Godzilla: The Look/Appearance Speculation

For the discussion of the upcoming Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures.

It does. For what this film is supposedly being described as, it probably wouldn't fit the bill.

But, if he's ever the mean Godzilla again--he sure looks the part.

I think that model kit is ugly. The design is SO extreme, it's stupid.

This movies is supposed to be a dark and serious Godzilla film so I think that design would fit the bill.

I would still like this design that never truly got implemented in the millennium series. Godzilla's head looks awesome. Slight hunch. The dorsal spines are big but not overly gigantic like the films had it. Also, maybe they can lose the ultra spiky skin layer and go back to the smooth showa-era Godzilla skin like this seems to hint at. I think it would look great.

Here:

:freak: @that Godzilla design with the spikes all over him. This Godzilla design IMO is a bit too extreme for Godzilla look. For the LPG film I would like to see a Godzilla who has the skin texture, body & dorsal fins of the original Godzilla but with the head of GMK Godzilla

I HATE the spines on that model kit. They're too messy looking. I still prefer that one picture that was posted a bit back that was based on the silhouette.

^ I think some of the spines themselves could be smoothed out abit but other than that I really do like it.

I think the spines could benefit from some better outlining and shading from the painter of that kit, the shape doesn't bother me too much. But I can see why someone would feel differently.

I love the G2000 silhouette. The head of the kit actually looks like the head of it to me, just longer teeth. Which I think look great on the kit.

To me the leaked silhouette Godzilla looks like he's facing towards the screen a bit, the dark patch on the mouth gives it away, think I can also see the eye too.

The model actually looks like he underwent a serious and painful mutation, and that's a good thing. The face is meh though.

The proportions of the face are a bit odd... Also way too many spikes, maybe he fused with Anguirus or something :D

Since we're looking at Godzilla 2000-esq looks, heres one that I really like

What really sells this look for me is the face. It's very dragonlike almost like the '54 head, which is what Edwards is basing his Godzilla off of. Another thing I really like is the elongated neck and the spines, especially the spines. They're perfectly sized. Not obnoxious like the model posted above and not enormous like the ones on the actual MireGoji suit. The model's overall feel is very sinister and evil, especially when that red glow. If I recall, Bob Eggleton described Godzilla as "fissioning" in a peice of concept art he saw.

I love the first two. The third one reminds of what Junior can grow up to be

That looks outstanding! If this was the design for the movie, I would squeel like a little girl. It looks like he would breath orange/red atomic breath though.

The red beam isnt really a bad thing. Though the blue one would be preferable. I can imagine the spines turning from red to blue when the atomic beam is going to be used. It would make sense too, since the blue part of the flame is the hottest and Godzilla's beam is blue, so...

That would be an interesting way to do it actually. Good idea Gyaos

I don't like it.

Too humanoid and the spikes look stupid.

The only thing I don't like is the length of the neck. Give me the length of the neck of the silhouette and I'm perfectly happy. Face is cool.

Though I do think the face on the Evolution kit is flawless. But it is overall a very unique design, people seem to either love it or hate it.

Someone posted this based on the teaser trailer from Comic Con.. Just fan art but still interesting... Spines need to bigger an change the face a bit more to like GMK's an i'd be okay with it.
