Godzilla: The Look/Appearance Speculation

For the discussion of the upcoming Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures.

I have seen pictures of the LP Godzilla floating around online, but who knows what REAL these days....

I hope he does NOT look ANYthing like the American Godzilla, and I'd also like 'em to avoid the 'bloated thighs'/cumbersome look of the 90s suits, as well.

I wish this film the best, heres hoping that its not another CG trainwreck!

I really disagree with this. For some reason that I can't put my finger on, the large-headed Godzilla designs never come off looking as large (and seldom as realistic). Look at the Heisei films, for instance, vs. the Millennium series. There were numerous reasons that the Heisei films looked better (chief among them the fact that at that point Toho still actually gave a damn about Godzilla). The proportions, however, made Godzilla look larger, more menacing, and more realistic. It's true that they were further from the proportions of actual carnosaurs, but they gave Godzilla a more monstrous appearance and made his upright stance seem better legitimized. If you want a bigger head and a smaller tail, then watch Godzilla vs. Megalon or Godzilla's Revenge again, but I'll take Biollante.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments,I wanted to take from nature and give it a good sense of realism by adding the armored scutes and crocodilian characteristics to the piece.
Thanks.

Do you plan on showing a finished sculpt?

The Uchusen Godzilla looks great. The head design is much better than practically every other fan design shown here (I'd much prefer a head that harkens back to the Showa/Heisei days, while most fan designers seem to be going after GMK or GMK), and I'm not sure why every Godzilla fan design has to make him green. Besides charcoal gray dark blue is easily the color that suits Godzilla best.

You know, personally I think Sokogecki-Goji's head has a nice blend of features from the Heisei and early Showa suits.

I love how burly he looks and just from the head. I'm really digging the crocodilian armor and his big eyebrow ridges. My only suggestion would be to give him a full set of smaller teeth.

But welcome to the forums! Hope to see more of your work (Godzilla or otherwise).

it looks like the stop motion T-Rex from "Planet of Dinosaurs".

I really dig it.

I like it. Cool neck pose, and the general design looks feral and modern without looking too far removed from the original.

Yes. :-P

Seriously though, that's way too obvious, if you know what I mean. "Oh look, they just stuck an alligator head on a dinosaur. How dumb and lazy is that?"

Wrong. It's the head of a caiman, the body of the 1994 Godzilla, and the eyes of 1954 Godzilla.

Alright, a caiman; I'm sorry. They look very similar to alligators.

Do you get my point, though?

That the design is lazy because it's a photoshop? It's just an illustrative picture of what I think Godzilla could look like.

Sorry to be that guy, but as Godzilla is a mix of a bunch of dinosaur species, how would a caiman get in there?

Oh I see, why would an actuatic reptile, known to have been modeled in some incarnations as such, would present crocodilian features? No way!
