine a Godzilla design that basically takes the Japanese design and slims it down while making it a bit more dinosaur like. Remember how Stan Winston made a more modern-but-true-to-the-original design that looked a lot like the 90's design? Well, I would like to see the same thing done with the Millennium designs, namely the GFW and Godzilla vs. Megaguirus designs.

Why do I get the feeling that they are going to do a "Godzilla: Series" fars the monsters?

I just hope the look turns out to be a 90's mix with a newer style.

I want him to fight something that flys but still has a humanoid shape so they can grapple and beat the crap out of each other.

Well, not super humanoid like that. Similar to Godzilla's body structure. I don't want it to be like Megaguirus where the fights are limited.
