The Official Cast and Character Thread

With today confirming that they are doing a character polish on the script and that casting will start in 4 weeks I figured to go ahead and make the thread where we can post all the casting news and discuss who they picked and our opinions of the actors they chose.
Its being confirmed that they have certain actors in mind and they are polishing the script to "age" the characters to fit that actors.

Actors I'd like to see cast:

Male: Patrick Stewart (He could bring an air of prestige to this film like Takashi Shimura did in the original Godzilla film)

Female: (perhaps my own personal opinions on who I'd like to be cast as the female lead but....) Jennifer Garner

Patrick Stewart would be a great casting choice, As well as Anthony Hopkins an Liam Neeson,

Here's a link to an article I found on Bloody Disgusting. The script is getting going under another rewrite by Iron Man 3 writer, Drew Pearce. Also, casting is to commence soon as it was stated above.
The gears are finally beginning to get rolling on this film! I can't wait to see who will be starring in it.

Damn...2012 is the year that we've been getting tons of Godzilla information O_O
Hell I did not expect casting hints or production announcements to hit until late November/Early December. After Comic Con, Godzilla is pretty much off the sea floor and swimming through the depths right now.

Hearing that Casting will begin soon after 4 weeks does excite since it shows that the film is gearing its reactors and entering production quickly. I wonder who they are aiming at in terms of actors.

Robert Downey Jr. would be an awesome choice of an actor. I hope big and established actors show up in the film, because it can give us some hope that the human end of things will be worth watching as well!

RDJ has been one of my favorite actors since he's made a better career for himself. However, he wouldn't be one of my first picks for a Godzilla movie.

In terms of a role similar to the Nolan Batman films, developing advance weapons, semi nuclear based power sources/cores. Then yeah, I can see him fitting well within a Godzilla film.
