olive them. i personally feel that a ridiculously evil and destructive godzilla should be the only monster in the film. if they're going to bring another one in, than angulus should be the one.

Save a monster from space for the sequel. I would want someone with a pretty basic origin, as Godzilla should be the first film's focus.

I don't think there is a single monster in the franchise, that is 100% unusable. King Kong isn't the best choice however, given how expensive it would be to obtain him; and probably because American audiences are bound to root for him instead of Godzilla.

I don't want to see any of the bigger (physically) monsters, like King Ghidorah. I'm cool with almost everything else, though.

I doubt that, what would you rather root for, A giant fire breathing lizard that beats the living crap out of monsters twice his size, or a over-sized gorilla

And Godzilla is slightly more popular than Kong

I went to a school once for a visit, and I asked them if they know Godzilla, they said yes; When I asked them who Kong was, most looked at me like I was speaking a different language

Back on topic, Everyone but Anguirus, Manda, Rodan, and Varan should be shelved

What I would root for, is irrelevant to what the masses would root for. As an amateur anthropologist, I can tell you that King Kong is more popular here in the States than Godzilla, Ultraman and Gamera are.

For some reason Mothra seems more like sequel material to me than King Ghidorah.

Am i the only one that think's Mothra would actually look ridiculous in a American film without being completely changed with her physical appearance?

Sure, I'll have an open mind to it (NOT for the first film) but really.... Her an her bright colors an the fairy twins? I can only hear the American Audiences reaction as the fairy twins start singing that song..... Not that i really care as long as i enjoy the film... I just don't see how Legendary Pictures would even consider her when there's so much new stuff to be created, an better more unique monsters in the Toho franchise that need to be back on screen.

Biollante, Gigan, Titanosaurus, Rodan ect...... No offense to fan's of Mothra... but i'd like these films to have the tone of the 1954 an 1984 films.. neither which would suit Mothra.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Mothra's design in an American film. The GMK and SOS designs would work well, in my opinion. You might have to make the '03 versions a bit less fluffy, though, to avoid the "cuddly" connotations.

As for the Shobijin...that's trickier. However, there's nothing about them that would be as cutesy-poo as some of the Harry Potter menagerie or the like. So long as you advertise the film in a way that makes the mysticism and fantasy elements obvious to the audience before they buy a ticket, I think the action and destruction would still satisfy a broad audience. Yeah, she'll probably end up appealing more to young girls and women than Godzilla does, but that might be a good thing as far as bringing in a broader audience to the franchise as a whole. Hook the gals with Mothra, and they'll stick around for Ghidorah and company.

^^Good points, but it's a reboot there going to redesign her so that she looks more Holy/Divine.

You have no way of knowing that. It's also assuming that Mothra will be in full-on God mode, which would be a basis of the ROM version of the character.

Your idea that they'll make Mothra more Holy/Divine is based on the idea that they'll draw from the nineties and 2K incarnation, despite the classic Mothra never being solidly established as either a mutation worshiped as a deity or as a legitimate deity (which is what makes that Mothra so much more mysterious and interesting).

I think it's amazing that you're entirely not understanding what I'm saying.

You said "This is how they will do it"

I said "You don't know that they will take that creative direction, especially when the character has had a wider range of origins, some of which are alot more interesting then just a straight God"

to which you interpreted as "So you just want it to be a giant moth"

I feel like you haven't even seen Mothra vs. Godzilla or Mothra if you think that incarnation of the character is JUST a giant Moth.

Better be careful about questioning Mothra's divine status. There are now fringe movements within the Leipedopteran Church that have forsaken our peaceful ways, and wish to impose Mothra's divinity upon the world by force.

Anyway, I can't imagine that Toho would allow Legendary to just chuck that entire aspect of the old girl's mythology to the wind. Even without the Shobijin, the GMK versions was about as far as they've wandered. She was still a mythical protector, whether or not we saw any worshipers.
