You know what?

Yeah. I can see that.

I really don't see why people can't stop comparing them. Yeah, they have somewhat (emphasis on somewhat) similar limb layout, but aside from that? Nope. Clover looks a bit like a fetus, while the MUTO looks more...sleek. Less biological, more like a stealth bomber.
I believe this was intentional, as the Art Of Destruction does reference the aesthetic of "stealth muscles" being used for the MUTOs.
And Clover only has six limbs, most of which look terribly disjointed. I'd say more so than Spielberg's WOTW Tripedaliens.

The 2 "extra" limbs Clover has are merely tentacles, I believe. Used for feeding or something.

They aren't tentacles, I'm pretty sure they have bones. And, yes, the spade shaped ends do have little "mouths" on the undersides of them. There was said to have been a cut scene from the film where Clover was "sucking up" a horse and some people.

Eh, probably should have used quotes around "tentacles", as I know they're not, they just somewhat resemble them. But yeah, I've heard about that scene, too. Would have been cool to see.

Always thought the creature from Clover looked too goofy for me to take the movie seriously. There were only a few good moments in the movie anyway, such as the tension when the head of the Statue of Liberty crashes through the street. The humans from Godzilla may have been a bit blank, but the weren't the -------- obnoxious idiots from Clover. Go Team MUTO.

The MUTOs were the highlight in this movie, for me. I know people wished they showed more Godzilla, but we know who he is so centering around the MUTOs was smart. Gareth may have teased Godzilla a bit much, but we got the payoff at the end with a awesome final 20 minutes.

Borenstein and Edwards would be smart, in my opinion, to include a MUTO in the sequel along with Mothra and Rodan. How? Simple...a baby survived the explosion. They need to have it be a MUTO that stands on two legs though and can use its arms/hands like Godzilla. It was missing in the first and would be crazy to have two flying kaiju fight Godzilla without another land kaiju.

I'd have a cave, cavern found with another Muto pod, spore. But like the one found in the first flick with fossil, there's another occupant. A live Rodan egg, or pair of eggs like the original RODAN. And we have the new Muto found hatched, as it's about to emerge into the whole wide world. The Rodan egg hatches, and the newborn proceeds to devour the Muto in the same manner the original did to Meganulon that were scurrying around the caverns. Basically another apex predator to the Mutos.

No more MUTOs, please.

Their story is done, we've seen all they have to offer. Let some familiar faces reclaim the spotlight.

Welp, they got a keeper for kaiju designs that's for sure.

God, seeing these designs here makes wonder just what the hell the original story was before Mr. and Mrs. MUTO came a knockin'.

And shit, I like Mr. and Mrs. MUTO, but having seen Rokmutul, Pterodactyl, and Snake-Mouth here, I'm starting to feel a little disappointed. :|

Reminds me of the Probe-Bat stage for the Gryphon in the never made Jan De Bont GODZILLA flick.

Probably the thinking was that like Godzilla, the Mutos were going to have dinosaurian appearance since they're from the same era of prehistory. But maybe with Rodan in in the cards for a sequel, the producers didn't want the Muto being just another flying dino. So they went in the crustacean direction.

This is fine as long as they're at least MENTIONED.
